  1. french alps I read this one carefully and I must say I don't find it really serious. the venue masterplan plan is not the right one. Val d'Isère and Isola 2000 are missing. Figure skating / short track are located in "palais des expositions Acropolis" which is currently being destroyed! (and will be replaced by a garden). I'm still wondering where it will finally be... there is no study on snow cover in 2030. (many people are wondering about this, legitimately)
  2. Finally, it seems Isola2000 and Val d'Isère are still in the bid I don't think this feasibility-assessment file is really up to date https://www.bfmtv.com/cote-d-azur/replay-emissions/bonsoir-cote-d-azur/c-est-quelque-chose-d-incroyable-isola-2000-devrait-accueillir-des-epreuves-des-jo-2030_VN-202311300684.html “It’s something incredible”: Isola 2000 should host 2030 Olympic events https://www.francetvinfo.fr/sports/sports-d-hiver/ski-alpin/jo-d-hiver-2030-en-france-c-est-une-reconnaissance-pour-val-d-isere-et-les-alpes-francaises_6215094.html 2030 Winter Olympics in France: “It’s recognition” for Val d’Isère and the French Alps
  3. A new Venue Masterplan can be seen in this file: Isola 2000 (initially planned for Ski/Snowboard cross and quite far from Nice) has been removed Val d'Isère (initially planned for Slalom apine skiing and quite far from Méribel/Courchevel) has been removed

  5. Looking at this file, I'm really surprised by the the ice venues in Nice page 24. The first one, Acropolis, is being destroyed! https://nicepresse.com/photos-nice-fin-2023-ou-en-sommes-nous-de-la-demolition-dacropolis/ And what are they going to do with 2 new ice rinks ?
  6. Sorry , I just wanted to show how an indoor stadium was turned into a swimming pool, trying to imagine how it might be for an indoor stadium turned into an ice rink. I guess it could be quite the same, a skating rink for competition on one half of the field, a stand in the middle and another ice rink for warming up on the other half of the field. Starting from a 32,000 seats stadium , it is obtained a 17000 seats swimming pool. So it can be imagine that, starting from the 50,000 seats Friens Arena, it would be obtained an ice rink with about 25000 seats.
  7. exactly, but it's quite smart to take advantage of all these projects that were started before and to seize the opportunity to host the Olympic Games. The only project that must be considered with regard to the Olympics is the new ice rink, precisely because it had not been planned before. The famous 5% to build! In the same way, the mayor of Nice was smart enough to add a snow venue (ski/snowboard cross) in the Nice hub by taking advantage of the developments decided last year for Isola 2000 ski resort . https://www.lefigaro.fr/nice/hotels-quatre-etoiles-nouvelle-residence-pres-de-nice-isola-2000-fait-sa-mue-en-vue-des-jo-d-hiver-2030-20231109
  8. I confirm there will be 2 pools "We are going to install two temporary swimming pools of 50 meters by 25, one for the competition and the other for the warm-up, which will be placed on the field"
  9. This is a 32000 seats rugby indoor stadium (Paris La Defense Arena) And the way in which swimming is planned in Paris 2024 (17,000 seats). Nothing else in this stadium (maybe another pool for training)
  10. And the 15000 seats Avicii Arena + 8000 seats Hovet arena for hockey in Stockholm ! That's very strong for ice venues, isn't it?
  11. it’s a huge indoor stadium! So it would be an ice rink for short track/figure skating on half the field? This is a 50,000 seats stadium, so that would be at least 30,000 seats for the ice rink?
  12. It seems that the bid is mainly based on several projects initiated by the mayor in recent years within the 'Eco Valley' to the west of Nice. A new Multimodal Exchange Hub planed for 2028 https://www.nicecotedazur.org/projets/pole-dechanges-multimodal/ "The Multimodal Exchange Hub will offer complete intermodality, enabling tram-airport connections (direct access to the airport), tram-bus (urban and intercity buses), tram-train (TGV and regional trains), tram-car (700-space park-and-ride and car-sharing stations), tram-bike (Vélo Bleu bicycles)" An extension of the airport planned for 2026 https://www.lefigaro.fr/nice/aeroport-de-nice-nous-devons-avoir-un-accueil-a-la-hauteur-de-la-cote-d-azur-20230518 "We anticipate 18 million passengers in the coming years. Whether it's in 2030 or 2035, we will be prepared thanks to this extension" A new convention center in the Eco Valley planned for 2028 https://nicepresse.com/nice-du-retard-pour-le-futur-palais-des-congres-de-la-plaine-du-var-pas-pour-celui-du-port/ "The ambition is to compete with European rivals, offering an ultra-modern Business and Innovation Center at the heart of the eco-business valley for companies and startups, near the international airport and the multimodal hub (new SNCF station, tramway...)" Would this be suitable for hockey ice rinks? Several real estate projects https://france3-regions.francetvinfo.fr/provence-alpes-cote-d-azur/alpes-maritimes/nice/et-si-la-ville-du-futur-etait-en-train-de-sortir-de-terre-a-nice-2736278.html "The neighborhood is also connected to its environment. The center of Nice and its train station can be reached in 15 minutes. With Nice Côte d’Azur airport, the rest of the planet is accessible in 10 minutes!" One of these real estate projects could be suitable for an olympic village! A new green corridor planned for 2030 https://nicepresse.com/nice-une-seconde-coulee-verte-de-20-hectares-amenagee-dans-quelques-annees/ "In its effort to turn the area into a "green lung" within the city, the Metropolis aims to offer various landscaped settings in the heart of a highly urbanized area in recent decades. To the south, plans are underway to create sports and recreational facilities. The goal: to transform it into a miniature "Central Park" of the French Riviera (the original area comprises 340 hectares)" This could be suitable for a kind of olympic parc! And also this project in the city center: A new convention center on the harbor planned for 2025 https://www.francebleu.fr/infos/societe/un-palais-des-congres-va-etre-construit-sur-le-port-de-nice-pour-remplacer-l-acropolis-7009603 "10,000 m2 of premises will be built by June 2025, for the Ocean Summit, the United Nations conference on the oceans. But there is no question that this will only be used for this international event" It's been announced as the media center for potential Olympic Games! Here is an implementation on the map
  13. https://www.bfmtv.com/cote-d-azur/replay-emissions/azur-politiques/jo-2030-la-cote-d-azur-est-elle-prete_VN-202311090987.html It is said (french) here that it would be a 12 000 seats ice rink : 6 000 permanent & 6 000 temporary from here https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Championnat_de_France_de_hockey_sur_glace from here https://liguemagnus.com/statistiques-collectives/
  14. I don't think so for Grenoble but I agree for Lyon which is the only city near the Alps to have a big arena (proposed for the 2028 Hockey world championships) https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/LDLC_Arena https://www.lequipe.fr/Hockey-sur-glace/Actualites/La-france-candidate-a-l-organisation-du-mondial-2028-de-hockey-sur-glace/1418047 It can be noticed the difference with Switzerland which has a real Hockey culture and 4 real ice rinks in its bid: https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Swiss_Life_Arena https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaudoise_aréna https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/BCF-Arena https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bossard_Arena
  15. It might be in this future exhibition center https://nicepresse.com/nice-du-retard-pour-le-futur-palais-des-congres-de-la-plaine-du-var-pas-pour-celui-du-port/
  16. Can Nice do it with 2 ice rinks only? Palais Nikaia a new ice rink to be built Cortina 2026 has 3 ice rinks (2 big ones in Milano and a small one for curling in Cortina).
