A VERY interesting snippet in this piece from ITG about the IOC's wooing of India:

What will blossoming romance between IOC and India lead to?

Seeing Ambani with Bach this week, has got me thinking: could she be a contender to replace him as IOC President when he steps down in 2025?

It is no secret that Bach would like his successor to be a female. His original choice was widely assumed to be Kirsty Coventry but talk of the Zimbabwean's candidacy has subsided in recent weeks as it has become clear she would lack the necessary support among certain part of the IOC membership.

Ambani ticks many boxes, particularly the one of not being a white European male. With wealth beyond most people’s comprehension, the status of being the unofficial head of world sport could appeal to her.

At 59, she also has time on her side and, as a member appointed under Bach, would probably turn to him for advice.

That would allow him to retain a measure of control over an organisation he has run with an iron rod for a decade now.

This growing romance between the IOC and India may still be in its early stages, but it could be heading for a long-term commitment.

So the new contender could be Nita Ambani, the super rich new Indian IOC member from India?

I didn’t know where else to post this, it’s a long article that addresses so many Olympic issues… Russia, the “New Norm”, Coates, Nice, Brisbane and more. But it’s a highly recommended read. Such and entertaining and enlightening… character assassination. Enjoy!

Ten reasons why IOC's Sun King Thomas Bach is causing irreparable damage to the Olympic movement

(if the site, The Inquisitor, is blocked for you, just sign up - it’s free. And it has lots of great Olympic muck-raking)

LOL - 'Napolean' Macron! And what ever happened to Dmitry? Was he banished to Siberia or something, cause you don't hear about him anymore.

And boy, that didn't mince any words, did it! If you didn't know any better while reading that, you'd think you're reading about orange face, rather than Bach (excuse me, 'Sun King' lol), cozying up to all those world leaders for quick photo-ops & searching for their approval.

Unfortunately, I couldn't finish reading it cause then it fades into the subscribe button. I don't like to sign-up for everything I read these days (even if it is about the Olympics), it just gets to be too much after a while. But this does deserve to be at least unlocked in that thread you did the other day with the link someone provided you to do just that.

Medvedev is regularly being wheeled out in his role as Putin‘s puppet, I mean national security something, to make threats about nuking whatever the flavour of the day European city/country it is. Some like to say..oh it‘s Thursday already and he hasn‘t posted his weekly nuke threat yet!

Okay, here goes:

Still reckon it’s worth subscribing. It’s free, and it’s not like it’s constantly updated - maybe one or two articles a week. But it’s the successor to Andrew Jennings’ Olympic investigative reporting.

Looks like it still cuts it off when it gets ready to list "the 'ten reasons' of how Sun King has done irreparable damage to the so-called Olympic Movement".

I'll definitely have to consider now in signing-up, cause this Jens guy really rakes the IOC through the coals! lol And I want to read what he has to say about JC, Brisbane, Nice, the "wonderful new-norm" & more!

It's no wonder why I encounter some people that don't like the Olympic Games, cause they consider them nothing but an elitist event mainly for politicians & special interest groups. But at the same time, that can sadly be said with any organization these days.

I don’t like posting such huge slabs of test, but here’s the continuation, and I’ll put it in quotes so it sorta has a spoiler tag and doesn’t take up too much space.

Ten reasons why the Sun King has done irreparable damage to the so-called Olympic movement.

We will refine and expand this list in the near future and work through it point by point but there is already plenty of good research and analyses on each point below. And of course, all of you, the well-informed readers of THE INQUISITOR, know numerous other examples that should be added to this list and that do not fit in at all with the propaganda nonsense of Agenda 2020Agenda 2020+5 and Agenda 2020 something.

1 - Thomas Bach has politicised and totally exaggerated the Olympic Games ...

... and can no longer get rid of the ghosts he himself has summoned. Everything that the Sun King and his propagandists complain about, they themselves have forced – mostly without any need. Many of the problems that the IOC is facing were caused by the hubris of the Sun King, who thought he was on a par with heads of government, presidents and despots and even continues to play this game in other nations while bemoaning Russia's predictable responses.

2 - Thomas Bach has introduced a cult of personality into the IOC and eradicated the last remnants of democratic practices.

