Aronious
Well, forgetting that Melbourne already slugged this Fantasy Games date out with Vancouver 3 years ago lets try again and see if we can get a better result. Submit your city here. Some members have already expressed their interest in bidding. They will have preference of the city if they post the name here. Otherwise, its free to anyone. Submissions will close WEDNESDAY 10th of SEPTEMBER. As per usual, any credible submissions will be accepted after this date but it is encouraged that you stick to the parameters. If excessive numbers of bids are received a short list voting process will take place on WEDNESDAY 17th SEPTEMBER. Bids will be required to submit a 2 page PDF file on whatever they chose to promote their bid. If a short list is not required the competition will continue and bidding cities will be required to submit a candidature file (Suggested <10pages, but if you're willing to do the work, go for it) and emailed to myself prior to WEDNESDAY 8th OCTOBER. The email address will be PM'd to bidders following your successful application on Wednesday 10th of September. A forum vote will take place following the submission of the bid books. No GBOC, no polls. The form of the vote will be determined based on the number of bid books received. Candidate Files should comprise at very least, the following: Logo Breif introduction to your city Venues and key Olympics sites A map of your Olympic area Concept The following members have been given preference over a given city, Doc Steel > Pittsburgh UNITED STATES kkh_94 > Vienna AUSTRIA Lord David > Helsinki FINLAND seamus21514 > Stockholm SWEDEN Scotguy21 > Kuala Lumpur > MALAYSIA Aronious > Budapest HUNGARY cormiermac > Perth AUSTRALIA However, if you would like to change your bid, please post below. If there are no other queries...? GET BIDDING PEOPLE!
seamus21514
I'm going to do a Copenhagen/Malmo joint bid, but the majority of the venues will be in Danish territory.

Lord David
So, if I understand correctly, we shall be submitting a 2 page "flyer" promoting and proposing our bid, upon which successful shortlisting will require us to do the bid book? thatsnotmypuppy
Man I am conflicted. Do I join in? Maybe a Mecca bid (since the last one was hounded down and Turkish Guy doesnt seem to troll here much anymore I could finally see that running track surrounding the kaa'ba!) or maybe a big brassy bid from those newly independent (by 2020) South Ossetians with Tskhinvali. I love a capital city that sounds like its telling you off... tsk! Perhaps itis finally time for Kinshasa to shine?

Mother russia formally recognises these inderpendant states as of yesterday. at Lord David. Possibly, we will wait until the closing of applications. If there too many applicants than a 2 page flyer is required. Otherwise its straight to the main book.

Faster
Don't even think about it. It's SACRED. I know your parks and outdoors and sacred. But its the only option. Using parks for temporary venues and 4 permanent ones is really the only option.

Faster
Heh yeah. I was thinking that you were planning to put the Olympic Stadium in Frognerparken. It would get pillaged in a matter of hours. Its one of 3 parks/green areas that I was looking at. The other is Torshovdalen and Toyenparken, which are closer to the Ekeberg area. Frognerparken, Toyenparken and Ekeberg are going to account for 24 sports. Ekeberg will be turned into the largest recreation park in Northern Europe. The draft is: Ekeberg Olympic Stadium - Ceremonies, Athletes, Football and Equestrian* National Aquatics Center - Swimming, Diving, Synchronized Swimming, Water Polo* National Arena - Basketball final and Gymnastics* National Velodrome - Track Cycling* National Rowing Center - rowing, canoe/kayak* National Slalom Center - slalom canoe/kayak* Sports Hall I - Handball Sports Hall II - Wrestling Sports Hall III - Fencing Sports Hall IV - Boxing Sports Hall V - Table Tennis Sports Hall VI - Weightlifting Triathlon Course Marathon Course National Mountain Biking Center* Frognerparken Archery Center - Archery Shooting Center - Shooting BMX Center - BMX Beach Volleyball Park - Beach Volleyball Toyenparken National Tennis Center - Tennis Road Race and Time Trial Course Sports Hall VII - Badminton Sports Hall VIII - Volleyball Son Son Sailing Center - Sailing * - permanent venues Existing venues Vallhall Stadion - Field hockey Ullevall Stadion - Football Spektrum Arena - basketball Jordal Amfri Arena - judo, taekwondo Viking Stadion - Football Lerkendal Stadion - football Holmenkollen - Equestrian I just can't think of where to put a sailing venue, my initial thought was Bergen, but am wondering if it can be in Oslo proper. I am not including Modern Pentathlon, waste of a sport.
kkh94
Down in Son (about 50 kilometers south) is where I would put it. I can help with the naming, by the way. Just means I'll be helping out two bids. Whoo

thatsnotmypuppy
As I am not sure if I can be bothered doing a bid I thought I'd stake my claim with a couple of logos. Firstly Mecca 2020 - http://img157.imageshack.us/my.php?image=mecca2020dj5.jpg And secondly Kinshasa 2020 - http://img258.imageshack.us/my.php?image=k...asa20201sz2.jpg Sadly imageshack is suddenly a "dynamic link" and I cant post the logos. A decision on whether or nor I can be f*cked proceeding will be made shortly.
