Now we know about Doordarshan's TV plans. Doordarshan could well earn Rs 20 crore from its revenue of the Olympics. Its sponsors are the Department of Consumer Affiars, India Oil, Life Insurance Company of India, Oil and Natural Gas, and Hero Motors. But the real thing of interest, something that is growing in India with having some strong medal contenders despite cricket's great strength, is DD Sports will have 14 hours every day with swimming, field hockey, archery, boxing, badminton, and track and field from 12:30 local time onward. Before that, it will show the Opening Ceremony. DD National will focus on the Indian Olympians with a 30-minute capsule at 7:30 and then a one-hour highlight show later at 9am.

VTV in Vietnam will come into London led by journalist Phan Ngoc Tien, VTV's Deputy Head Sports & Recreation Economic Information, "the commander" of VTV 2012 Olympics, on behalf of the operational crew in Olympics, with Studio S8 as the main headquarters having been prepared for the coverage with EURO 2012 and World Cup, ASIAD, and the South East Asian Games. If I read that right, VTV will have VTV2, VTV3, and VTV6 coveraing the Olympics. After showing the Opening Ceremony, its coverage will be soccer, swimming, track and field, all the combat sports, and volleyball while granting priority to Vietnamese Olympians and the host nation and go live to them. VTV will send a team of 7 to London of reporters and experts. Could work with BTC.

I can easily picture what the opening montage of shots will be for NBC's broadcast of the London Olympics as it plays the famous "Bugler's Dream". Everything aerial: The rolling Scottish hills, white cliffs of Dover, large, lush English countrysides, English moors, Welsh houses, sheep runng through the large grass, and, of course, the shots of London Bridge, Parliament Building with Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, the London Eye, the Tower of London, St. Paul's Cathedral, and Westminster Abbey--all along the Thames River as it climaxes in the music before showing the NBC Olympic logo. Like to know about the NBC intro montage it will do and what themes it'll convey.

You know what? I think you're right. They had likely done that while preparing themselves for that big wedding for, say, being there for at least a month last year. So I can imagine the NBC was there all over the UK filming all that in their aerial shots--and lots of them--for the intro along with the "fairly sizable" library of contemporary London and British footage it already has. I know NBC has done those dry runs in the UK (not just London) in just about everything to get prepared.

Which reminds me. To be honest, I haven't seen those British Tourism commercials on NBC that were airing during these four years. Surely we can remember when, starting with Barcelona, NBC really started to take over the US Olympic broadcasting, we would see commercials from the Spanish Tourism Commission specifically about Barcelona and later with the Australian Tourist Commission during NBC Sports' commercial breaks to get ourselves for the upcoming Olympics in those countries since NBC had the US TV rights to those Games. I must admit that I tend to work significantly during the weekends to miss the British one.

DIRECTV gets into the Olympic act once again in the US with a mosaic Olympic channel that includes Telemundo.

That's surprising. I certainly don't have a 3DTV in my household. I don't think many that I instantly know have such a set unless you get the 3D capabilities from digital satelitte/cable/telco. Interest is surely there and I know sales are solid going to the likes of Best Buy. This is TBS' Olympic website. My Japanese is almost nonexistent. Can't do any translations with this one at the moment to provide further info on it. Its English version holds much less information with nothing on the Olympics whatsoever. But from what I can gather the TBS coverage starts from July 29-August 12 with some days skipped, and it looks as though there will be judo, boxing, taekwondo and/or weightlifting. If you thought the Hong Kong Olympic TV saga with the free to air realm was bad, wait until you hear about the Thailand situation among the FTA Olympic broadcasters. Modernine TV is part of a Thai Olympic TV consortium of its own called the TV Poll with NBT, TV5, and Channel 3, and Channel 7 in a cost-sharing basis. During EURO 2012 there was a scramble to save 7 million satelitte subscribers from having the TrueVision coverage blacked out during that over copyright grounds from the rights holders, and the FTAs were rapidly looking for a solution for the London Olympics. With that disaster out of the way, this controversy stemmed from a dispute between the TV Pool and True Visions over the TV rights to the Olympics. TrueVisions has the satelitte coverage rights. Right now, the NTBC "must carry" the Olympics so thus the Games will not be blacked out and to have stronger and clearer rules in terms of this going forward.

My attempt to get digital satelitte just ran into a snag today in my ordering process. I think it has something to do with giving them an incorrect SSN by one number. Will try again tomorrow-Tuesday.

