I am thinking about bringing a camcorder to take in the sights and sounds of the Games.. Question is will security confiscate the camcorder at ticket entrance. I do not intend to tape the hockey or curling events, but I do not want to go back and forth to take in the action. Only event that I am thinking of taking camcorder into is for victory celebration at BC Place. Anyone who can assist me, it would be greatly appreciated. thank you

Should be no prpoblem with that - they don't stop people bringing in cameras or camcorders. For security reasons, you might be asked to demonstrate it's a working camcorder as you go in (that's what's happened to me bringing in photographic gear to Olympic events in the past), but that'sabout all.

I was in Salt Lake and brought my camcorder to several venues without a problem. As long as it's for personal use and not for professional use, you'll be able to bring it in.

In Beijing, I had no problem entering with all my camera equipment (lot of very big lenses).

Only twice, they asked me to take a shot to demonstrate that my camera is really a camera.

(same thing hapens ounce to me at the 96 Atlanta Games)

Thank you all for your help. I may take my camcorder into the other events then. Was hoping to get a shot of Canada when I go to curling , but found out the curling draw (Emailed the WCF) and Canada is in a bye :( Oh well, great curling anyways

I'd love to see that curling draw (I haven't seen it posted ANYWHERE!) Could you either post it here or PM it over?

Sent it as a PM. THE WCF have not shown it to anyone else. I sent them an e-mail asking to view it and they courteously replied

Thanks, I received it. If anyone else would like a copy, I'd be willing to pay it forward via PM (or just post it if someone with a little authority says its ok)

They also asked me in Beijing several times to show it is a real camera.

The only thing that can happen is that VANOC asks you if they also can use the images in case it's very nice. All you can see during the Olympics in the venues is the right of the IOC. That's also why you can use it personal only, not professional.

Well, seeing as you the WCF gave the info to VANOC and anyone getting/purchasing tickets can view the teams I think there shouldn't be any problem in revealing the draws

Looks like tickets will cease being sold on Friday so VANOC can do the seat distribution plan
