baron-pierreIV
I don't like it, because Obama just realized Chicago's bid last week and now he is THE olympian... But... Danny, what are you talking about? He was in Chicago when they Officially made the Shortlist and the bid documents were sent off to Lausanne. The guy has a commitment to ANOTHER job. There are underlings to run the bid end of things. All that's required of a BUSY leader is to show up when he's needed. that's all. He established a special Olympic/Paralympic office in the White House MONTHS AGO!! What r u talking about, guy??

Denis-The-Dentist
What what what??? Where is our confidence, Brazilian fellas? Guys!!! What`s that about??? Obama might go there, but he is not GOD!!! What is it? We still don`t know who will win and won`t know up until the last minute, but it doens`t mean that Obama showing up will make people`s minds in favour of Chicago! Lot`s of things can be perceived from his late decision to go there, including good and bad ones. A certain IOC member may be ``Obamanized`` but some others will just think `what the heck? what is bitch doing here? He said he wouldnt come, then he said maybe, then he sent us a video saying Michelle was going to represent him and now he is coming again? What are us, left-overs??`` Chicago and Rio are favourites and they bth have chace of winning, and lets not forget there are two other GREATS Madrid and Tokyo that can surprise us, so up to the last minute let`s not lose our hopes of a Rio 2016! stir.ts
For Rio, there is a bright side when looking at hosting the 2014 Wolrd Cup. There is no such thing as a bright side for them in seeing Obama in front of the IOC on Friday. If Rio looses, it'll be more about Obama's presence I'm sure. His decision to show up has gone a long way in swinging the momentum to Chicago, Brazil 2014 has had very, very little to do with it. Honestly...Obama is on overkill, has been for a while, his presence can repel as well as attract. One of the biggest complaints about USA is everything is overdone, too big, too rich etc etc etc......too much Obama could only increase that feeling. This only happens once every 4 years. it worked the last 2 rounds for the UK and Russia. Why should it NOT be tried once more? You'd NEVER FORGIVE yourself if you didn't throw everything in it when you had the chance. You would actually be stupid to play it weak...when the others are ALSO bringing in their big guns. Why feel guilty? I don't.

NY20??
Honestly...Obama is on overkill, has been for a while, his presence can repel as well as attract. One of the biggest complaints about USA is everything is overdone, too big, too rich etc etc etc......too much Obama could only increase that feeling. That was an argument made last year during the presidential election. Too much press, too much Obama wouldn't translate to votes. But it did! And Michelle said today that she's treating this week as she treated the last week of last year's presidential campaign. "Take no prisoners" she said. That's scary coming from the people behind the most effective political campaign in recent history. I'm not courting out Rio, but I do think Chicago has become the favorite - whatever that means. RIOMAN
Ok, end of this discussion. American capitalism... Errr in world economy we must not to be based in nationality criteria. An exemple the beers that the american middle class man drink is a trade mark of a belgian-brazilian corporation. The orange juice almost american take in the breakfast make more richer some brazilians families in São Paulo state. Almost all meat in the american barbecue in the weekend make some brazilian corporation more stronger. Embraer sends avion to regional companies in USA. Do u need more examples? RIOMAN
Well let's think about Obama Factor. First: Rio is still a stronger contender. Coz it's on rising since weeks ago. And this process is not over. ATR's final ranking... Second: Chicago did rise in the last week. But It will be enough? Third. I can't believe in a mass votation for Chicago just because Obama will land in Denmark with his black glasses and say: "HI europeans!!" Oh please don't be stupid. There are a lot of things in the game. The olympic moviment needs to spread the wings. Chooose Chicago is a very very very controversal choice. Coz USA's economy is not working well. The american government get great problems to solve. The Obama's popularity is falling down inside USA. What about Guantanamo? It is still there. What about americans troops in Iraq? The soldiers keep shooting there. The american health system is a mess ( the brazilian one is not perfect too must I say But a good model) Obama get a big trouble in his hand. One year after the election we just see the promises fading away and the reality knocking on the doors of the White House and in the door of every american citizen who voted for Obama/Biden last year. Better than Mccain/ McCain must i say. So what Chicago can offer to the olympic moviment? Just money...or not we must not forget the crisis. No great legacy for the youth there. No new frontier. No social feedback. Rio is the new blood to the IOC's old veins. Lula has work so hard for Rio since the city was just a Pam Am's city host. He gave his best in the race. Bush didn't make much for NYC in 2005. Obama has done almost the same for Chicago. And just because he is a president-celebrity a lot of members here think that his smile and his "cool black glasses" can make the games back to USA. Please, let's grow up. The IOC's members have reading around the internet in the site who this race have come till today. They know what is the wisest choice for the credibility and vitality of the olympic moviment around the WORLD. The USA is not the center of the world anymore. If you look around you will see some new superpower rising. China got the games in 2008. Russia get the games to Sochi in 2014. It's Brazil time. The IOC has much more to win gaving the games to Rio than give it to Obama's smile. Go to the top of the pageReport Post +