Do you know how Jacques Rogge said goodbye as IOC President in 2013? By encouraging potential presidential candidates to apply. Out of principle. He received them all for private meetings in Lausanne. Because he was striving for a minimum of democracy: an election, not an appointment. Things are very different under Rogge's successor, who won the election in September 2013 against five challengers with no chance.

All IOC meetings and sessions have followed a script since 2014. Nothing is left to chance anymore. Requests to speak, the most embarrassingly obsequious praise and even the alleged calls for the Olympic Charter to be amended in order to grant the Sun King another term or even more terms … absolutely everything has been arranged.

Even under Juan Antonio Samaranch senior there was a comparatively open debate in the IOC. Under the democrat Jacques Rogge? Well, he even lost several extremely important votes at IOC sessions (especially on the Olympic programme). Rogge wanted it that way, while people like today's Sun King and his followers have always interpreted it as a weakness worthy of criticism.

In comparison, the IOC even had modest democratic practices under Samaranch, very rarely of course. But there were different currents, there was sometimes opposition to disastrous decisions, even timid debates. Now, we have no debate.

Incidentally, the Sun King never objected under Samaranch, not even when Samaranch authorised an extension of his term of office in 1995. The Sun King was always on the side of power, a faithful executor.

3 - Term extension has already caused enormous damage to the IOC - and will continue to do so.

One of the key points of the IOC reforms that had to be adopted in the crisis year of 1999 was to limit the term of office of IOC presidents. Eight years initially, then a one-off extension for four years. Rogge served on this basis (2001-09, 2009-13). Bach has served on this basis to date (2013-21, 2021-25), but there have been increasing signs for at least three years that the Sun King wants to continue, for which the Olympic Charter must be amended.

This is not a problem for the IOC, which is in thrall to the Sun King. The majority of members do not even realise the problem. They don't know the reasons for this term of office rule, nor do they care about the consequences of abolishing it.

And Bach's emissaries are currently explaining to every IOC member why it is important to keep the Sun King in power.

Of course, it is not the brainchild of the Algerian IOC member Moustapha Berraf, who has been dogged by allegations of corruption in the past, to give the IOC Sun King another term of office. Berraf was the first to take to the stage at the session in Mumbai in October 2023.

Everything follows a script drawn up at IOC headquarters. This includes the latest farce, according to which the so-called ethics commission is allegedly taking the initiative and postponing the pseudo-debate on the extension of the term of office until after this summer's Olympic Games.

Let us briefly reiterate that the IOC is far below the standard of even many other sports organisations in ethics issues, has no independent ethics commission, and the so-called Chief Ethics & Compliance Officer Pâquerette Girard-Zappelli, who more or less takes on a secretarial role in the IOC administration, receives at least $1.8m for these obsequious services in the current 2021-2024 Olympic cycle. Everything in this so-called ethics department is non-transparent. Contrary to what Bach and his spokesman Mark Adams (at least $2.4m apanage from 2021-2024) have just claimed.

Funnily enough, we at THE INQUISITOR have since been asked by IOC members and federation presidents whether we have the ethics secretary's submission.

Much more important and frightening is the comment that a change to the Olympic Charter could easily be decided by postal vote in the autumn. This reference is treacherous and reveals the extent of the problem.

It will be dealt with in passing.

And even if Bach should surprisingly decide not to extend his term after all, he would have bought time and taken away important time for anyone else who is not his favourite for the IOC presidency to position themselves as a candidate.

The damage caused by such plans to extend terms of office has only just been seen in the example of UEFA. Its reputation continues to decline. The IOC, on the other hand, is already operating at a level that is far below the regulations of many world sports federations that have such term limits – and those that do not feel obliged to adapt their regulations to so-called good governance standards under these circumstances.

4 - Propaganda reign. Exclusion of media.

This week, the recent meeting of the IOC executive board was another excellent opportunity to observe how pretentiously opaque the IOC is acting under the Sun King. The public is now excluded from most of these meetings. There are now almost only video press conferences, to which invitations are issued at short notice and at which propaganda directors Mark Adams and Christian Klaue (at least $2.3m apanage from 2021-2024) are even better able to prevent potentially unwelcome questions.

