  2. The truth is, being an idiot has been normalized and all because 1) they know they will never face consequences when you hide behind a screen, 2) the current fascists leaders of the world make them feel emboldened.
  3. Mascots are alright, although a bit generic. You can tell they played it safe, specially these days when certain people get offended by anything.
  4. Shame. It was a very iconic design but alas, its happening to everyone these days and it can't be avoided. Camp Nou and Bernabeu weren't spared in Spain either despite their legendary status (with the later being afflicted with endless delays). I just hope the new design is not a glorified toilet seat and they do something which at least honors the "drill" stairs.
  5. this is plainly mental illness. not even the slightest attempt to connect gender to shrapnel bombs, as if that happens every day here or something. mass shootings, which do happen every day and overwhelmingly conducted by men quite secure in their gender identity, is curiously not even mentioned. you really can't engage with the mentally ill, bots, and trolls. come to think of it, you can't really engage with anyone anymore.

  7. “ Biopropane “ was an environmentally friendly gas used in the Torches of the Paris 2024 Games. Is it possible for Biopropane to be used to for both the LA2028 Cauldron and Torches? As a recent U.S. Department of Energy announcement on a renewable propane request for information stated, ”Did you know biopropane is lighting up this summer’s Paris Olympics, projected to be the most sustainable Olympics to date? Fueling the Olympic torch, renewable propane is helping to reduce the carbon footprint of the Torch Relay” Credit: Propane.com Can LA2028 use Biopropane? 9. Hi @Bear, I use skyscrapercity.com to draft a post as it readily accepts images and edits including font style/size changes, colour, tables, etc before simply copying and pasting the entire draft post including uploaded images over to gamesbids.com which readily accepts the entire post, including the uploaded image. I discovered this by accident.
  10. Yes not sure if such a gas replacenent is even being looked at behind the scenes for torches and cauldrons at LA2028? At LA Memorial Coliseum is it possible to use a friendly gas such as hydrogen in the existing gas lines up the peristyle to the Cauldron without compromising the structure? The flame at Tokyo 2020 burned differently in it’s appearance and “ignition” shape, and kind of looked a bit closer to the afterburner flame on a jet fighter. But in the end the LA Memorial Coliseum Cauldron would still look good with a hyrdogen powered gas flame. Tokyo 2020’s hydrogen powered Cauldron: NBC Olympics.com
  11. Unless the mechanism of the LA Memorial COliseum cauldron is already severely compromised, the outside cannot be altered because the peristyle end of the Coliseum is considered a National Landmark, hence--short of legislation--untouchable. Further, #1 - I don't know if there is much room inside the main plinth to allow for a change of machinery from fossil fuels to whatever is a cleaner alternative. And #2 - At most, if climate is already too hot come July 2028, then, just curtail the use of the gas. There is what is called "Performance or Ceremonial" burn (full-blast and probably about a minute or so) and then there is the "normal" burn which doesn't have to be extravagant but merely a nice flame. And #3 - Budget. Would say the overhaul of the system (piping, etc., etc.) cost, say, at least $500,000 be proportionate to the use of the cauldron? Or could they do a holographic substitute instead?? That is for more professional minds to figure out.

  13. I assume they'll launch it at the closing ceremony in Milan. At this point it wouldn't make much sense to do anything else.
  14. As you said @Cyriln over in the Paris 202 cauldron thread
  15. A tender was recently issued for a design agency in charge of developing the brand identity of the French Alps 2030 and they are recruiting the brand director. I understand the objective was to launch the new identity around Milano Cortina but the timeline seems very tight (taking into account approval / anteriority reasearch process).
  16. It's entirely unsurprising, given how Jan and his mod team over at skyscrapercity operate, that the LA28 and 2026 World Cup threads now consist of one Trump fanboy talking to himself about transgender folk and foreign athletes overstaying their visas. Nevermind the USA's collective sexual fetishisation of firearms, its daily mass shootings, or its detaining of tourists - transgender Canadians' passports are the real security threat facing the next world cup... There was a decent forum there once.
  17. As we know the iconic towering Cauldron on top of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, which was used with great effect at the Los Angeles Games of 1932 and 1984 will again be ignited at the City of Angels third Olympic Games in 2028. Whether their is a “partner Cauldron” or not (?) at Sofi Stadium and/or another Los Angeles location during the coming 2028 Opening Ceremonies, remains to be seen. In this era of diminishing sized Olympic and Paralympic Cauldrons and Flame sizes, or Cauldrons without a flame such as at Paris 2024, is it possible and cost effective to in 2028 use an environmentally friendly gas such as the hydrogen used in the Tokyo 2020 Cauldron?
  18. ONLY in LA!! OK, you heard it FIRST here! First big idea for LA28 Opening Ceremony: In 1984, they opened with 1,000 giant white and metallic balloons. Now as part of the Environmental Theme of LA28 ceremonies, there will be a production number featuring -- the little SHADE BALLS of which there are 96 million of them in the LA Reservoir!! How's dem little black shade balls, huh?? Why 96 Million Black Balls Were Released Into A Los Angeles Reservoir | Watch
  19. any idea when their branding will be released? i assume it'll be before milan?
  20. Yes I’m hoping the miniature cauldron as shown above is a transitory thing, until a “friendly” gas is settled upon for use at future Games? As beautiful and majestic as Paris 2024’s Cauldron was, surely there is an environmentally friendly gas that is also cost effective, such as the hydrogen powered cauldron as was used at Tokyo 2020? Could such a friendly gas be used at LA Memorial Coliseum?

  26. Not to derail the thread, but does anyone have any alternatives? I would hate for any images I upload to not be visible to a good chunk of the user base here.
