Gold Coast Lions
Perth Australia is Australia 4th largest city, Perth Australia is the closest major Australian city to Africa, Asia and Europe, Perth hosted the 1962 Commonwealth Games, 1987 Americas Cup the 2011 sailing world championships and 2011 CHOGM, Perth is building a new Stadium that can hold 60,000 - 80,000 seat making it the 3rd largest stadium in Australia due to be finish by 2018. Perth is the 2nd fastest growing capital city in Australia after Brisbane, Perth is growing building a massive airport by 2024 the transport in Perth is growing and is building the largest theme park in the Southern Hemisphere. Perth is home to Daniel Ricciardo and the great Margaret Court. Western Australia is the superpower for the economy of Australia and Western Australia is very rich in resources Western Australia is like the Alberta and Alaska of Australia. So what do you think about Perth WA Australia hosting an future Olympics and Paralympics Games? I think that it could be the next Australian host for the SOPG I think it will be 2036 or 2040 it will be in Perth WA Australia.
Soaring
I think Melbourne or Brisbane have better chance than Perth to be the next host from Oz. I think the earliest bid should be for 2040 or beyond. Just my own opinion though....
Lord David
Perth would be the Lille, Saville or Leipzig of Australia. Sure they can propose a sound bid, have 60,000+ hotels (including Media Village and cruise ships), propose an "Olympic Park" and have either that 60,000 seater new stadium their building, or even propose a new 80,000 one, or simply upgrade their athletics centre. But even with all this, they're definitely not getting it before either another Melbourne or a Brisbane games.
iceyone
I would like either Brisbane or Melbourne to host before Perth. As we just hosted in 2000, I wouldn't bother bidding until 2028 or 2032 - even then, it may be too soon. By 2048 we should have a good shot at holding the olympics again.
Lord David
Perth could use it's athletics stadium and surrounding venues if it wants an Olympic Park style games. The athletics stadium temporarily expanded to 70,000+, downsized to 25,000 post Olympics. Think the Challenge Stadium for something like Badminton or Table Tennis. The pools hosting Waterpolo Prelims, Swimming, Diving, Waterpolo finals and Modern Pentathlon (Swimming). The open fields having temporary pavilions hosting some indoor sports, most notably Volleyball and Handball. A Velodrome. Beach Volleyball at the beach. Campbell Barracks for Shooting. A new housing development as the Athlete's Village Another one serving as Media Village. A Main Media Centre turned office space post Olympics. Therefore the new multi-purpose stadium in Burswood, would host Football finals. Perth oval for Rugby 7's. State Tennis Centre for Tennis. The Convention and Exhibition Centre for Judo/Wrestling (assuming it returns), Table Tennis/Taekwondo or Badminton/Rhythmic Gymnastics and Weightlifting at 2,500 capacity. The ghastly Perth Arena for Basketball Finals. Perth Hockey Centre for Field Hockey. I think this would be the ideal option, but if Perth really were considering bidding, unfortunately it would probably somehow try and fit an athletics track in it's new stadium and have it at 70,000. Proposition Joe
It's on the wrong side of the continent unfortunately; there aren't any other major or notable population centres nearby.

stryker
An Olympic Games is probably a bit more than it can handle given the size and scope of the Olympics. On the other hand, Perth would be a fantastic choice to host the Commonwealth Games again. Another thought about Australia in general, while I see Australia is now part of the AFC and is hosting the AFC Cup in 2015, what would it take for Australia (and for that matter New Zealand) to become part of the Asiad? Perth, Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, even Canberra would be more than capable hosts not to mention hosting a successful Asian Games could be a catalyst for a future Olympic bid.

