It looks nice. Is the plant element of any symbolism to Prague or Czech Republic?

It seems it's just a laurel branch:

Prague Signs Declaration For 2016 Summer Olympic Bid

Posted 12:24 pm ET (GamesBids.com)

Prague Mayor Pavel Bem and Czech Olympic Committee chairman Milan Jirasek signed a declaration of interest to the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Tuesday and also unveiled the official Prague 2016 logo.

Bem said at the ceremony attended by a dozen Czech athletes, “we are all part of a single national team” and Jirasek said “it’s a truly historic moment”.

Organizers also unveiled the Prague 2016 logo made by artist Eduard Kauba. The logo consists of green numbers in the year 2016 shaped like a laurel branch as a symbol of victory with the name PRAHA and green laurel twigs for the winners. The twigs are intertwined with ribbons.

Jirasek called it a “momentous day, without any exaggeration. It is an irreversible step. We have no choice but to continue and try to win the Olympics for the Czech Republic. Now no excuses can come”.

He said all those involved in the candidature were aware that the whole process was at the beginning.

Bem said this was not only the affair of the city, but all Czechs. “The Olympic Games are a tremendous challenge for all of us. It touches upon our national pride and on everything of what we can be rightly proud. However, it is not the question of any sports enthusiasm and dreaming. It is a deeply pragmatic and economic question”.

You're welcome... but I'm not Spanish :P

Yeah, I know, you're a portugese... :D And I can't speak portugeses.... I thought gracias uses both in spain and portugal, but I think i'm wrong... :(

OK, now, talk about the logo, Hmm... I feel is not like an olympic bid logos, but is more like an agricultural company logo.. or something about agricultural, And Rob, i agree with you, the font is so ungel with the logo itself, hmm.... maybe because it's just a warm up bid, so they just make a ordinary logo ? Hmm.... but i think it's still a little better than "moaning Lisa" logo :P

We say Obrigado (if you're a man; Obrigada, if you're a woman). It sounds kind of like the Japanese "thank you", Arigato.

Prague bid knows perfectly it doesn't stand a chance. It wouldn't even stand a chance against a Budapest bid, which wouldn't stand a chance either against these 2016 confirmed bidding cities. Why bother making a better (more expensive?) logo?

It's not a bad logo, but the laurel's directionality reminds me of Leipzig's 2012 logo.

Kool! The only problem with it is the font. I don't know why recent Olympic logos have awful fonts! The ugly font of the uncapitalized London in the 2012's logo first and now this!

Tokyo's "look we're so high-tech" font got my vote! I think it's the best.

Nope; it's NOT just the font. The 2016 on a stem just doesn't say anything. What's so "Prague" about it? Is it a quill (which is how it struck me at first); or is it a take-off on Dali's "melting watches"? Why is 20 below the 16? It says nothing about what a beautiful old city it is -- and how it will welcome the world in an OG. Everybody knows "2016" is the year.

What it conveys to me -- and maybe that is the message to the IOC is that this is a 'wishy-washy' logo knowing we (Prague) are not serious about a 2016 run, but just trying it for a more serious run the next 2 times.

Overall, a clean but WEAK logo.
