29 October 2007

Nine cities have submitted Candidature Files for the 1st Summer Youth Olympic Games in 2010 by the deadline of 26 October: Athens (Greece), Bangkok (Thailand), Debrecen (Hungary), Guatemala City (Guatemala), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Moscow (Russian Federation), Poznan (Poland), Singapore (Singapore) and Turin (Italy).

Next steps

These Files will be analysed in the coming weeks by a panel of experts representing the Olympic Movement. This panel will draw up a shortlist of Youth Olympic Games Candidate Cities which will be announced on 19 November 2007. An IOC Youth Olympic Games Evaluation Commission will continue to study the Candidature Files and further analyse the short-listed Candidate Cities’ projects. If necessary in the context of this analysis, the Evaluation Commission will visit the short-listed Candidate Cities. The Commission will submit its report to the IOC Executive Board, which will make a recommendation to the IOC members who will elect the host city for the 1st Summer Youth Olympic Games by postal vote in February 2008. The announcement of the host city will take place at the end of February 2008.