Lord David
Perth: the Sacramento, Kansas City, Indianapolis & Charlotte of Australia. But unlike those cities, it could potentially host, especially given my plan of using the Perry Lakes area as an Olympic Park type setup. But Australia and New Zealand are technically part of the "Oceania" continent and not Asia. Not to mention that this would mean we'd be dominant in many sports and always snatch top 3 finishes, something the other Asian Olympic Committees probably would not like. world atlas
there is still some criticism for the AFC and his former president Mohamed ibn Hammam about Australia especially in the west Asia ( Arabian Countries ) they say Australia takes one " Asian" spot in the world cup which originally should be for one of them on the other hand the OCA see Australia inclusion will hurt the sports development in Oceania Mon Nov 15, 2010 5:24am EST Nov 15 (Reuters) - Australia's inclusion in the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) would bring more revenue, expertise and sporting excellence for the continental bloc but would "kill" the Oceania region, the OCA's chief said on Monday. "We are not closing the door (on Australia)," OCA president Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah told Reuters in an interview on Monday. "For us they would add value to our Games, for our income, for our organisation, for our technical level and even for our results ... it would be something good for Asia. "But if Australia goes you are killing the Oceania zone. We have to give them a chance to develop that zone with Australia." Australia's football confederation broke away from Oceania in 2006 to join the Asian Football Confederation and other Australian sports have long yearned for tougher competition than is provided by the clutch of Pacific nations that comprise the bloc. "It's not the last resolution (but) we don't want to be selfish and forget the benefit of other NOCs (National Olympic Committees) in the region of Oceania," said Sheikh Ahmad Reuters

We're the continent, maybe with NZ. The rest of Oceania is just the leftovers when the rest of the continental masses are parcelled out. And for a large ocean, we're a tiny sporting pond. Joining the AFC was the best thing that ever happened to soccer in this country. It's given us some decent experience and competition. What are we actually benefitting from being in the Oceania National Olympic Council or whatever it is? Thank god we have the Commies, or we'd have no good tier 2 event to aspire to and test our mettle in. It is a fair enough point about what it will do to the remainder of Oceania if we and NZ left. I think the island states are probably the main beneficiaries of ONOC in terms of funding and help. Maybe we should form some kind of semi-formal partnership between ONOC and the Asian council or PASO to be able to participate with them in their games? Why not a wider Pan-Pac grouping?
FYI
But unlike those cities, it could potentially host, especially given my plan of using the Perry Lakes area as an Olympic Park type setup. Yeah, sure. In another 50-60 years, perhaps. Same goes for those other cities. And I'm sure that you can come up with a venue plan for those other U.S. cities just as well, since you hunger for such hobbies. :-P
Lord David
^^ But that's the thing, you already have an ideal setup at Perry Lakes, despite the fact they're building a major stadium at Burswood. Using such a plan makes it a potential host, if it happens to be the bid (though unlikely) Australia puts forward. Might as well go with a strong one, even if the cost justification isn't there. Gold Coast Lions
Perth Western Australia is the only place in Australia named by the New York Times as the top 52 places to go Perth is rank the 9th best to go to by the times, The city is going through a massive facelift the airport will be massively upgraded with an train line to the Airport too by 2024, Perth is also interested in getting the 2019 or 2021 World Championship in Athletes, I think Perth could very well get the 2036 or 2040 Summer Olympics and Paralympics Games Perth is the 2nd fastest growing city in Australia too. http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2014/01/10/travel/2014-places-to-go.html Perth got geopolitical advantage over Brisbane too the closest Australian city to Europe, Perth is also close to major transportation hubs and have direct flights to Tokyo, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore and Johannesburg, It's an Indian ocean city the only ocean which had not had the Olympics yet and the same time zone as China too. The State of Western Australia is 20 years ahead with relationships to Asian countries to other states in Australia and Western Australia is the powerhouse to the Australian economy too. And that goes for Perth, too. Durban has not even hosted an multi sporting event same with Istanbul and we all know what is keep on happening with them. Istanbul lost bcuz of political turmoil, not bcuz of anything else. They were on the short-list, & they even beat the bid that had everything in place & hosts a whole bunch of sporting events. So that means nothing. Cape Town is probably the more notable city in South Africa, but Durban probably provides more of what the IOC is looking for in terms of a technical setup and the climate for their preferred window for the games in late July or August. Cape Town's loss in 1997 means little here. It was nearly 2 decades ago with South Africa only recently having emerged from the apartheid era. Having hosted the FIFA World Cup since then makes it a different ballgame for the country and whatever city they choose
