TV GLOBO: The influence in the Olympic Park

projeto-do-estudio-da-rede-globo-para-os

The glass studio in the center of Olympic Park is one of the bets of GLOBE , the studio will receive the TV GLOBO (free to air ) and SPORTV ( cable channel ) .
Globo showed his second influence the news of UOL , including the trees that circudam the building were carefully planted to not overshadow the studios .
The preference to the second floor according to UOL news is that the higher the better the Olympic Park vision and to avoid the ground floor where people could display posters or manifest.

Could only hope things regarding Thailand's TV Pool--Channel 3, Channel 5, Channel 7, Channel 9 (MCOT HD), NBT and Thai PBS--and NBTC over that 150 million bhat Olympic sponsorship, the 25 digital TV channel operators gaining Olympic access, and the NBTC getting 2.3 minutes per hour on the Thai digital TV conversion during the coverage gets situated quickly:

This new type of technology for fencing on TV ought to help viewers and analysts learn more about the sport (and raise interest) when watching it during the Summer Olympics when it comes on. NBC has got to employ this!

On ORF's radio, ORF's Audio2 will cover Rio 2016 and, from the looks of this, will join in a partnership with the neighboring German radio broadcasters from ZDF, ARD, and NRD during this with 33 of its sportscasters to be trained in various sports from archery and trampoline so the won't go blind into it:

NOS' live online Rio 2016 coverage will contain 14 live streams as its most extensive Olympic coverage ever. Will likely have its own place in the NOS app upon announcement. Video quality is supposed to be much better than it was four years ago with London 2012. Perhaps very likely going to HD. No word on any virtual reality developments or a You Tube partnership though:

Mexico City's Canal 22, one of actually the numerous public TV broadcasters across Mexico, will have its ample Olympic TV coverage mixed with documentaries on the sports, science, history, literature, and art of the Olympic Games--and it's free from America Movil. Emulating what the BBC and ORF Austria is doing. Won't interfere with Canal 22's other programming like news and special programming. It will likely only send Blessed Word host Laura Garcia to Brazil. All these programming plans took a year to prepare:

Radio Formula Group is the Mexican Olympic radio broadcasting rights holders to Rio 2016 that will of course feature the Mexican soccer team with Christian Martinoli and Luis Garcia as well as focusing on the Mexican athletes in whatever sport they're in, the swimming, soccer, and track and field finals, and both ceremonies on radio stations 104.1, where there's going to be a daily radio summary show from 8-10pm Mexico/US/Canada CST, or 103.3FM. Yet they are restricted from using their audio with visual images on the TV side by Teleformula. Except for the basing of Raul Orvañanos in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, much of the production will be back in Mexico City:

Talks are still ongoing with Singapore's broadcasting rights between Mediacorp, SingTel, and Star Hub and Asian IOC broadcasting rights holder Dentsu in terms of striking a deal. But we should get something very soon. Mediacorp and Dentsu so far agreed on a package that includes two daily highlights shows produced by Mediacorp's crew in Brazil with the only live content in this deal are the opening and closing ceremonies, a very far cry.from what the Mediacorp family did for London 2012 with Channels 5, 8, U, Okto, HD5, and Vansanthiam and two other channels with at least 21 hours of coverage daily each on Channel 5 and HD5. SingTel, which aired 3000 live hours on 13 channels of London 2012 and is exercising prudence due in part to the 11-hour time difference between Singapore and Brazil, meaning the sports action takes place between 8pm and 7am (Singapore time), which is unattractive to advertisers as viewership isn't high, and Star Hub are both interested but no agreement is reached yet. At the heart is the fee proposed by Dentsu which is supposedly a quarter of what Hong Kong's TVB paid and 30-40% lower than what Malaysia had on RTM and ASTRO:

Lietuva Rytas TV has a 10-minute news show largely focusing on the Lithuanian Olympic scene called, not shockingly, Rio 2016.

Don't know exactly how many hours Croatia's HRT 2 will show of Rio 2016, but it should be at least the required 200 hours mandated by the IOC for the Summer Olympics. Overall HRT's summer sports coverage will total over 500+ hours with EURO 2016. So I'm thinking around at least 300 hours. Plus, HRT and the Croatian Olympians Club will produce a preview TV series called Cropacabana (Croatia + Copacabana) with athletes, medal holders, those who have experienced the Olympic Games but clarify and closer all the charm of these "small" sports:

i was thinking 10am-6pm(i know you say 5pm for the ending time, but 6pm seems to me a better option)

Explain to us why you think it's a better option? There's a reason they don't go past 5 on weekdays and 6 on the weekends. Local programming is too valuable to the non-NBC owned affiliates.

Sure does makes things even murkier for Tirico as to where, in the mind of us outsiders, he'll be assigned to by NBC in Rio. We do know it's gotta be a plum job for him. But what?