It was common practice at the IOC under Samaranch and Rogge and for decades before that to open the headquarters in Lausanne to media representatives during the EB meetings. It was possible to make direct contact with the decision-makers. The Sun King has abolished this. Work opportunities and contact during IOC sessions were also gradually reduced.

The IOC does not publish minutes of meetings anyway.

5 - Comprehensive lack of transparency.

Briefly on the subject of publications: many Olympic sports federations now publish the minutes of their general assemblies and most important meetings. The IOC does not do this. Under the Sun King, important information flows were cut. For example, under his predecessor Rogge, there were reports on the Olympic sports and federations after the Olympic Games, highly interesting and important data that allowed conclusions to be drawn about the spread of these sports and public interest. On this basis, a kind of ranking of Olympic sports could be drawn up, which in turn was extremely important for a public debate on the Olympic programme. The Sun King put an end to all this.

Although annual reports were published under the Sun King, these also increasingly mutated into propaganda papers. Numerous basics about the core business of the IOC, the marketing of the Olympic programme (detailed breakdown of all income and equally detailed breakdown of the distribution of the sums among the so-called stakeholders) remain secret. However, if I understand the Sun King's propagandists and himself correctly, it is claimed that the IOC is disclosing even more information than it is obliged to.

6 - Disempowerment of the members. Bending of the Olympic Charter.

Under the Sun King, the power of the executive board was greatly strengthened – at the expense of the influence of the IOC session, which is no longer the highest body. This is a huge step backwards. Never before in the history of the IOC, which was founded in 1894, has the executive board been so powerful. And this EB is hand-picked by the Sun King. Almost all decisions are already made by the executive board – even the awarding of Olympic Games. Approval by the session is just folklore.

The Sun King alone determines the composition of the commissions that carry out the preparatory work in his favour, and the EB, which is in total bondage to him, makes the decisions on this basis. There are no surprises, no resistance, no real options – just the will of the Sun King, always disguised as a supposedly democratic decision-making process. In reality, however, almost all important decisions in recent years have been characterised by a blatant lack of transparency.

7 - The Olympic Games are awarded solely according to the Sun King's taste.

A blatant example of the disregard for the Olympic Charter will be the awarding of the 2030 Winter Olympics to France at the next IOC session in Paris in July.

According to the charter, however, the Olympic Games may not be awarded to a country that is bidding (or that was chosen as the organiser under dubious circumstances, as in this case).

This is no longer a problem in the IOC under the Sun King. The Sun King, who always claims to respect and uphold the charter, actually only interprets the holy paper as he needs to.

There is no longer any kind of an open bidding competition. Never before has the awarding of these mega-events been so opaque as under the Sun King. Nothing is traceable or verifiable. All meetings are secret.

The negative highlight in 2021 was the dubious decision in favour of the 2032 Games in Brisbane, because the Sun King did nothing other than award the Games to his friend John Coates – the man who can be described as a bribe payer for Sydney 2000, among other things, and who provides loyal services to the Sun King as the boss of the so-called Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

Like many other senior IOC officials, Coates is a living, walking conflict of interest.

The head of the commission chosen by the Sun King and therefore responsible for Brisbane 2032 was Norwegian Kristin Kloster Aasen, and she was immediately promoted to the executive board in 2021.

That's how it always works.

Problems such as those now becoming apparent in Brisbane and elsewhere are therefore home-made. The claims of IOC propaganda that the Sun King has revolutionised the awarding of Olympic Games and made them more democratic and cheaper to organise are what they are: propaganda.

A brief historical digression: the head of the IOC's so-called Evaluation Commission for the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, which will for all eternity stand for Olympic corruption, was the current Sun King. But as a strict and highly attentive head of the commission, he was of course unaware at the time that many IOC members were being bribed in a variety of ways. Incidentally, the Sun King went on to head the IOC evaluation commission for the 2004 Summer Games as well, which were awarded to one of the weakest candidates – Athens – and have since become a prime example of Olympic gigantomania and waste of billions of public money.

One of the most exciting questions these days is whether the Sun King has already promised the 2036 Summer Games to the billionaire Ambani family during his visit to Mumbai in October.

