Sport-Concert Complex named after Heydar Aliyev was opened in 1990 and since that time nearby over 30 international competitions by various sport disciplines were held in it. Several World and European championships as well as different international tournaments in rhytmic gymnastics, wrestling, boxing, voleyball, handball, took place in Baku in this complex. Being the largest sports object in the country, it has all necessary conditions for helding big international competitions. There are training halls, additional rooms, and also conference halls in a complex which contain 7000 spectator places.

An indoor arena in Azerbaijan. It has only 7000 spectator places. Baku needs to build an arena with twice as many spectator places if it wants to host a summer Olympics.

Have you seen the bid book? There are plans to do such things, should Baku win. :P

Well done Baku, you have what every other medium sized city on earth has....so what else do you have? surely there is more? isnt there? ISNT THERE?!

They got only hockey field in Azerbaijan right next to Hotel Excelsiors. They plan to use and upgraded version of this field for field hockey events. :P

oooooooo Tys Baron! I almost forgot! The olympic movement was tarnished in the first two years of the new millennium by the SLC scandal.........remember? isn't the olympic games about the very best of human qualities? it isn't about cheating, or lying...... c'mon.

I know................... let's do a statistics table involving only the nations of the four bidding 2016 cities. This statistics table will list all of the drug cheats to be caught in each country since 1972! Isn't that a fantastic idea?
