Guardian
What is there more to say to Canadians about these Games? On Friday, the battle of the provinces and the territories begin. Of course, it seems to me that it always comes down to an Ontario/Quebec showdown in most of the events contested. I am not worried about that because it gives the Canadian youth more sporting experience, should some of them go the way of athletes like Catriona Lemay-Doan or others that has participated in these past Games. But, we will see what happens this time around, won't we? Guardian
Atleast Yukon and the way North get to host something. Well, they do get the host the Arctic Winter Games on a rotational basis between "Arctic regions."

Guardian
These Games are now half done. If I'm right, it is usually the time to "rotate the athletes" and the second half of the competition has athletes that didn't arrive in Whitehorse until after the opening ceremony. Anyway, here is the medal tally so far and it is no surprise to me. Quebec -> 34 gold, 19 silver, 21 bronze Ontario -> 16 gold, 21 silver, 17 bronze Alberta -> 13 gold, 12 silver, 14 bronze British Columbia -> 9 gold, 15 silver, 15 bronze Manitoba -> 3 gold, 8 silver, 13 bronze Saskatchewan -> 7 gold, 7 silver, 9 bronze New Brunswick -> 1 gold, 1 silver, 6 bronze Prince Edward Island -> 1 gold, 2 bronze Nova Scotia -> 1 silver Nunavut -> 1 bronze Yukon -> 1 bronze

MrPortuCanada
Yeah to try and even the events more between the Summer and Winter games a few Summer events that can be staged indoors are in the Winter games, like Judo and Badminton for example. --------- And yeah I tried watching... the broadcasting is really lame. So I stick to hockey and speed skating.

MrPortuCanada
It's nice to see a different province then Ontario win! And even nicer to see Alberta have an edge over British Columbia... it's usually the other way around... and 8 medals to the Territories is really good too! As for 2009, I'm betting on Charlottetown. Although PEI could possibly spread events all over the island.
MrPortuCanada
I just read that this is the list of upcoming hosts... 2009 SUMMER - Prince Edward Island 2011 WINTER - Halifax, Nova Scotia 2013 SUMMER - Quebec 2015 WINTER - NUNAVUT 2017 SUMMER - ONTARIO Are the last two official... I know the other 3 have been confirmed. Interesting to see Nunavut hosting... even more interesting to see Ontario host since they just hosted the 2001 Summer games in London. And apparently there is a rotation system, and therefore that would make no sense since British Columbia hasn't hosted since 1993, Alberta hasn't hosted since 1995, Northwest Territories never, etc.