I expect for Mongolia to have its own Olympic consortium of TV channels to do the London Olympics with TV5, TV9, MBS, Channel 25, NTV, UBS, and MNB all returning. Yesterday I checked to see if they have anything up. But that wasn't the case. TV5 has been the closest but it just says "London 2012" on the website subsection for it.

Canadian Olympic Broadcast Media Consortium announced yesterday its team of Olympic broadcasters from the multicultural portion of the broadcast from OMNI and ATN. Languages used are Cantonese Chinese, Mandarin Chinese, Tamil, Punjabi, Italian, Urdu, Portuguese, Hindi, and Bengali.

I loved their site in Vancouver, where they streamed as good as everything, but as far as I remember their site wasn't available in all European countries in Beijing? (I think it was blocked here in Denmark, for example). But that does not seem to be a problem this time around, and the service looks absolutely top-notch with 12 live feeds and feeds from 30 EBU members broadcasts. It's a great alternative in the UK especially should what is expected to be unprecedented demand cause the BBC streaming a few problems.

And from what I understand with the channel streaming every channel is available apart from the broadcaster in your own country, where you'll be redirected to the broadcasters website. RTE in Ireland have even made a point of mentioning it for Irish viewers not in Ireland during the games.

I'm not going to get DIRECTV in time for the women's and men's soccer games prior to the Opening Ceremony. When I get my check deposited Friday, I'll try again that morning. Of course, the online, both live and on-demand will be there, but it won't be the same. My discussions on the recording likely will come Thursday.

After several months and weeks of anticipating, America Television Canal 9 in Peru finally puts up its Olympics portal but it lacks anything in the way of Olympic television schedule details. Likely a reflection of its apparent lack of serious committment to market it, as relected by the concerns of forum users I linked earlier. Even its South American neighbors with comparably more or less TV hours of FTA footage are more into them at this point.

This is the Olympic team for Sydney's radio station 2GB 873 AM. Bit surprised that Jane Saville is taking the role of the ex-Australian Olympian in this roster in the place of Nicole Stevenson. Georgian Public Broadcasting will have its 1TV (the First Channel) show the Olympics. It will show the Opening Ceremony live at midnight (Georgia time) with blocks of Olympic programming on 13:30-16 (includes Arena), 16:40-20, and 21-22 (includes the daily sports show Arena), and 23-2:30 the next day. The daily Olympic blocks will vary on 1TV with Sunday from 13-16 (incl. Arena) and 17-2:30 (also incl. Arena).

As for the fellow former Soviet republic neighbor Armenia, the First Public Telelvision Channel will kick things off for itself with the Opening Ceremony, shown late at night there also on midnight. Its coverage will be structured like what we would previously seen out of them: taking on select Olympic sports that have high Armenian interest like for the upcoming weekend basketball, judo, beach volleyball, and soccer.

I would too. It's been a little bit frustrating that I would struggle for weeks on end scourging on the Internet about many nations' Olympic broadcast plans, Especially from some European, Asian, and African ones.

Going back to talking about the intro NBC will use, ever since Atlanta NBC would have something coming with narration usually from Bob Costas (though James Earl Jones did two of them for Sydney and Athens) actually before the sweeping aerial montage to "Bugler's Dream" before the Opening Ceremony. Expect nothing different this time though Barcelona didn't. Makes you wonder for us what kind of brief essay narrative we'll get this time. I'm thinking it will have to do with London and the history of hosting the Ganmes three times and how so much has changed since 1948 there with some thigns staying the same.

Ever since NBC started to have the rights to the Olympics starting with Seoul, the Peacock would have those quick snippets of the previous day's highlights at the start of the commercial break during the second half hour in primetime sponsored by the likes of MCI, McDonald's, and Coca-Cola. Remember those Seoul/Barcelona/Atlanta: The Last 24 Hours...Let Us Show You and then later Coca-Cola and McDonald's would do that and would go into said sponsors' commercial following MCI's absorbtion into Verizon? Who's the sponsor will be this time around if this is going to happen again?

Actually, CyBC 1 (or PIK 1) will air some Olympic coverage in Cyprus too. But it will be snippets at select times with some basketball, fencing, swimming, and beach volleyball into the next week. CyBC (or PIK2) will telecast the bulk of the London Olympics more nonstop with Olympic Preview.

