SkiFreak Posted September 5, 2011 Report Posted September 5, 2011 Thought I'd start a thread to discuss music related to the 2012 games, promo music, albums, etc. First piece of music for London 2012? The Official Torch Relay song: Dionne Bromfield & Tinchy Stryder - Spinnin for 2012 Was posted to YouTube Aug 31, but the description says it won't be released until Sept 25th.
SkiFreak Posted September 5, 2011 Author Report Posted September 5, 2011 Found a different remix of Spinnin for 2012 here: The Ad Brown Club Remix: http://blog4djmusic.blogspot.com/2011/08/dionne-bromfield-spinnin-for-2012-ad.html Oh look, there's a download button on that page...

SkiFreak Posted September 6, 2011 Author Report Posted September 6, 2011 Theres a mascot song coming in the next few weeks too : ) Davey, any idea if they are planning to release official albums? Beijing had about half a dozen or so.
Mr Tickle Posted September 6, 2011 Report Posted September 6, 2011 They are definately releasing albums. I have a brochure of London 2012 Licencees and under Universal Music Group listed as product categories are: 1. Official music licencee 2. Official Album releases 3. Music and live acts for the Olympics and Paralympics 4. Bespoke music products
SkiFreak Posted September 6, 2011 Author Report Posted September 6, 2011 ^Cool. Are they planning to do opening and closing ceremony albums like VANOC did for Vancouver 2010?
Scotguy Posted September 7, 2011 Report Posted September 7, 2011 If they can release a royal wedding cd album then they should do an opening ceremony album. The Sydney and Vancouver ceremony cds are great and i love listening especially to the instramental pieces
Mr Tickle Posted September 19, 2011 Report Posted September 19, 2011 Thought I'd post the official mascot song here. By Carrie and Tom Fletcher (McFly) and a West Leigh Junior School. No video yet
afiqnadzir Posted September 21, 2011 Report Posted September 21, 2011 the song is look very 90...hurmm,im hope something inspiring
Lee Posted September 21, 2011 Report Posted September 21, 2011 Thought I'd post the official mascot song here. By Carrie and Tom Fletcher (McFly) and a West Leigh Junior School. No video yet Hmm...reminds me a little of Reach by SClub. Not good.
Rob2012 Posted September 21, 2011 Report Posted September 21, 2011 At work so can't listen to it, but if it's a mascot song then it's not really aimed at us is it? If it's aimed at kids and sounds like S Club, fine, so long as we don't have to hear it played too often during the Games themselves.
Citizen-Seth Posted September 21, 2011 Report Posted September 21, 2011 Hmm...reminds me a little of Reach by SClub. Not good. If only we could have an SClub reunion for the opening ceremony . . . dare to dream!
its a bid of magic Posted September 21, 2011 Report Posted September 21, 2011 If only we could have an SClub reunion for the opening ceremony . . . dare to dream! Dreams for some, nightmare for others.
Faster Posted September 22, 2011 Report Posted September 22, 2011 Dreams for some, nightmare for others. I would say most, Britain has a much stronger musical tradition then that. I just really hope the triple egos of British Isles Music don't rear their self-important heads at London.
Mr Tickle Posted September 22, 2011 Report Posted September 22, 2011 This is a tune for the mascots, its aimed at what, 3 to 12 year olds. Its perfect for them, catchy, upbeat, using a school choir is a lovely touch.
SkiFreak Posted January 19, 2012 Author Report Posted January 19, 2012 Any new music out there? Any word yet on release dates of official albums?
SkiFreak Posted April 7, 2012 Author Report Posted April 7, 2012 Just saw this article: Uncut: Elbow chosen to record BBC's London 2012 Olympics theme
afiqnadzir Posted April 8, 2012 Report Posted April 8, 2012 waiting for theme song.....hopes its gonna be a song about scarify , unite and togetherness
Olympian2004 Posted April 8, 2012 Report Posted April 8, 2012 Just to emphasise: The article talks about Elbow recording the BBC's theme for the London Olympics, it's not the official theme for the London Olympics in total.
Jimena Posted April 8, 2012 Report Posted April 8, 2012 What about Prod - Heather Small? It was London's bid song
Olympian2004 Posted April 9, 2012 Report Posted April 9, 2012 What about Prod - Heather Small? It was London's bid song I don't think so - "Proud" was already five years old when London won the 2012 Games, and it would be even more dated now, twelve years after its release. It's still a good song, but I think they'd rather choose something much more contemporary as theme song (if they choose a theme song at all -- remember, Vancouver didn't even have an official one).
Rob2012 Posted April 9, 2012 Report Posted April 9, 2012 I think it should make a reappearance in some form, maybe in the closing ceremony - to bookend the winning of the bid and the close of the Games. That song was so emblematic of London's bid I'd love to hear it in some form in the actual Games.
deawebo Posted April 9, 2012 Report Posted April 9, 2012 Of course it was emblematic! I remember watching a video with a lot of people making sports, and a man at the end with dirt on his fce after doing pole vault... That song was in the hole video, in fact i supported London cuz of that vodeo since Paris pussy song "we want the games" wasn't really good! I support your idea of putting it in the closing ceremony