Mukesh Ambani, the patron, is planning big things for 2036, big business. The Sun King has already brought Nita Ambani, the patron's wife, to the IOC in 2016. One of the Ambanis' favourite sports, cricket, is now also an Olympic sport.

So how far will the Sun King go this time?

The question of whether he has promised the Ambani family and India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is increasingly behaving like an autocrat, the 2036 Summer Games is of interest to some big players in the movement. Qatar's Emir Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, himself an IOC member, was not amused in 2021, we recall, when the Sun King awarded the 2032 Games to John Coates. Tamim is not prepared to accept a similar situation with India and the Ambanis.

According to our sources Tamim has recently sent emissaries on an Olympic 2036 mission to Paris to consult with Napoleon Macron.

Macron, for his part, is playing the international game as the big string-puller and has already promised Modi help with the Olympic bid.

So it goes.

Of course, the Sun King didn't mean what he himself is doing when he once again quoted the Olympic Charter in his crude declaration against the politicisation of sport:

"Recognising that sport occurs within the framework of society, sports organisations within the Olympic Movement shall apply political neutrality. They have the rights and obligations of autonomy, which include freely establishing and controlling the rules of sport, determining the structure and governance of their organisations, enjoying the right of elections free from any outside influence and the responsibility for ensuring that principles of good governance be applied."

8 - The historical disgrace of the Sochi Doping Games.

The Sun King, once an athlete himself, always claims that his business is all about sport and only about the athletes. Well, here too his record is rather disastrous. Because the Sun King is responsible for the Winter Olympics, which can only correctly be called Doping Games.

The Sun King himself did not guarantee the integrity of the competition in Sochi in 2014, which was his most important task. Instead, the Sun King allowed himself to be celebrated with Vladimir Putin and made a decisive contribution to his propaganda games, which ended with the annexation of Crimea, the beginning of Putin's planned destruction of Ukraine.

This is one of the undeniable historical truths.

The Sun King has never taken responsibility for any of this. Such greatness and self-criticism are alien to him.

The Sun King and his propagandists like to present it as if nobody could have guessed who Putin really was back then ... but all that is nonsense. Even back then and in the many years before, it was possible to know almost everything. But the Sun King didn't care. He continued to meet with Putin long afterwards.

But, as outlined at the beginning, the Sun King is now presenting himself as the supposed victim of Russian verbal attacks and scam campaigns in a blatant distortion of the facts and total exaggeration. Because he is at the centre of his Olympic universe.

His latest declaration talks about a violation of the Olympic Charter and UN resolutions as well as "disrespect for the athletes and for the integrity of sports competitions" by Russia.

Well, this also applies to the IOC.

However, the IOC has accepted crimes on the Olympic Charter for many years, not just in Sochi in 2014, and even helped to fuel it – sometimes actively, sometimes by looking the other way, negating and failing to act. In Russia, China and elsewhere.

9 - Controls, rules and sanctions only exist consistently for athletes, but not for officials and federations.

The athletes, who are supposedly at the centre of IOC business, are the only members of the so-called Olympic family who consistently face competition – and therefore also rules, controls and sanctions.

However, there is no open and regulated competition between sports federations and sports, non-Olympic and Olympic. There are not even clear and verifiable rules on how and when sports and its federations can become Olympic and why, when and how sports and federations lose their Olympic status. And this has become much worse under the supposed reformer Bach since 2013.

Rogge tried and despaired.

The Sun King did what Sun Kings do: he had things decided, non-transparently, in small commissions appointed by him, without a verifiable framework.

The situation is similar with top officials in the movement. Nothing is consistently regulated, there are always loopholes between the so-called ethics committees of the federations, associations and institutions. The system is designed to create such loopholes. And one of the worst roles is played by the IOC's so-called ethics commission.

10 - Destroying the balance between the pillars of the Olympic Movement.

In Olympic history, even in the most difficult times, there have always been internal forces that have balanced the relationship between the IOC, sports federations and National Olympic Committees to some extent – the relationship between the so-called pillars of the movement. Historically, this balance and the associated power struggles and debates were important. The Sun King, who always claimed that the IOC was not a world government of sport and that it was only responsible for the Olympic Games, left a huge mark here. The General Assembly of all International Sports Federations (GAISF) was dissolved. The General Assembly of the NOCs (ANOC) faces a similar threat.

