Potential 2026 and 2028 bids
Tony E Loves Architecture replied to pablum's topic in 2026 Olympic Winter Games Bids
Europe will host 2024. Los Angeles has nearly no chance. Europe could also host 2026. -
Ok. If they aren't even America's first choice bidding City (Only because Boston didn't want to carry on with the bidding), what chance do they have hosting the 2024 Olympics. 2028 seems more realistic.

Technical Questions

It would be a good idea, it's all part of the Sweepstakes. -
Los Angeles are probably using this as a warm up bid for 2028.

Potential 2026 and 2028 bids
Tony E Loves Architecture replied to pablum's topic in 2026 Olympic Winter Games Bids
Ok fair enough, I kept on about it a lot. I can't argue with that. Sorry. Also, if Oslo kept their bid and lost, then fair enough. But they left on their own choice, not because they lost. -
Yes, but with 1 City allowed to have 2 Stadiums, London would have 2 Stadiums for a England Fifa World Cup. The roof is also lower to allow sunlight to the pitch, which is why the Emirates pitch is World class. If we hosted a World Cup, I'm confident that the council would allow the Emirates Stadium to be expanded.

Potential 2026 and 2028 bids

How? How can you agree with LD that Almaty had the better bid, when Beijing won? I'm just saying, you can't live on what if's, but on what happened. -
I'm not trying to get into a argument with you, I've never had issues with you. My point is, the major thing stopping the Emirates Stadium being expanded is the tube upgrade. If we host a Fifa World Cup, Holloway Tube Station and Arsenal Tube Station would have increased capacity, meaning the Emirates Stadium would be expanded. Let's just wait and see until it comes to that I suppose. I don't know. Twickenham will never be chosen to host Fifa World Cup matches. There is enough Football Stadiums in London. I disagree. As an Arsenal fan, I know Arsenal could do with an expanded Capacity, we could sell 80,000-90,000 or even higher ticket capacity. We always sell out our games. The season ticket waiting list is big. Like I mentioned before, Twickenham wouldn't be chosen for a Fifa World Cup. London has enough Football Stadiums.
-
Wembley and Emirates Stadiums would be chosen. Emirates can be expanded to at least 65,000 seats, by filling in the corners etc. Tottenham have no expansion plan for their Stadium. Emirates would also be chosen, because Arsenal (My Football Team) is the most successful London club of all time.

When Blatter goes, we will get a Fifa World Cup. We will/did have an excellent world class bid, but Fifa are too corrupt. If Fifa want to play clean, pick England. Wembley and Emirates Stadium's would be the London Venues too.

Almaty didn't have a better bid. Beijing won. End of, no excuses. You can't live on what if, but on what happened. Beijing won and Beijing had the better bid over Almaty. -
The Olympic Park is looking really good.
