micheal_warren
its still only early days! New Zealand were predicted to get 12 medals and none of those events have played out yet so fingers crossed! Will be a close call though with rowing bringing bulk opportunities for new zealand

New Zealand were predicted to get 12 medals and none of those events have played out yet so fingers crossed! Will be a close call though with rowing bringing bulk opportunities for new zealand Yup, the core of Canada's predicted medal haul will come in the 2nd half. It's just upsetting today to have two shots at medals today that Canada was favoured to medal in not happen. Hayden fails to qualify for the Finals for the 100m Freestyle, where he won gold at the last World Championships and the Men's 4x200m relay team who have medaled at the World Championships and fail to medal here. One bright thing to note is there have been a lot of Canadian records broken in Beijing. The Swim team will definitely be much improved for London 2012. Kenadian
Nope...Still zip. I hope that after Vancouver, the country starts to invest as much in Summer sport as it does Winter sport. The eighth largest team at the Beijing Games and still no medals 5 days into it with official hopes of 12-15 medals is a scandal! A great goal...let's aim to have in the entire 16 days what either Australia or Korea have amounted in their first 5.

Guardian
Even the American NBC's network commentators are asking what is going on with the Canadian team here at Beijing 2008.
dave199
Well if our overall performance here ends up being worse than in Athens, maybe the COC and government officials will finally wake up. More investment into Olympic sport and athlete development would most likely happen.