Well, it turns out that Nova will not broadcast the 2012 London Olympics as a pay-TV subscriber after all in Greece. It's all going to be under public broadcaster ERT with its three channels ET1, NET, and ET3. ERT's WebTV will help cover them too. ET1 and ET3 holds the bulk of the coverage. NET has both ceremonies, in case you're wondering, and a daily Olympic highlight show.

Ladies and gentlemen, we finally and officially got Russia on this as far the scheduling is concerned. Right now, Russia 2 from VGTRK has the preliminary women's and men's soccer games before the Opening Ceremony. But not all of them in each sets. It does have All Inclusive--London 2012 and Team 2012 with Dmitry Gubernievym, Olympic Diary, and Olympic News Channel. Russia 2 has lots of the coverage each day from 12pm-3am. As for Channel One (Perviy Kanal), its London Olympic broadcasts will start with the Opening Ceremony on goes on, like with Russia 2, everyday of the Games. RTR's Russia 1 does the late night highlights from 23:20-3 with Olympic Diary in the morning. The following is Channel One Perviy Kanal's schedule. Russia 2's and Sport 1's and Sport 2's will arrive tomorrow.

Have been watching a number of the specials on the Sky platform here in New Zealand.

Half of the Olympic networks went live a few days ago featuring episodes of Going for Gold aswell as the start of the Womens Football matches. There are still 4 or 5 to come on in the next day or so.

The likes of the History Channel has also been showing Tony Robinson's London Games, aswell as some of the older Olympic Docos - such as *the Ancient Olympics*.

Have been watching a number of the specials on the Sky platform here in New Zealand.

Half of the Olympic networks went live a few days ago featuring episodes of Going for Gold aswell as the start of the Womens Football matches. There are still 4 or 5 to come on in the next day or so.

The likes of the History Channel has also been showing Tony Robinson's London Games, aswell as some of the older Olympic Docos - such as *the Ancient Olympics*.

Here is how Sri Lanka's Rupavahini channels will deal with the London Olympic coverage as the exclusive broadcaster. Channel Eye is where the wall-to-wall Olympic coverage is going on from 8:30-2:30am with periodical breaks for news of Esanin Puwaith. Rupavahini is doing the nightly highlights at 23:30 for a half hour before ending the broadcasting day. At 22:20 on Channel Eye, the highlights will deal with the Sri Lankan athletes during the daily broadcasting called London Serisa and a repeat showing of the Opening Ceremony. Furthermore, Rupa also has Olympic highlights at 11:30. Channel Eye's got the Opening Ceremony live from July 28-29 during the late night hours from 1:30-4:30 with two hours of Olympic Discussions before that.

Is NBC the only broadcaster in the world that's actually not carrying the games live?

No. Far from it. For example AKTV on IBC in the Philippines has televised some Olympic events like with some basketball games on tape delay (but it will indicate to you on that on the schedule). FOXTEL has numerous events, a majority of them, delayed if not encore presentations down in Australia. But like with a lot of broadcasters worldwide, they apparently don't seem to do it for ratings' sake or place an emphasis on delaying things until prime time, since that's not as a big deal for them like NBC does.

As I suspected from out of South Korea with not just SBS and the other top TV networks there like KBS and MBC, we got their sports channels involved in the Olympics coverage there. Not only is KBS has its two channels doing it, KBS 1 and KBS 2, it has its sports channel KBS N Sports doing a lot of the Olympics coverage. MBC has MBC Sports+ airing them too. SBS has its comprehensive Olympic sports coverage extended with SBS ESPN. Just tried getting into translating the KBS N Sports channel to discover more about the coverage. Alas, it wasn't successful.

OSN isn't the only pay-TV broadcaster doing the London Olympics for the Middle East and, in some cases, beyond those nations with significant Muslim populations. GEM is doing it too with broadcasting range going to Bahrain, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, United Arab Emirates, Yemen, Djibouti, Mauritania, Somalia, Sudan, and even South Africa (online only in that case) with GEM Sports that is broadcasting them 24/7 live and in HD on 10 free-to-air channels through satelitte.

North African nations Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Libya, and Egypt aren't getting access to GEM Sports TV and OSN, as some may previously assume because those nations' broadcasting entities also happen to be EBU members as well as ABSU ones. So they also get access to the Eurovision Sports Olympic streams and to whatever Eurosport offers them on TV and online.