What remains is the IOC with the Sun King as the most powerful authority, which claims to speak for the whole of sport or not, depending on its interests.

What remains are federations that don't know what rules apply, what they have to do to move up in the system and possibly become Olympic, I mean: what they really have to do in terms of content, apart from satisfying the changing wishes of the IOC administration.

And because this is the case, because the Sun King has also promoted the politicisation of sport like no other, because he has usurped all power and is striving for total control in his Olympic mania, the system is extremely vulnerable and is imploding.

The system is totally customised for him. His aides and propagandists constantly whisper to the sports family that only the Sun King can manoeuvre the rocking ship through difficult waters and must therefore remain in office for a few more years. As is the case in totalitarian systems.

The system becomes weaker and weaker. At some point – in this decade, the next or the one after that – the Sun King will have to abdicate, even if only for biological reasons.

That will be the day when – name it – Putin, Xi Jinping, MBS, Tamim or their successors take over without any problems. That could be the end of the so-called Olympic movement. Because there is no longer anyone of calibre in world sport who could stand up with convincing principles and an independent policy – and survive to tell the tale.

That and nothing else is the legacy of the autocratic Sun King. A mess.

Like a lot of Andrew Jennings’ work (Jens was actually a collaborator of Jennngs’), It is certainly a grey area between journalism and activism. But it’s important such activism journalism still exists to scrutinise the Olympics and its players, especially now so many previously respected Olympic observers, like Inside The Games, have been neutered (The Inquisitor has a good piece on that as well).

If I have one criticism of Jens, it’s that he tends to waffle on with polemics at the start of his articles, and only gets to the meat of it later on.

I think what this latest article articulates well is how compared to the past autocratic presidents like Brundage and Samaranch, they at least operated within and had to adhere to some stabilised safeguards to their power (they often didn’t always get things their way). Whereas Bach has really upended everything and concentrated power in himself - really very much like Putin - and many of his “reforms” are proving to be backward steps for the Olympics.

Holy moly! That's truly an eye-opening piece!

And lol to the "awarding of the 2032 Olympics to John Coates". But you know that a certain you-know-who would just label that entire article as "more conspiracy theories being thrashed around".

I find the points about Qatar being at odds with India possibly being groomed for 2036 quite intriguing, too, since the tamir apparently said that they won't put up with another 2032-style "awarding".

Now I can totally understand when Stefan says that Bachy is not well-liked in Germany, & that any effort to try & bring any Olympic Games there during his watch should be avoided at all costs. Cause you can't get anymore blatant about "Sun King" than that piece right there!

Under Bachy, it really does look like there is NO longer a point to "bid" (or more like under his "new-norm", be among "the 'crowded field' of interested parties") for the Olympics. Cause now, it really is a matter of "don't call us, we'll call you".

But will it really change things?

I have no problem with the way 2032 was awarded nor that it went to Brisbane.  It follows the continental geo-political rotation.  And it sets up 2036 very nicely for either going back to Europe or . . .  careful . . . the unreliable India.  And already with 2034 going to, we'd assume, a well run Salt Lake 2034 (and possibly last Winter Games) followed by another ME horror extravaganza in Saudi Arabia 2034, then the IOC really has to be careful how 2036 goes -- and I wouldn't give it to India despite it being the most populous nation now.

Baron, for someone who loves the extravagance of the Olympics & critiques every single aspect of the organizing committee (i.e. Tony E), I'm quite surprised that you're not actually having a field day with the way Brisbane is currently (or more like not) handling things down here, instead of just having "no problem" with it. Baffling to say the least, considering all your critique on Paris 2024.

Just 24 hours ago, I also would've said India is quite unlikely. But after reading that scathing piece, I find it more than likely now. All Bach is seemed to be interested in is power. Much like all the other wanna-be dictatorship types (i.e.orange clown). Just look at all of Bach's "friends".

Atlanta got awarded in 1990, at the session in Tokyo. SLC got awarded in 1995 at the session in Birmingham, England I think it was.

