Guardian Posted August 5, 2005 Report Posted August 5, 2005 Welcome to these forums, YernarY. I'm sure Almaty can hold one, but how did you know about this site? Just curious that's all.
YernarY Posted August 8, 2005 Report Posted August 8, 2005 Is a little complicated, but I will try explain. I live here in house in Almaty. I am live with my family, our dog called Marat and cat called Safin. You see my sister like the tennis. I think tennis is not fun, and is too hard to run around just to hit a ball and you can not even hit hard like you want to because it fly too far away. Then you go chase it and the other person get mad at you and when you find it is dirty. I hate when people mad at me. I remember when I was 6 years old and went to go visit grandma in Moscow. We were in her car. I fell out my grandma car and I was sleep in the street. It was daytime. I think the door was unlock so I fell out in the middle of the street. I was still sleep. I did not feel anything so I wake up. I see myself in the street. I hear my grandma scream so I run into thecar. I was a little hurt and we went home. I do not know why I type that. So about this website. We have Norway exchange student with us, who is studies at University here in Almaty. She study the subsistence farming I think is called. She is interest in Almaty and Kazakhstan and she excited about the Olympic Games Competitions. She want to know what people thinks about Almaty's bid. Her family in Norway say that they hope too that it is here in Almaty. They say about our speed skating site is good. She say also that she looks online to find about what people think and she find here. But she tell me that people here say bad things about Kazakhstan. So I come to look for see what was happen. I hope it makes sense.
BallHatGuy Posted August 9, 2005 Report Posted August 9, 2005 While looking for pictures, I ran across this website on vitourist.com: Almaty, Kazakhstan And I must say I was pleasantly surprised. While I don't know if it can host for the WOG in 2012 (we shall see), it looks like an interesting city that I would think in time, given the proper financial and political backing, make a unique Central Asian host once venues, etc. were in place. Someone posted that the "new frontiers" may not apply to the Winter Olympics but I think the WOG makes sense in terms of cost and scale for cities like Almaty; or Christchurch, NZ; Santiago, Chile; or Bariloche, Argentina . . . provided all the pieces (cost, backing, venues, etc.) fall in to place. Be that in 2014 or beyond.
rolilau Posted August 18, 2005 Report Posted August 18, 2005 Yesterday I saw an interesting report about Kazachstan, but it showed more the poor parts of the country, and also the dangerous relicts of the Soviet-times. It showed the area, where the Aral tenizi (Lake Aral) was years ago, and where are now ships, shells and chemical substances in a desert. BUt the documentation also spoke about the oil-reserves in Kazachstan, and that Kazachstan could become the tenth-richest country of the world! I could also see that the Kazachs are very friendly people. But unfortunately this report showed more the bad sites of the country. But I´m sure, our Kazach-members will show us the beautiful sites of the central-Asian country, as began!

However, if you want shock, here's one. Its HQ is not even in the country. Do you want to know where it is really located?

Guardian Posted August 20, 2005 Report Posted August 20, 2005 Pyeongchang, LOL Let me guess...Calgary, Canada? Believe it or not, you're RIGHT!
Guardian Posted August 20, 2005 Report Posted August 20, 2005 If you don't believe me, come to this website and look at the bottom for the address: Petro Kazakhstan
Mekky Posted August 23, 2005 Report Posted August 23, 2005 Petro-Kazakhstan is now chinese. And i still think a lot of others companies (maybe not big ones, but small and medium) will be chineses next years... China has not enough ressources with its growth and its population.

And i still think a lot of others companies (maybe not big ones, but small and medium) will be chineses next years... China has not enough ressources with its growth and its population. Yep. When it was announced as such, it made quite a stir in world business circles. Given on what the demand for oil and its products are like right now, I'm not surprised that China wants a part of the action in Kazakhstan. The difference is that those guys over there better not offend China, when it comes in supplying it with Kazakh oil. $4.1 billion US is no small change in this regard.
