baron-pierreIV
OK, we're on to Beijing. Burning question -- so to speak  -- who do you think will light the cauldron?
DrunkWithBode
It would be nice if they went back to one of their star athletes from the '84 Games, their first Olympics in over 50 years. Maybe the gymnast Li Ning.
Kenadian
Fu Mingxia - winner of 4 golds and a silver. Diving competitions in Barcelona, Atlanta & Sydney. She can jump off a springboard with torch in hand!
baron-pierreIV
Oops, I forgot Michelle Kwan. Maybe she'll run one of the Taiwan legs (her folks are from there); if she doesn't "recuse" herself. :wwww:
BethnalGreen
Not that it is relevant or even likely to happen, but i the interest of a bit of fun, I had to go with Ang Le - the most talented in the list!
Guardian
Yeah, a Taiwanese lighting the cauldron at Beijing 2008. That would be intriguing.
IceNarcissus
Definitely Fu Mingxia but if they really want to stick to the hardcore "women in sports" thing they should do Zhang Shan. Skeet shooting used to be a mixed gender event she won gold in Barcelona beating all men. In Atlanta however it was changed to a men's only event and a women's skeet wasn't added until Sydney. Pui from HK
The list for polling is very bad taste. I guess it will be Xiu Haifeng who light the flame. Xiu Haifeng is the first even Chinese gold medalist, who also got the first gold medal in shooting in the 1984 LA Olympic. It will be very meaningful for him to light the 2008 flame. baron-pierreIV
The list for polling is very bad taste. Oh, lighten :wwww:  up, Pui. It's not like these Olympic voodoo rituals are sacred or what anymore. What? Do you watch in absolute silence, wide-eyed reverence and total awe as these gas-guzzlers are lit? If so, then you've completely wasted your time here on GamesBids.
Kenadian
The politics of a marksman lighting the Olympic Flame in China could be kind of tricky. I'm sure the human rights groups would have a field day.