It is worth noting that Trinidad and Tobago residents are not getting access to the 7 Olympic Internet streams Sportsmax is providing to the 17 West Indies nations and territories Sportsmax covers--all English-speaking and Commonwealth members. Why not Trinidad and Tobago? I think it has something to do with the fact that DIRECTV made a deal there with the Olympics for satelitte and online when possible. On the free-to-air TV side of things in Trinidad and Tobago, the Caribbean Communication Network/TV6 sent a 17-person team contingent to London. CCN/TV6's coverage goes live from 3am-6pm with a brief break for Mornign Edition and then delayed material from 8pm-3am that was not shown during the day with regular programming filling in between (6-8pm). Meanwhile, its sports journalist Vinod Nawarni is part of the Sportsmax Olympic team along with TV6's. Kwame Laurence as studio host and Joel Villafana are in London too right now.

The Roar's HardcorePrawn expresses his disappointment that a lot of Aussies share regarding the early evaluation of Nine's Olympic coverage. Disgusting and disappointing many. I agree Nine could've shown some Olympic soccer prior to the Opening Ceremony, even if the Olyroos and the Mathildas actually didn't qualify. But Nine felt it wouldn't make sense to do so to attract as many Australian TV viewers as possible. I write posts for an Australian basketball website too called Ozhoopsboards with the same moniker. There, many of my fellow posters have fun with butchering of the prononuciations on even Aussie Olympians like Elizabeth Cambage from sportscasters. Yeah, Eddie McGuire was up to his uncocnscious and unprofessional blundering, especially when it came down to when Norway was marching in the OC.

EMTV takes care of the Olympics for Papua New Guinea. Schedule is a bit irregular but the blocks of Olympic programming tends to be from morning to late afternoon (like, say, 9am-5pm) with sometimes highlights attatched to the end of that programming for Papua New Guinea Olympic athletes. Then things get back up and running at 9pm and onto overnight until 8am. More details will follow later after some studying.

Everythings is going smoothly with this unprecedented partnership on FTA HK TV with ATV and TVB sharing the 200 hours of coverage that i-CABLE allowed them to have. Both will cover the Opening and Closing Ceremonies with daily broadcasts divided into four broadcasting blocks with the two TV networks alternating them and not sharing them. But here comes a problem: how will the two deal with the more popular events like whenever Liu Xiang does his thing in the 110m hurdles. Which of the two gets to covers that? Also, TVB sent some staff to London while ATV refused to follow suit and not "duplicate" matters.

Like with many South American Olympic broadcasters that have the rights to the Olympics not named Brazil, Argentina, or even Venezuela, Colombia's Caracol is showing the London Olympics in short daily blocks with the first one here for Caracol as the largest one in terms of programming--3:30-6am, 10:30-11:30am, 4-5pm, and a daily late night highlights/review and special Olympic programming from 11:30pm-12:30am and onto the late night/early morning hours. All that so as not to interfere with the morning news, its lucrative telenovelas, games shows, and news.

I've noticed on NOS' TV guide that with Nederland 1 showing the Olympics it is showing ample coverage of sailing on TV like nobody else has so far anywhere in the world. I could be eventually proven wrong on that and I'll check on it.

Under its "ARD, ZDF, und Sie" banner that they share with sports like with the World Cups (both men's and women's), the Olympics and the Paralympics coverage are brought together by those two German TV channels. Emphasized here in this integrating campaign's TV spot.

Puerto Rico TV made some history with its Olympic broadcasting for London with the Olympic Alliance Puerto Rico TV from Puerto Rico TV (channel 6.1) and the Puerto Rico Sports Network (6.2) teaming up with Univision Channel 11 and TeleIsla Channel 7. Together they all cover 300 hours of coverage with PRTV, PRSN, and Univision each showing the Opening Ceremony live unlike when it had NBC doing it four years ago for them. In these stories, you'll get to know the Olympic Alliance Puerto Rico sportscasting team and see the nice set they have. The OC attracted monster ratings for them.

RTE Sport's really nice intro for the 2012 London Olympic Games that features Irish gymnasts Ceara Tonna-Barthet (Rhythmic Gymnastics), Geoff Rellis (Artistic Gymnastics), and Nicole Mawhinney (Women's Gymnastics). There are other Irish athletes in this, but I will have to ID them later. Its highlighted as such because this was uploaded from Gymnastics Irleand. Is the reason there's some purple in this because of Cadbury's primary sponsorship? Still, one of the better openers of the London Olympics I've seen.

