Anyone Got The Ticket Already?

I truthfully think going to Beijing for a week would be cheaper than going to Vancouver for the same time. I am planning on going to Vancouver and I am estimating 7,000 in costs if I get a majority of my tickets, I am not sure what I would expect for hotel/hostel, I am hoping its only going to be around 150 a night, but have estimated as much as 300, because I just don't know what to expect.

Well a 3 star hotel in Beijing starts at around $300 a night for the Games period (usually it would cost $40 or so US a night). YOu can still get private hostel rooms for around $100 a night. Maybe $120 with private faciities. Dorm beds are still megacheap. Tickets for most sports in Beijing are also really cheap - but there are few options for either tickets or hotels left...

So - no swimming, very few gymnastics and no ceremony. Hmm, well I am not surprised but am glad I got my Canoe-kayak session and some Gymnastics. I am also absolutely thrilled to at least get inside the Aqua Cube for a diving session. It seems the other sessions I thought I asked for didn't get accepted - but they were all for rowing and football - so I am not worried about that as there are a ton of tickets left for those events.

Overall I see this as a great adventure - regardless of what tickets I got. I guess without sounding all sucky that I am lucky to be in the position to go at all - and being almost a regular to Beijing the atmosphere (and smog in that atmosphere!!!!) will be electric.

So - shall we have an official GB party at Beihai Park or Tiantin Park to watch the Ceremony at the Live Sites - as it seems only Tominger and NOC got tickets? Unless of course I decide to pay thousands and chance it with the ticket touts!!

You didn't request a whole lot compared to CP, but it should be good. I hope you get lucky with the field hockey ticket and get to see some good people. I unfortunately don't think I will get out to a summer Olympics until 2016 and that is only if Chicago wins.

I have looked into things and for Canada at least, Rowing is a no go, same with canoe/kayaking, I will be surprised if they appear on cosport on Monday. If they do I might just spend the 20/30 dollars to get a rowing ticket as a souvenir because I am a huge fan of the sport. I guess different countries have different preferences, for instance for a Canadian to get a field hockey ticket would be a lot easier than a German.

You see I did ask for a lot more - however my amended order didnt go through - so I was surprised to get what I did at the end of the day. I did get some Gymnastic sessions I didn't ask for which is weird - but OK! I still think my best bet will be buying additional tickets when I get to Beijing.

But at what price, triple or quadruple the face value?

No no - there will be official ticket wiondows all over Beijing. Since I get into Beijing a week prior to the Games, I will be there for all final releases of unclaimed sponsor and NOC tickets. Normally some great seats and sessions become available - that is what happened in Barcelona, Lillehammer, Atlanta, Nagano, Sydney, SLC and Athens - not so much in Torino due to smaller venues.

So those tickets are at face value and bought through BOCOG. I am assuming on the spot sales in Beijing will be open to all during the Games. Actually I better check on that - as a Non Chinese the international sale may be all that I can access - which would be really wierd!

Oh, I had no idea, I remember hearing during Sydney and Salt Lake certain tickets could be bought at the door, but they weren't popular events, I remember a group of like 20 Canadian athletes getting into a taekwondo session where a Canadian won a medal the day off.

Hi Everyone

My first post here in this forum (after lurking for a while). The site has been great while I waited to hear what tickets I got from CoSport (Australia)

Congratulations to everyone who has tickets so far and all your advice provided. My question is - does anyone know if it is possible to have an idea of which tickets (sports) will be available during hte live sales period? It is a pretty easy guess in most cases - but is there actually site where we know this information - I guess not?

Which means we just have to wait until Nov 26 (hopefully) and then actu quickly - and also buy in Beijing as well

Can't wait

Thanks to all

Sadly all legitimate sources for Opening Ceremony tickets (NOCs, etc) seem to have dried up. It is now up to you if you are willing to pay top dollar through ticket brokers. I personally have decided I will grab a few Tsingtao's and rock on down to Tiananmen or Tianten Park and watch the live cross. It will be an excellent experience being surrounded by rowdy locals celebrating the biggest event Beijing has seen since June 4th 1989. I hope this one will turn out better for all involved!!

There wont be a huge degree of variety. I'd say it looks best if you want team sport tickets - Football, Softball, Baseball, Water Polo, Handball - these aren't hugely popular in China. Also I'd say there is a good chance of there being substantial rowing and fencing tickets. A few athletics tickets. Tennis perhaps.

Forget about any gymnastics, swimming and ceremony tickets. Boxing looks dicey.

The bottom line is Australia got a very small allocation, most people would have hopefully accepted their allocations leaving few tickets in the pot. I will try to get some additional sessions - if not I'll try my luck in Beijing.

I just received few minutes ago a email from Cosport confirming the "live Sale" this monday.

They don't specify at what time they start, and under wich time channel

Anybody knows ?

I tried to called them last week with no success.

I haven't received that email, but it's nice to know that they are still on schedule (for once)!

I called them last Monday to inquire, and asked whether it was still on and what time, and they said that they didn't know what time yet, and weren't sure whether or not they were actually going to release the time. vague as always! I tried calling yesterday (Friday) to see whether they had any more details, but it was Black Friday in the US and they were closed. I even tried calling my home country's Jet Set Sports office, but they were closed too. I guess we'll just have to wait in anticipation all day Monday. Hopefully it's early so I can get on with things!

Was the date still November 26 for the Australians? Technically it is Nov 26 for them right now, and it will cease being November 26 for them by the time morning comes for us North Americans... hmm...

Can anyone in Sydney (or can call free to sydney) call cosport and ask what time they'll be on sale? Tel: + 61 2 9241 5500
