I'd like to start a discussion on the current state of the Paralympics and what it could be in the future. Let's hash out the pros and cons of the Paralympic Games being staged before, alongside, and after the Olympics. Let's talk event logistics, impacts on media, political influence, effect on athletes, etc. There are so many angles to look at. At first thought, I'd really like it to be staged during the Olympics, by extending the Olympic program another two weeks to accommodate Paralympic events being fully integrated throughout. I mean, "para" infers that they run parallel to the Olympics. Last time I checked, AFTER isn't "running parallel." Further analysis to come!

This is just a hypothetical at this stage. We’s surely all hope it doesn’t happen. But it sure is ominous. But if it does, what would it mean for the games - apart from the fact of giving us far bigger things to worry about. Do the games get called off? Is Russia expelled for breaking the Olympic truce? Do the contentious teams get separated? I mean, at the very least it would make the village very tense. There could be altercations between athletes. But how far materially would the games be impacted?

Yet again the Winter Olympics is causing havoc with the environment http://www.theguardian.com/environment/2015/sep/16/olympic-organisers-destroy-sacred-south-korean-forest-to-create-ski-run. The IOC claims to uphold the environment as its Third Dimension! Same happened at Vancouver and Sochi and is also happening at Beijing2022 http://www.nature.com/news/chinese-biologists-lead-outcry-over-winter-olympics-ski-site-1.18174?from=timeline&isappinstalled=0

Which cities would you like to bid for the 2022 Summer Youth Olympics and is there any Proposed Bids? rr

INTERNATIONAL OLYMPIC COMMITTEE The President To: the Members of the Gamesbid Olympic Family For immediate release London, 9 February 2015 Re: Question-and-Answer Session As promised, the IOC is putting up a "Ask the Applicant Cities" thread to answer any questions you, IOC Executive Members or IOC Members, may have regarding each city's bid. Only rule regarding the discussion: Keep it polite and courteous. Don't make accusations you can't back up and please argue on the substance of the proposed bid. That way, we all will end up learning from the answers. To the Applicant Cities: Answer truthfully and creatively. NOTE: Due to the recent issues regarding the Applicant Files posted by Paris and Toronto, these cities will (for now) not be included. Once they have posted their revised Applicant Files to the IOC's approval, they will be given an opportunity to participate as well. The Applicant Files (in alphabetical order) Cape Town (South Africa) Copenhagen/Malmo (Denmark/Sweden) Melbourne (Australia) New York City (United States) Sapporo (Japan)

I understand Rule #33 of the Olympic Charter, concerning single city or country hosting of the Olympic games. Does anyone know where I can find the origin of the rule which PREVENTED join bids from Olympic cities/countries? I saw this provision was added to the Olympic charter in 1921, but I cannot find related literature about why the rule for a single city hosting model was instituted in the first place. Can anyone point me in the right direction on this, or perhaps offer guidance as to where I might find information as it relates to the origins of this rule? Again, I understand it has now been changed, but am needing to understand its origins. Thank you.

How does the IOC Progress? Is Bach the Right Person to move the IOC Forward? Is Bach too Political? Does Bach have enough Control or too much Control? Should Bach separate the IOC from Politics? These are Important Questions. Discuss it all here.