Correction: SLC got awarded 2002 at the IOC session in 1995 in Budapest. The Birmingham, England session was for the previous awarding of the 1998 Winter Olympics which were won by Nagano.

So in other words, both Atlanta & SLC were won in non-U.S. IOC sessions, therefore not breaking any of the Olympic Charter rules at the time of their respective bid races, unlike what Nice is facing in Paris this summer.

It's why the scheduled IOC session in Milan in 2019 had to be moved to Switzerland ultimately, cause Milan entered the 2026 race after it was already slated for the session. So interesting to see what B&C will in the end do with Nice & it's 'awarding'.

Remember the earlier deal of cooperation between France and India... Interesting also applied a line of the sporting boom with the help of France in the Indian bid.

Also it's not a coincidence the new entente cordiale between Erdogan and Istanbul's mayor Imamoglu (Political nemesis). Although they keep their "roles" in public, both had been quite diplomatic related to this bid. Istanbul looks to count the full blessing of the full board of European Games (With Spyros Capralos defending the bid, even over others like Madrid or some German cities). And as "coincidence" the announcement of the host city for European Games 2027 will be late 2024, post 2024 Olympics. This time, Istanbul will have the full support of the European vote+the Muslim vote.

Currently watching the bigger picture, many of these isolated news and events from 2023 and 2024 are giving us the path for the real next host cities and the deal with Bach. And it's also not a coincidence both Erdogan and Modi had been so cooperative and shaking hands with Bach and the IOC. The only question mark left is what to do with Brisbane.

It's an important job but seriously, it's a sports administrator, not the Pope. It's actually serious because I think this is part of the New Norm too, the IOC is now very much just the President. Under Rogge, yes he was President, whoever is will always be important, but the rest of the IOC had function, it was all relevant & there was opposing/alternative views put in public by members - like a proper parliament almost. Now it's a bit like Russia - there's the President, the closest advisors, everyone else in the system might as well not be there. Maybe that's Bach's next step...

Zeus demands IOC voting reforms, decries “fake”, “stolen” elections

OLYMPIA, April 8, 2024 (NTONN): Reclusive former leader of the Olympian Pantheon, Zeus, has intervened in the current divisive and controversial International Olympic Committee presidential election campaign, calling for major reforms to the IOC electoral process to prevent another “stolen” election.

The exalted one delivered his demands, which call for all future IOC elections at his held under his direct supervision at his temple at Olympia, Greece, via his earthly representative, Greek IOC member, Spyros Capralos.

Zeus: “I’m smarter than Bach and Coates combined”. Picture: NTONN

“Those pissants haven’t held a fair election in years. Sleepy Tom (Bach) and Crooked Coates couldn’t win a fair election if the were running for mayor of he Olympic Village. They think they’re smart, but I could wipe my marble floors with their innards,” the All Father said a a campaign rally alongside Capralos.

”Look at that Brisbane ‘election’. That was as fake and stolen as Donald Trump’s tan. Brisbane won fairly? My shiny gold, ivory and electrum arse it did! My arse sh!ts on that so-called ‘fair’ election,” he thundered.

The tabled Mighty Zeus IOC Electoral Form Act 2024 proposes that all future IOC Executive Board Meetings and elections be held at the Temple of Zeus at Olympia, under the aegis of the Merciful King of the Gods himself.

All elections would be conducted by members casting their votes on pottery shards, or ostraki, which would then be carried in gilded vessels by the God’s priestess attendants to the Supreme Deity’s private quarters for his own complete and private scrutiny.

Ostraki, or pottery shards, will be used to record IOC members’ votes

”I may require the sacrifice of a bull or two, or maybe even a virgin flame priestess, to interpret the results, but when I have ruled, you will know he results are just and fair,” the Wondrous One explained.

”In case of a tie, I will exhume Baron Pierre’s heart and read it for signs of the correct course.”

Zeus said he would overrule any objections to his proposal by smiting “the craven traitorous arsehole with my divine lightning bolts”.

”If f**king Bach thinks he can usurp my throne with another term, he’ll learn the meaning of the term ostracism,” he decreed.
