torch-d
:glare: Sorry eegra, but I think that Hitlers "holiday palace" ( it was called "Plattnerhof") hasn´t something to do with the Berchtesgaden 1992 bid.
Citius Altius Fortius
By the way Berchtesgaden was part of the Salzburg bid, because it is the next larger city to the luge/bobsleigh venue at the Königsee.
amorincognito
Yeah, I see it, Suit U Sir! I never saw the BA 2004 logo, but I like it a lot. And yeah, the Osaka 2008 logo looked a whole lot like Nagano's 1998 logo.... But I dunno about my favorites....I have a place in my heart for my mom's hometown, Brasília 2000 (the Metropolitan Cathedral is one of my most favorite buildings), and for Rio 2004. amorincognito
All of the logos here are great; it's hard to pick which one I like best. For Summer, I'll pick two no one has done yet. Düsseldorf 2012. I like the flags and the colours. I think that might be what Paris was trying to do.... Madrid 2012. Simplicity and style, not much else to say.... So many good summer ones too, practically all of them for 2004: Athens, Buenos Aires, Cape Town, Rio, Rome. All have been mentioned. For Winter, one you've already seen: Vancouver 2010. If only there was a mountain that looked like the maple leaf.... Anchorage 1994 and Helsinki 2006 come close too.

torch-d
Hey, I´ve found the Berlin 2000 Paralympic Bid mascot. It´s really cool. What is it? ??? Berlin was the only city, which had an own Paralympic bid logo, during the bidding for the 2000 Olympic Games. The logo here is the Paralympic bear. The red dot should symbolise an injured eye ( hint for Paralympics) and you´ve got the colours red, black and gold ( the German national colours). The bear is the coat of arms of the city of Berlin. 4gamesandcounting
A lot of people have mentioned Atlanta - but I think it is a very boring one. And best bid logo has to be Athens: (simply superb) I also like Roma (2004) and Helsinki (2006) As for greatest improvement from bid to games logo - I don't think that it is Nagano but Salt Lake City - very boring logo for the bid. Other suggestions for most improved logo from bid logo?
Cobi
Other suggestions for most improved logo from bid logo? IMHO, Barcelona. From a very boring and old looking logo... ...to a very dinamic and colourful one: BTW, I agree that Athens 2004 is the best Olympic bid logo (together with Rome'04 and Buenos Aires'04). mattygs
I dunno, it's not that bad. The font and everything is yuck, but the design itself is ok. I suppose it has a Native American design look to it, aswell as stylised mountains. And I've also read about the place, people looking at it and seeing a stylised representation of the Mormon temple in Salt Lake.
Kenadian
Barcelona was a major improvement from bid logo to games logo. Atlanta, Sydney and Athens were good logos to begin with and were merely transitions into logos that were just as good. I think Beijing went from great to mediocre. Salt Lake and Torino went from decent to good. Albertville and Lillehammer barely changed. But the most improved in my mind? Definately Nagano! Their bid logo was just so boring but the games logo was inspired. Bid... Games...
4gamesandcounting
I'm sorry Kendegra I cannot see the appeal of the Atlanta bid logo - very ordinary. Although I agree that Nagano is a great improvement.

thatsnotmypuppy
Its based on a statue near the old Olympic Stadium. I think they moved the statue in 2003 - so I have no idea where it is now. It represents the freedom of man... and horse I assume.
