10 Sep-2025: “The Games Independent Infrastructure and Coordination Authority (GIICA) launched an expression of interest (EOI) for principal architects for the Brisbane Stadium and the National Aquatic Centre.” (architectureau.com) Too early yet to know who the principal archiects will be. I’m guessing to expect an announcement from GIICA within 6 months. This Queensland Government is not mucking around. -

The Olympic Closing Ceremony is entitled Beauty in Action. The stage design was also revealed: The Ceremony will not be confined to just the Arena, either: https://www.olympics.com/en/milano-cortina-2026/news/closing-ceremony-of-the-milano-cortina-2026-olympic-winter-games-to-be-a-tribute-to-beauty-in-action -

Yeah - if we still had the bid process Brisbane would still be less than 6 months into its time as host. Their only real crime since since winning is wasting all the extra time they got, it's now a standard 7-year countdown. Might as well have kept it how it was, you watching Kirsty -

Adidas shows off its record haul of 22 national teams jerseys bespoke yesterday for 2026 ahead of the World Cup As of today, Argentina, Mexico, Colombia, Japan, Algeria, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia have all qualified out of the Adidas-outfitted teams, although Germany, Euro champs Spain, Costa Rica, Italy, Belgium, Scotland, Wales, Ukraine, and Hungary could join them. Germany and Spain--the first two mentioned in the second group--are very likely to do so come the next round of European World Cup qualifiers next week. United Arab Emirates could get to the Mexico-based 2026 FIFA World Cup intercontinental playoffs. Doesn't look like Sweden's Blagult will make it. Northern Ireland still has a chance but has to run the table. Chile, Peru, Venezuela certainly did not but will sport them in 2026. Adidas' press release notes that Jamaica's 2026 jerseys, another team looking solid to qualify out of CONCACAF, will appear in a separate collection for the JFF's Reggae Boyz. Argentina's is sporting that defending World Cup champion patch on the typical sky blue and white jerseys. Speaking of Germany, it is channeling their 1990-1994 jerseys Der Nationalmannschaft wore and its "previous successes in this tournament, the home jersey pays homage to some of the nation’s most iconic shirts. The repeating diamond shape and chevron detailing are each inspired by the iconic graphics from previous shirts, including the 2014 World Cup winning shirt." So it's a fusion of sorts. Kinda of a good way and time to celebrate this because next year will act as the last year the Deutsche Fussball Bund and Adidas will be together: the DFB, come 2027, will move towards the Swoosh, ending a 66-year partnership it has with the German company. Some of these jerseys are indeed updating a past design like Mexico also has with their with an Aztec tonal pattern coming from the 1990s when FMF was with, I think, Athletica: https://news.adidas.com/football/adidas-reveals-largest-ever-collection-of-home-kits-ahead-of-fifa-world-cup-2026-/s/a62a06a3-ea5a-4cb7-a585-0379b40ab18f https://news.sportslogos.net/2025/11/05/adidas-releases-22-new-national-team-home-kits-ahead-of-2026-fifa-world-cup/soccer/ -

And perhaps like London they'll go for a design/build contract, so both will be appointed together. You're right, there's time. -

It's a reverse race between BOCOG and Birmingham City on whose massively hyped stadium project can be released last (Tbf now we have a location, there's no reason to panic yet. At this point in London's buildup we still thought the stadium would look like a massive airbag & be mostly demolished in 2013, with Upton Park still standing) -

So ARUP is doing some masterplan works, contractors are being sought to build it. But do we know who's actually designing the stadium and when we'll see some real (not illustrative) designs and renders? -

I can confirm, especially for the closing ceremony of the Paras where I was, where absolutely the ENTIRE stadium booed (also the case for the other 3 ceremonies but well, I only see videos of the people who were present), and where I even booed so much that I almost lost my voice in the minutes that followed. -
This will be the BEST peace prize ever. Nobody will ever have seen a prize as great as this. Much better than the FAKE POLITICAL NOBEL peace prize. Everybody will say so.

No one will beat the boos of Macron by 320,000 people, don't try to beat us on that ground. -

Correct re Rio 2016’s crowd booing the head of state at the Opening Ceremony. From BBC.com: “There were boos for interim Brazilian President Michel Temer, as he declared the Games open on Friday. Temer took over in May after his predecessor was suspended from office, amid allegations of corruption. The boos rang out despite Temer restricting his speech to a single sentence - though they were partly drowned out by music and fireworks.” -

What's Tonga wearing???? Prada or Dolce & Gabbana? 🤪 -
None have ever been sooooooo HIGHLY UNPOPULAR at the time of their appearance, that it happened. Even Hitler had the German audience w/ him in 1936 and, of course, NO ONE dared smirk at Putin's appearance in 2014. I think the Brazilian president -- not Lula, but the lady -- got some boos in Rio 2016; not certain of this.

Booooooooooooooooo !! At the 2028 Opening Ceremony, the LA Crowds at both Stadia will, on the world stage, give Trump the biggest, most embaressing Boooo that any head of state has received at any Olympic Games, even bigger and louder than the booing he copped at the US Open. Come to think of it, has a head of state ever been boo-ed while opening an Olympic Games? -

Austria with Erima. Don't know what to say. Brasil pictures are funny - no athlete there for a photoshoot? Le Cog makes a good job for team France. Adidas is also solid. Team GB Gear on their webshop sold out. Team Germany is launched on Adidas.de and TeamDeutschland Shop. Bought a few pieces. I'm excited about Team USA Nike ACG Gear. There are some initial insights like a new high tech jacket and fleece stuff, but no full release yet. Also hoping for a great release of the ice hockey jerseys. Nike continues to hold the exclusive rights and will manufacture the jerseys for all countries. - Yesterday
