Mr Tickle Posted April 15, 2012 Report Posted April 15, 2012 Is that the BMW pavillion bottom left in the first pic on the river?
Rob2012 Posted April 15, 2012 Report Posted April 15, 2012 You could be right. Original size (big) for each photo. I won't post directly because of the file size: http://www.flickr.com/photos/nikonknowhow/6933789000/sizes/o/in/photostream/
Lee Posted April 15, 2012 Report Posted April 15, 2012 It definitely is. It's in exactly the spot that they said it would be. Starting to all come together quickly now. Also noticing the effects of spring on the park.
Mr Tickle Posted April 15, 2012 Report Posted April 15, 2012 Theres so many buildings popping up. Ive been trying to work out the BBC studio. Apparently its near the copperbox, near the coke pavillion I think. Is the hanging gardens over the bridge at the entrance definately not happening?
Lee Posted April 15, 2012 Report Posted April 15, 2012 Hadn't even heard about that one. I have been studying the pictures and wondering what the blue line is that runs down the side of the basketball arena. I am sure that is a stupid question but cant think at present. I do know this area is to be used by the American media and was wondering if those white building are anything to do with that.
Rob2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Report Posted April 23, 2012 Foxes attack shooting venue during test event Foxes have damaged equipment during an Olympic shooting test event ahead of this summer's London Games. The animals have chewed cables, wrecked microphones and soiled the podium area at the event, being held around the Royal Artillery Barracks in Woolwich. "The place is inundated with them up here, I'm sure there's more than one," said organiser Peter Underhill. Sydney 2000 Olympic champion Richard Faulds is among those who have spotted the foxes at work during the test event. "We were dropping our guns off in the armoury when I caught something out of the corner of my eye. Ian, our coach, saw it full-on and he swears it was a fox," Faulds told BBC Sport. "Rumour has it there was a little present left by the fox found in the indoor rifle range. It adds a bit of fun to the event. Most of the shooters are very fond of them." Underhill, in charge of the shooting competition for Olympic organisers Locog, said: "They lived here before we created the venue so, at night, they're getting into some of our enclosures, going around and chewing things. "They've chewed through some of our fibre optics and they've destroyed some of our microphones as well. We're taking natural precautions to cover up our equipment, to make sure the foxes don't have them all away and don't damage them all. "We have to live with the foxes. We have guards here at night that go around and, if need be, shoo them away." Asked if some of the athletes may resort to more familiar means to rid the venue of the local wildlife, Underhill said: "We are athletes first, so we're not after shooting animals. That's not what we're here to do, we shoot targets. In fact, most of the shooters have taken them to heart." http://www.bbc.co.uk...ympics/17807893
Rob2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Report Posted July 3, 2012 Some new aerial shots over London; Greenwich Equestrian Arena, the new beach volleyball stadium near Whitehall, and the Olympic Park. Enjoy! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-18672165
FDLondon Posted July 3, 2012 Report Posted July 3, 2012 I see he didn't release any more over the Stadium from this flight; or the BBC aren't putting them up! There still looks like a lot to do at Horseguards' Parade! That is going to be a fun venue with the Eye and possibly the Houses of Parliament visible from the top of the stands.
Lee Posted July 20, 2012 Report Posted July 20, 2012 First shot I have seen of the inside of Excel, now it's been kitted out.
NY20?? Posted July 20, 2012 Report Posted July 20, 2012 That looks good. But I thought it was a Table Tennis federation rule to have the floor a dark red and the surrounding fences a dark blue? If you Google table tennis at previous Games, you'll see their Looks' color palette was changed to be in line with that regulation.
kevzz Posted July 20, 2012 Report Posted July 20, 2012 First shot I have seen of the inside of Excel, now it's been kitted out. Out of curiosity, is it difficult to see the actual playing of table tennis in an arena (small ball, small table and rapid movement). It's already not easy to follow it on TV. Do spectators actually look at the big screen most of the time? Sorry for the ignorant but if nobody mentioned this game, I almost forget that this is one of the Olympic sports.
bomberguy Posted July 21, 2012 Report Posted July 21, 2012 The Beijing Table Tennis venue was intimate and it felt like you were right on top of the action, even from the top stand. With the London venue it seems as if you are quite far away from the actual play. But you will still be able to see the ball and the rallies to answer your question.
SwissO Posted July 21, 2012 Report Posted July 21, 2012 First shot I have seen of the inside of Excel, now it's been kitted out. Great... this will be the first venue I will attend for an event

jase_in_london Posted July 21, 2012 Report Posted July 21, 2012 First shot I have seen of the inside of Excel, now it's been kitted out. Blimey... I didn't spot it first time... the Olympic rings on the base of the table!! I just checked the Beijing tables on Google and they had a different design. Nice touch!
deawebo Posted July 22, 2012 Report Posted July 22, 2012 A friend of mine, competing in London (Kevin Avila) will be sending me pictures of the Acuatics Center, so I can keep you updated
markun Posted July 23, 2012 Report Posted July 23, 2012 What to expect entering the Olympic Park http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-18950524
dhiren.doshi Posted July 23, 2012 Report Posted July 23, 2012 Wow that looks quite exotic! Hard to belive it's in east London! Hope the weather lasts.
Rob2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Report Posted July 23, 2012 It's funny seeing pictures of the stadium without the wrap now.
dhiren.doshi Posted July 23, 2012 Report Posted July 23, 2012 You know, i hadn't even noticed! But you're right that must've been taken a while ago, I just saw a segment on BBC News about the park and that also had no wrap on the stadium. I know it's been delayed for logistical (getting oc props in) and financial reasons but it's a shame as i think it looks so much better with the wrap.