Now that we've see Rebecca Lowe as a studio anchor for both NBC and NBCSN, we can perhaps kill off the lovely idea of her being with her NBC Sports Network soccer studio mates like Robbie Earle for NBC's Olympic soccer coverage. It can still happen but what time slots she'll be assigned to for her to perhaps do it remains key. Why not have them all at the outdoor studio overlooking Rio's skyline in a different area discussing soccer like ESPN did with their team when it had the World Cup two summers ago?

With certainty Nat Chan will be among the studio anchors or presenters for TVB Hong Kong's coverage of Rio 2016. But he and TVB are under criticism for him being involved with the torch relay in Fortaleza, Brazil despite no athletic record of Chan's own, despite hosting the Olympics several times already on TV. The network defends this obviously and says he's invited by the Brazilian organizers because TVB is repped for its exclusive HK coverage and by extension the Chinese special administrative area:

Would like to know who the 110 SporTV personalities involved and what sports they're assigned to along with the massive 1000-person team. There's got to be lots of broadcasting synergy with Globo's Time Ouro and SporTV's teams since they're part of the Globo Group:

Full details of the Olympic coverage of the transmission cable (SPORTV, ESPN and FOX SPORTS) must appear after July 10, when it finishes the current focus of them is the Euro'16.
The BANDEIRANTES TV and RECORD TV must follow the same path. While GLOBO TV main station already released many details, it remains only to know programming.
It is true that names like the narrator Galvao Bueno, will probably be only with major events.

(messed up in my unintentional sending of my last post; both of mine should really be together)

Starting tomorrow at the 50-day mark on Thursday and from here on out until the start of the Opening Ceremonies, ESPN Brazil will show an Olympic-themed documentary, one a day, everyday starting with the ESPN 30 For 30s 9.79* and For The Price Of Gold in the first two days. Of the 50 docs, 47 of them are Brazilian-themed. Several of them will be shown for the first time. Makes me wonder if there will be a Brazilian Portuguese version of "What if I tell you?" on their promos:

An update on Thailand with Dentsu holding firm on its stance to only allow the TV Pool channels in showing the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics and is letting the universal service obligation (USO) fund committee decide whether TV Pool will still get a 150-million-baht sponsorship to secure the Olympic broadcast rights. Meanwhile, Dentsu is helping bring awareness to encourage Thais to get into sports:

Which now begs the question.. what of Mike Tirico? I know they can't officially announce anything with him while he's still under contract to ESPN, but with Michaels and Patrick and Lowe all in the mix for NBC daytime hosting duties, not sure what that leaves for Tirico.

My guess is that Tirico will be some sort of "venue host" like Dan Patrick was in Vancouver. They'll get Tirico out to a different venue each day/night to set the scene and do some features and interviews. While they're just announcing the NBC and NBCSN hosts today, I'm sure this has been in the works for months, and some of the hosts may even have clauses in their contracts guaranteeing certain assignments for the Olympics. With Tirico joining NBC so close to the Games, it may not have been possible to work him in to hosting role on NBC, and I don't think they would relegate him to NBCSN (yes, they did have Michaels on NBCSN in Sochi, but the NBC daytime coverage was on tape and fairly minimal in 2014).

Now that Savannah Guthrie won't be making the trip to Rio, I'd like to see NBC add Tirico as the third host for the opening ceremony. Despite all of the pageantry of the ceremony, it's still a sports event, and NBC really needs a "sports person" in the booth to complement the Today Show crew, who just aren't very knowledgeable about the athletes, sports history, etc. I was watching the clip of Ali lighting the cauldron in Atlanta last week, and Costas and Enberg captured that moment almost perfectly with their commentary. There's no way that Lauer et.al. would handle something like that in the same way. Tirico is very knowledgeable about international sports and would add a lot to the ceremony broadcast.

I have to agree with you about that. What made Ali light the flame so memorable at least to me was how Costas and Enberg handled that. that was one moment where you have two of the best sportscasters at NBC(at that time anyway) handling that moment, and they did it right. i don't think the the Today Show crew would be able to do what Costas and Enberg did that night in Atlanta in 96. that was one moment where those two guys shined and for a good reason. They were the best in the business. They also had the right words for that moment. that, along with John Tesh calling the U.S. women's gymnastics team winning gold, and CBC's Don Wittman on the Canadian team's success in track, were the two most memorable calls i heard during those games. Between CBC and NBC, i was watching pretty much wall to wall Olympics that summer.

That would be a great idea for Tirico with his knowledge on the international sports scene and can ID nations and some of their notable/principal athletes beyond the American ones as they march at Maracana Stadium being "the sports guy", something NBC OC hosts lacked since Costas took himself out of the game. Not even the Today crew would know some of that despite being involved in more serious news and know the nations. Then again, like many of us Americans, they would not know much about the sports landscape outside of the USA, even including Canada and Mexico. Agree also on the NBC hosting with him entering being so close to the final planning stages. He could do the hosting with Tokyo, but that's far away.
