By the way, the Taekwondo draw is out for Canada and its generaly good news. Ivett Gonda has to face a Chinese competitor in the quarters (assuming they both win there first match), but Sebastien Michaud's and Karine Sergerie's biggest competitors (Steven Lopez and Hwang Kyung-Seon, respectively) are on the opposite side of there draws.

Well, its already over for Ivett Gonda. I won't pretend to know all that much about Taekwondo, but from what I saw the judging seemed a little bit suspect.

Oh well, it was a Swedish competitor that won. At least one board member here (which I won't name) will be happy

According to the Canadian coach, he believed that Gonda scored between seven and eight points. She was awarded none...

Well, Philan, Sweden has now been on both end of crappy judging at those Olympics ^^ (Contrarily to Canada... The Judo judging was already a little weird, and now this...).

That was such a load of crap....it was like watching a kitten fight a hound, yet the kitten is somehow pronounced the winner.

that judgement was absolute garbage and even coaches from other countries Questioned it. It is one thing to think you are getting a raw deal but when fellow competitors are seeing the same thing .

Sorry for posting way too late - but CONGRATULATIONS CANADA .... 13 medals is not too shabby B) ... let's hope for Adam van Koeverden and some divers to add a few medals (hopefully some gold for the better rank in the official medal table) ... :)

Emile Heymans just won the Silver on the women's 10m platform... nearly broke up the Chinese gold sweep but the last diver was nearly perfect.

The Chinese divers are both like 4 foot 5, 60 pounds.

Eric Lamaze is in a jump off for gold in equestrian jumping. :D

And he will either equal or surpass Canada's best ever finish in individual show jumping (silver in Montreal).

The weather isin't that great in Hong Kong, whit the typhoon coming and all...

First Equestrian gold for Canada since 1968! Great result from Erik Lamaze and Hickstead, the two best Canadian athletes at the Beijing games so far!

Canada in men's relay final !! :)

Wow ... what was that in the 4x100m men's semi-final ? Only 10 of 16 teams passed the finish line ... 2 DSQ and 4 DNF ... that's a pretty weird result  ... well, with the USA and Britain not qualified for the final this brings a chance for Canada to win a medal. Probably none of the teams will top Jamaica being the top sprinting nation in Beijing ... but Canada, Trinidad & Tobago and Japan might fight for silver in there ... ?!? Good luck, Canada ;) !!

GOLD IN EQUESTRIAN

Eric Lamaze and Hickstead made it and brought home Canada's 3rd gold medal in Beijing ... what en equestrian nation you are suddenly ;)

This makes Canada being 16th in the medal table with 3G, 7S, 5B ... go, Canada, go :P !!!

They'll need a huge run to crack the podium but they've got a chance at least.

Pretty much they need to beat Japan. The times between the top 4 (Canada, Japan, Jamaica, Trinidad) are out of reach from the rest with Nigeria, Great Britain and other countries that could take advantage of the US absence.

For some reason I think the final is gonna be similar in that their will be drops and DQs.

Canada has about 10 medal chances left, 9 of them fairly good shots.

I am just worried that the strong results will get the new funding cut, just like Atlanta's did in the late '90s.

Well now...Canada has just pulled out its 5th best ever medal haul ever (matching results from 1928 and 1932) and there are still a few days left. One more medal and it ties for 4th best (1908) and if we eek out 3 more, we tie our 3rd best from Barcelona. Looking good!