We finally got TV Asahi involved in this for this Olympic roster. Their coverage goes from July 25 to August 10 with women's soccer (it begins TV Asahi's coverage and ends it), lots of swimming, judo (of course), women's table tennis, men's soccer, some track and field events, and synchronized swimming. TV Asahi's Olympic cast team is former tennis player Shuzo Matsuoka, Yoshie Takeuchi, Yasuko Miyajima, Shinji Yoshino, and Sawa Teruji Angle.

Belize is represented by Channel 7 with an arrangement by IMC, which sold the Belizan TV rights to Channel 7. Even though Belize is technically a Central American nation (formerly British Honduras until its 1981 independence), it's more alligned with the Caribbean nations socially and culturally than its Central American neighbors. This explains the IMC stuff. Channel 7's coverage started on July 27 at 4am with women's soccer and then live coverage of the Opening Ceremony at 2pm. For coverage, it is more with a Caribbean perspective round the clock (396 hours) with Caribbean commentators in six different blocks (Daybreak, Daytime, Crunch Time, Olympics Extra, London 180 & Las’ Lap) providing Channel 7’s viewers with up-to-date information and coverage of the events, expert analysis, so none of that pro-US bias coverage (read: NBC) will ever penetrate as it previous has been for them. Well, I finally got Nicaragua after a long period of frustration with what was (not) coming from Canal 10's Olympic website until well before now. Canal 10 is part of the Ratensa family of networks as well as Grupo Albavision. What it does is have their portion of the live Olympic coverage done in the early morning hours and then let Canal 9 take care of the rest of the day from 6am-4pm. Yesterday, they even shared the women's marathon. The IOC broadcaster list says Canal 11 is involved in this too

You know, I did manage to watch some live Olympic Games action last Thursday afternoon online as I was writing post for this thread with the USA facing Brazil in a men's volleyball group match and some earlier men's badminton (would you believe given the controversy it got that week?) from Tonga Television's website from SKY Pacific's Super Channel before the connection went off. It was the world feed with the OBSL announcers as you would expect. No info on the Olympic coverage from Television Tonga 1 though. Apparently, everything is taken from the Super Channel on TV Tonga.

For some nations and territories, it's been rather difficult to find any info online regarding those nations' right broadcasters, their plans, and what they will carry. RTSH in Albania is currently showing the London Olympics on, according to the IOC 2012 Olympic broadcasting list, TVSH and TVSH 2. Though in the case of many broadcasters around the world, it's very likely that the second channel (TVSH 2) is covering the bulk of the sports and highlights with TVSH aired the Opening Ceremonies and the Closing coming up on Sunday. In fact, its TV schedule is far behind by a month and never really updated. Furthermore, a correction is in order regarding Supersport Albania. I misread what the Supersport Albania promo mentioned. Its own channels does not carry any comprehensive indigenous Olympic coverage. All of the cable/satelitte Olympic in Albania comes from Eurosport. The two channels Eurosport channels covering it in question are Eurosport and Eurosport HD.

TVM Malta is showing the Olympics through TVM2, but they got nothing but live streaming on its website as far as its content. So no Olympic TV info directly from there. TVM has no Facebook page to speak of. Did had the EURO 2012 TV schedule though. I assume any broadcasting team doing it for TVM2 was, for the most part, doing it back in Valletta, and sending only a reporter or two to London.

Paraguay is definitely among the worst I seen. Paravision is doing the London Olympic along with SNT. Problem is, NEITHER HAS ANY OLYMPIC TV INFO OR PLANS AT ALL ON THEIR RESPECTIVE WEBSITES. No TV guide. No hours of Olympic programming to alert prospective viewers with. Nothing. Any reference to the London Olympics from them has been the promo that I uploaded weeks ago. What a shame.

Coverage of the French Swiss portions from RTS 2 starts daily from 9:30 am Switzerland time with 1:35 after Olympic Night. In fact, RTS has six segments all day: Olympic Matinee at 9:30am, Olympic Midday at 12pm, Olympic Afternoon at 2pm, Olympic Evening at 6pm, Olympic Journal at 10:45pm, and Olympic Night at 11:15pm. Olympic Journal repeats at 1:35am. The Italian RSI's LA 2 tends to start its Olympic coverage later by starting in the afternoon starting at 12:30pm and going on into late at night at 1:40pm

TVCG 1 only gets involved in one event for every day of the London Olympics if Montenegro is involved in a sport like water polo or handball live for a couple of hours. All the more comprehensive wall-to-wall stuff it leaves for TVCG 2, mostly from 9:30am to as far as 3am.
