yoshi
Danny, re: the British press, to understand what they're really saying, look at the draw in Group D - we're gonna play Italy, Uruguay, & Costa Rica. They're making excuses, with the best will in the world, it's difficult to see England beating Italy or Uruguay, & Costa Rica could spring a surprise. Therefore, it's rather likely that we'll be on the way out after round 1. Unfortunately, our media generally refuse to accept the idea that the England team might simply not be good enough, so they spend the months before a tournament preparing excuses for an early bath - at Euro 2012 is was crowd hostility & the distance from training camp to match venues. So it's not about insulting Brazil, we have nothing against your country - but should we drop out at the first hurdle, our media & team will be reeling out their reasons - just like every time. Tony E Loves Architecture
Danny, we get it, you don't like the press. Please stop preaching. There are delays in Brazil (The Press was incorrect on some circumstances), but stop making remarks. We get it, you don't like the press. Nice Stadiums by the way. Brasilia National Stadium and Arena Pernambuco are looking good.

There is American Football in Brazil? I didn't know that. 1. Means "Rock 'n Roll, babyyy!!!" 2. Yes, indeed, we have a national league now, the "Touchdown Tournament". We also have the "Beach American Football Tournament" in Rio that is getting more and more popular. A match played here in Santos by the local team "Santos Tsunami" The jersey of Santos Tsunami, white as the famous Soccer team. This match was against São Caetano Cougars (Those name gets funny by mixing Portuguese and English) Danny, re: the British press, to understand what they're really saying, look at the draw in Group D - we're gonna play Italy, Uruguay, & Costa Rica. England is a strong team and, IMO, must be respected every single time the join a World Cup, no matter how strong or not are the players. What I see is the biased attitude from the British press (and this is a fact, not a impression from me) have more to do with the loss to Qatar in the World Cup bid for 2022 than an excuse for some eventual fiasco of the England team in Brazil. DannyelBrazil
Russia's Bid was corrupt aswell. We had the strongest Bid. We had the infrastructure, transport network, support and existing facilities. Strongest bid not always win... This is a rule in the games bids world... What about a growing emerging market? What about a new-fresh place to host the event? If you have been here in the boards for the last 10 years or so you would know that. And indeed, I was hoping England and Australia to win... When Rio was defeated twice to host the Olympics, Brazilian press did not start a campaign against Athens or London, pretty much otherwise... Not even after that British citizen pulled over the Brazilian marathonist who was leading in the end of Athens Marathon... The only to blame was that idiot, not Great Britain or Greece security forces...
yoshi
We're not against the countries - what we're not fans of is FIFA's corruption. So yeah, we're not great mates with FIFA. I don't think we have a problem with losing to Russia (at the time, before the power got to Putin's head, I thought it was actually a laudable decision) The reason we're getting mad at FIFA is standing up for fairness & transparency, particularly in Qatar's case, as shown this week. We & our press are railing against FIFA, like many in Brazil now, not against Brazil. As for the mistakes, nowhere is immune from mistakes, they are normally just innocent errors, probably caused by bad research on the reporter's part. So in summary, there is no concerted media campaign against Brazil, just excuses for England & criticism of the FIFA organisation
DannyelBrazil
Yoshi, nobody is happy with FIFA, indeed, Brazilians as you may have seen in the protests we had lately. The thing is British press is using Brazil like "look the shithole FIFA choose to host the World Cup" The complaints against Brazil hits FIFA and vice-versa... This is so disgusting. Go direct to FIFA and its issues... There is a TV report from BBC over the "great improvement on the income unequality in Brazil", at some point "look at this, they improved but still look very poor, specially with the World Cup months away"....
