Alexjc
Update pics Scotguy? This is the facility that matters in the end...as ND found out the hard way last time, the games are judged by the athletes...and the village is the main one. JMarkSnow2012
I'm not at all keen on the cubic ones. I hope they'll look better with lots of team flags and banners.
Alexjc
The stylish cube designs are only a portion of the village compound...I do think that the surrounding plantings around the water areas don't look right though. Overall the village does look neat.

JMarkSnow2012
OK, here we go. The Village is currently at the scurrying phase- lots of complete-looking buildings, but much landscaping and security fencing to be done. On the way ... Looking east down Springfield Road from near Dalmarnock Station. There are lots of marquees and temporary halls going up along the edge of The Village. The Village from Sorn Street. The Village from Irvine Street. As Springfield Road is becoming a perimeter road for The Village, the bus can no longer serve this part of Dalmarnock. Security barrier going up along Springfield Road. The Village from Bogside Street.

JMarkSnow2012
Nice, but could you pleeeease take some pictures when the sky is blue? Sorry. As the Baton Relay picture from Snowdon shows, we're going through a rather cloudy phase at the moment.

Sir Rols
No, this isn't Delhi. It's a Scottish plot: Diarrhoea and vomiting hits athletes’ village at Commonwealth Games An outbreak of diarrhoea and vomiting has hit the athletes’ village for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow a week before the action begins. The organisers Glasgow 2014 admitted it is aware of a “small number” of cases among the workforce at the site in the Dalmarnock district and was investigating. Any residents feeling unwell have been advised to stay in their rooms and seek help. A spokesman said: “We have been made aware of a small number of diarrhoea and vomiting cases being reported from workforce in the village, which we are investigating.” With competitors due to start arriving this week, an advisory message has already been sent out which states there is a possibility the virus could be “highly contagious”. “Any village resident with any signs or symptoms of diarrhoea and vomiting should stay in their rooms and contact the polyclinic for assistance by telephone or through their team management,” reads the message. “Workforce should notify their manager and avoid coming into work. If symptoms appear while on shift, workforce should contact their supervisor. Please remind your teams about adopting good practice in the use of regular hand-washing and sanitiser.” At the last Commonwealth Games in Delhi, several England and Australia swimmers were affected by a stomach bug.
