In fact, things are moving forward, but "quietly," because progress is mainly being made at the city/regional level (public inquiries, calls for tenders for construction/renovations, etc.), and at the OCOG organizational chart, which is also being developed (there are still recruitments underway for important positions, particularly in the legal departments). These are essential matters, but they obviously receive little media coverage. You can still find some information on these topics by searching the French regional press, but these remain very "technical" matters for the moment. However, we must also remain objective; there are still "delays," or at least things that are taking longer than they should, the main reason being the political situation in the country (and it's not going to get any better). I'll take a concrete example: the law on the 2030 Olympic Games, essential for a lot of reasons (to simplify: for example, to have "accelerated" procedures on everything that is a public inquiry, etc.) is still waiting to be put on the agenda of the National Assembly, except that currently we still don't have a government, and since it is the government that sets the agenda for Parliament (for half)... well, we lose precious weeks on this kind of important text. And I'm not even talking about the 2026 budget, which looks set to be just as complicated as the 2025 budget.

The Next IOC President
sebastien1214 replied to AustralianFan's topic in General Olympics Discussion
What the hell is the point of bringing up a message I posted 7 months ago? Do you really have nothing to do with your days? I don't even know why you suddenly thought of me on this specific subject, Coventry has just been elected pope or just won a Nobel Prize?- 473 replies

The Next IOC President
AustralianFan replied to AustralianFan's topic in General Olympics Discussion
Sounds like you didn’t back the winner? If not, why such an uncalled for negative, sour grapes post about the historic election of the IOC’s first female President and Olympic Champion, Kirsty Coventry, the topic of this thread.- 473 replies

Milan Cortina 2026 Ceremonies
Rei replied to BigVic's topic in Milan Cortina 2026 Ceremonies Discussions
There have been tons of speculations about the shape of new San siro in the last decade. Including cathedrals, rings and garden roofs. And these last renderings don't show anything relevant. Besides, the historical protective restriction will become effective next november and the sale is not completed so.. we will see 😉 -
It seems there is still very little preparation for French Alps 2030 despite it only being just over four years until the Games.

LA 2028 Ceremonies
baron-pierreIV replied to baron-pierreIV's topic in Los Angeles 2028 Ceremonies Discussions
Here might be another LA28 Ceremonies talent (even though they are a Brazilian group) -- but they certainly show a lot of promise. Altho I don't know how this would translate into 3-D stadium dimensions. -

Oval? Fixed roof?! You mean it'll be a copy of the stadium in Vegas? You'd have thought they'd keep some of the character of San Siro, like with the stands at Camp Nou & the Bernabeu -
Milan Cortina 2026 Ceremonies
Ikarus360 replied to BigVic's topic in Milan Cortina 2026 Ceremonies Discussions
Unfortunately, it has been confirmed San Siro will be demolished after the Winter Olympics, so the Openin will be the swan song of the old legendary footy arena. https://www.gazzetta.it/Calcio/Serie-A/Milan/30-09-2025/come-sara-il-nuovo-stadio-di-inter-e-milan-a-san-siro-le-prime-informazioni.shtml https://football-italia.net/new-san-siro-details-oval-shape-fixed-roof/ Of course they couldn't help themselves and go with the millionth cookie-cut oval shaped roof for the new design. 🙃 -
Brisbane 2032 Venues/Stadiums Thread
AustralianFan replied to Victorian's topic in Brisbane 2032 Summer Games
Excellent news @Victorian, hope you have an amazing time at the Worlds in Penrith. Certainly better weather now than Sydney’s July/August winter weather. I agree too, better to have their own Canoe Slalom Course in Brisbane’s milder July/ August weather at the 2032 Games. -
The truth is, being an idiot has been normalized and all because 1) they know they will never face consequences when you hide behind a screen, 2) the current fascists leaders of the world make them feel emboldened.

Mascots are alright, although a bit generic. You can tell they played it safe, specially these days when certain people get offended by anything.

UEFA Euro 2032 - Italy and Turkey
Ikarus360 replied to SportLightning's topic in Other International Games / Bids
Shame. It was a very iconic design but alas, its happening to everyone these days and it can't be avoided. Camp Nou and Bernabeu weren't spared in Spain either despite their legendary status (with the later being afflicted with endless delays). I just hope the new design is not a glorified toilet seat and they do something which at least honors the "drill" stairs. -
this is plainly mental illness. not even the slightest attempt to connect gender to shrapnel bombs, as if that happens every day here or something. mass shootings, which do happen every day and overwhelmingly conducted by men quite secure in their gender identity, is curiously not even mentioned. you really can't engage with the mentally ill, bots, and trolls. come to think of it, you can't really engage with anyone anymore.

“ Biopropane “ was an environmentally friendly gas used in the Torches of the Paris 2024 Games. Is it possible for Biopropane to be used to for both the LA2028 Cauldron and Torches? As a recent U.S. Department of Energy announcement on a renewable propane request for information stated, ”Did you know biopropane is lighting up this summer’s Paris Olympics, projected to be the most sustainable Olympics to date? Fueling the Olympic torch, renewable propane is helping to reduce the carbon footprint of the Torch Relay” Credit: Propane.com Can LA2028 use Biopropane? Hi @Bear, I use skyscrapercity.com to draft a post as it readily accepts images and edits including font style/size changes, colour, tables, etc before simply copying and pasting the entire draft post including uploaded images over to gamesbids.com which readily accepts the entire post, including the uploaded image. I discovered this by accident.

Yes not sure if such a gas replacenent is even being looked at behind the scenes for torches and cauldrons at LA2028? At LA Memorial Coliseum is it possible to use a friendly gas such as hydrogen in the existing gas lines up the peristyle to the Cauldron without compromising the structure? The flame at Tokyo 2020 burned differently in it’s appearance and “ignition” shape, and kind of looked a bit closer to the afterburner flame on a jet fighter. But in the end the LA Memorial Coliseum Cauldron would still look good with a hyrdogen powered gas flame. Tokyo 2020’s hydrogen powered Cauldron: NBC Olympics.com

Unless the mechanism of the LA Memorial COliseum cauldron is already severely compromised, the outside cannot be altered because the peristyle end of the Coliseum is considered a National Landmark, hence--short of legislation--untouchable. Further, #1 - I don't know if there is much room inside the main plinth to allow for a change of machinery from fossil fuels to whatever is a cleaner alternative. And #2 - At most, if climate is already too hot come July 2028, then, just curtail the use of the gas. There is what is called "Performance or Ceremonial" burn (full-blast and probably about a minute or so) and then there is the "normal" burn which doesn't have to be extravagant but merely a nice flame. And #3 - Budget. Would say the overhaul of the system (piping, etc., etc.) cost, say, at least $500,000 be proportionate to the use of the cauldron? Or could they do a holographic substitute instead?? That is for more professional minds to figure out.

Not a bad way to go out -
I assume they'll launch it at the closing ceremony in Milan. At this point it wouldn't make much sense to do anything else.
