Perth Australia Olympics Games

Paris is the most visited city in the world. An eclectic, cosmopolitan, global capital. With dignitaries, superstars, etc all having second, third, whatever homes there. Being pictured in a numerous amounts of films. Virtually everyone from around the world, dreams about going to Paris at least once in their life. Yet, the IOC has told the French Capital, NO three times within a 19-year time span. So not really buying too much, if anything, on the gross Perth embellishment.

I would like either Brisbane or Melbourne to host before Perth. As we just hosted in 2000, I wouldn't bother bidding until 2028 or 2032 - even then, it may be too soon. By 2048 we should have a good

All those people you mentioned also have homes in New Orleans, a city with a lot more beef to a bid then Perth....

I'm on leave, but I have to say this:

*cough* Durban is inside a country Bach will stop at nothing to cross off the list and it does not matter if Perth filters more people, same could be said for dozens of US cities the excede Rio's infrastructure. Perth is not *cough*

GCL, if you're going to quote statistics, please do so accurately or else people won't take you seriously and will think you're intentionally trying to twist the facts (and people already don't take this Perth garbage seriously). Here's what the article says..

Leaked plans show passenger numbers are forecast to surge more than 200 per cent from the current 14 million a year to 46 million by 2044.

Due to be unveiled later this month, the Perth Airport Master Plan 2014 outlines how the airport will develop over the next 30 years to meet demand.

Beyond 2044: Ongoing expansion to handle up to 70 million passengers per year.

Perth Airport is planning for up to 70 million passengers a year to pass through its terminals in the second half of the century. This is despite Transport officials already beginning the search for a suitable site for a proposed second metropolitan airport.

So great.. maybe 50 or 60 years from now, that will be how many people use the airport (I'd be curious to see how they think passenger traffic will be 5 times greater in that span). If you're talking about Perth's growth NOW, maybe you should off actually data and not what look like very optimistic projections. Again, if you're talking about growth, those numbers are relative to where they started. Other airports will be growing as well, so Perth will continue to be playing catch-up. Good for Perth that you're comparing yourselves to Durban. How do they compare to Sydney and to Melbourne and to Brisbane, because that's who Perth would be up against if they want to dream about an Olympics.

We are getting Perthnites bragging about "their" city in our lifestyle sections of our newspapers just to piss us off even more. Oh they bragged about their proposed airport with a big picture to prove it.

Well Thomas Bach also want Australia to host again it was his 1st country he said when he was elected the IOC. Melbourne and the IOC is on bad terms with the Commonwealth Games, Sydney just hosted it so that leaves it an race between Perth and Brisbane as Australia next host city and Perth is really channelling Brisbane now as the 3rd major city in Australia now is currently going on the biggest city development in the Western World now, If you go to Perth now it is construction work everywhere you go now and the city is going through right now the biggest hotel boom in Australia since the Sydney Olympics Games. Perth in 20 years will an major global city.

. Perth in 20 years will an major global city.

No it will only be a regional mining hub, booming and busting depending on the resources cycle.

Nice airport - needed to serve the fly-in-fly-out mining jobs.

Lucky so and so's get the first commercial flight by a Boeing 787-9 flying to it in October when Air NZ gets it's first later next month.

Still, it is a busy airport for FIFO and with everything moving over to the more easy to get to International Airport terminal.

Wouldn't Perth be better hosting an IAAF World Champs?

Perth will become like that now with Public Transport getting to the International Airport now the Bus Service will be going to the PIA and the Train will be going to the Airport by 2020 as well. Perth is now starting to make an bid for the IAAF World Championships for 2021 as well an multi sporting event too.
