i wonder if Dubreul (?) and Lauzon will be returning next year?

I was watching on tv last night and they said that they'll return next season to go for Gold in Vancouver. If they return they'll be one of the Gold medal favourites in Vancouver. Then we have our other Dance team which is in place to currently medal at these World Championships. We'll have two teams that would be serious medal contenders in the Ice Dancing discipline.

Then we have 1 serious medal contender in Ladies Skating.

1 serious medal contender in Pairs that just won the Bronze medal at these World Championships.

Then 1 serious medal contender in Mens Skating. Jeff Buttle won the Bronze medal at the Torino Olympics and currently sits in 1st place after the Short Program at these World Championships.

Things are looking great for Canada come Vancouver 2010.

Except you know, when it comes to actual Olympic time, the home team favorites usually flub out due to nerves, injuries. Check out the past histories.

Not when lots of money has been invested into the athlete program through "Own The Podium", which also provides our athletes with the best psychological coaches to keep their minds at ease and off the nerves. Team Canada has completely overhauled their Winter Sporting program and it's really paying off right now.

Baron, the US did all they could in SLC, Japan wasn't that strong in 1998, either was Norway or France. Canada and Russia have been the only countries that consistently produce medal potentials in at least 3 of the disciplines since the turn of the century, we both have had threats in Men's, pairs and ice dance and Russia has always had a good female.

Canada should be able to take 3 medals in figure skating if things continue as they are.

Its just unfortunate that Cynthia Pheneuf got into injury trouble, she was a raising star and has not yet got back on course.

Jeffrey Buttle leader after the short will be skating last in the free skate.

Johnny Weir (US) is #2, but Brian Joubert (FRA) is #6 -- going into the Final portion. Best Russian guy is #15!!

Am shocked Belbin and Agosto only coming in #4 in the total. I guess that fall of Tanith really hurt them.

Here's their disastrous Compulsory Dance portion: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y8vo8XDgzps...feature=related And they started so greatly too!!

But it's good for them to fall at this time; giving them enough time to regroup for next year and Vancouver.

Buttle is gonna screw up again like last year.

I cannot believe that Buttle won the world championships, by 14 points no less. A skater without a quad in regular use winning by such a convincing margin.

Canada was the only country to have a skater in the top 5 of each event, something the Russians usually do.

I read on CBC.ca that the Grand Prix Final will be held in South Korea next season, and it will be a junior and senior tournament together (the junior-level skaters have their own Grand Prix circuit, which takes them to more diverse countries each season than the senior circuit does).

Ooooo, that'll be feather in South Korea's cap especially in PyongChang's preparation for a renewed 2018 Winter bid.

Canada will be sending 3 men's skaters, 2 ladies skaters, 3 teams for pairs and 2 teams for ice dance in Los Angeles 2009. USA will have 2 ladies and pairs team and 3 men's and ice dance pairs.
