Regional Unity is Not New The proposal seeks to unite the region under a single, globally known name ahead of the Olympics, with the aim of creating a more cohesive identity for the influx of international attention. SEQ (South East Queensland) is home to 3.8 million people across 12 major local government areas: Ipswich Logan Somerset Scenic Rim Moreton Bay Redland Noosa Toowoomba Lockyer Valley Gold Coast Sunshine Coast Brisbane Sunshine Coast Mayor Rosanna Natoli backs a unified approach "In 2032, Games spectators won't be concerned about which local government area they're in.“ ”When they are moving from one event to another, they will expect a seamless and world-class experience, supported by integrated connectivity.“ ”We must continue to be unified in our commitment to making it easy to move people across the region, before, during and long after the Games in 2032." Brisbane 2032 Organising Committee President, Andrew Liveris is already referring to the broader region as the 'Brisbane City Region', arguing it's a necessary step to capitalise on the coming opportunity. “Global and national accolades continue to roll in and our focus must be to support and seize our collective success, together” “The region must work to build global awareness now before the Games arrive” "Are we known out there in the world? Not really. We are going to have to overcome that but we have time and we have a plan." "When we promote one another, we win as one." ”Now is the time to define a clear, compelling message "We want to deliver a compelling brand that reminds the world why they should come to Brisbane, stay and do business in Australia, and enjoy the Olympic and Paralympic Games along the way” Brisbane Lord Mayor Adrian Schrinner “The rebrand is about deepening collaboration between councils, which will be critical for a successful Games. "Enhancing collaboration between local government areas would make the co-operation even closer and even better." Demographer Bernard Salt has long advocated for SEQ cities to adopt a shared identity for the greater good, particularly as the population continues to surge. “The idea of regional unity is not new” “By 2032, SEQ is projected to reach 4.86 million residents, nearly 800,000 more than Greater Sydney had during the Sydney 2000 Olympics.” Credit: Inside The Games

Brisbane 2032 Venues/Stadiums Thread

The news report said post-2032, am I missing something? -
Well, as a Pixel user, I hope there might be some neat tie-ins. Silly one, but I quite enjoyed the Paris 24 mascots popping up everytime I paid for something last summer. I wonder how much leeway they have with YouTube given all the broadcast agreements? As for AI, meh. We'll see. Some of the stuff Amazon's AI puts on the screen during Formula 1 is good (sometimes it isn't), but in other ways it takes away from the excitement having AI graphics predict what'll happen and when. Don't go overboard would be my advice.

Eh. Am unimpressed with the Google sponsorship. It's something that happens behind the scenes. You can't see it. Big deal. -
Big sponsorship update with Google now becoming a Founding Partner: https://la28.org/en/newsroom/google-teaming-up-with-team-usa-and-la28-as-founding-partner-to-enhance-fan-experience.html Additionally: Delivering the latest AI advancements, Google is surfacing new ways to search for information during NBCUniversal’s coverage and helping LA28 Games organizers as they prepare for our first Olympic and Paralympic Games in the U.S. in 26 years. NBCUniversal will also partner with YouTube to provide fans with select content around the Games, serving as an extension of NBCUniversal’s coverage of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Would the IOC perhaps tread carefully with Ahmedabad and wait and see if/how a Commonwealth Games holds up first - through their planning, preparation and execution. Then if all goes well, an easy decision on a future Olympic Games after that perhaps.

This is great news that we’re edging closer to the selection of a private developer and operator of this new 17,000 arena. I wonder who the other private developers are who are interested in building what will now be known as ‘The Gabba Arena’? - Last week

Kamala Might Run for CA Gov.
baron-pierreIV replied to baron-pierreIV's topic in Los Angeles 2028 Summer Games
I'll still vote for her -- becuz there is NO BETTER alternative now-- besides, it's 13 months since Nov '26. This might make room for Villaragosa (former mayor of LA) and/or Senator Padilla (who fulfilled Harris's unfinished term) -- and then we would have new Democratic names out there!! -
