Guardian
It will be interesting if this happens again at the 2003 World Police and Fire Games. These Games have more sports than the Summer Olympic Games in its overall program. Some of those in Canada still remember that shining moment at Montjuic Olympic Stadium when Mark McKoy (sp?) won the gold medal in the men's 110m hurdles event. It was the first time in a very long time the Canadian national anthem was played in the main stadium.

mattygs
That fantastic view from the diving is used in a tv ad for Intel I think, I've seen it on BBC World alot - looks great. And I actually just got to see Barcelona's handover ceremony at the closing of the Seoul Olympics, and I have to say it was actually quite classy. Guardian
I forgot what Barcelona did for their presentation in the Seoul 1988 Olympics closing ceremony. I do remember some dancing in it. Stop me, if I'm wrong, but is this type of Spanish dancing called FLAMENCO dancing?
mattygs
Yeah, it did include dancing. The downer was that the whole presentation ,because of the way the closing of Seoul was done, was presented on a section of the running track. I think it all would have looked even better(the Barcelona handover that is) if it had been done on a stage that gave u a real focal point to look at. Sort of like Atlanta had with their handover at Barcelona. But anyway. They had a mini model thing of the spires of the Sagrada Familia and infront of them, they had a bunch of female dancers wearing red and yellow (I think) dancing about with fans. Quite good music. Then nearer to the end they had a little buggie vehicle moving in with a large Cobi at the front, and with other dances behind(may have been Korean dancers). And at the end they were all dancing around, and on cue(and it was all worked in quite well and timed ) the dancers(Korean and from Barcelona) had their fans all out and from behind the spires came a little banner thing with the Barcelona official logo on it. As I said, all timed and choreographed well and it made it look quite cool.

What was the budget for the Barcelona World Police & Fire Games as well as the Quebec 2005 WPF Games? I don't really know what the budget was for the Barcelona WPFG, but it received an impact of 60 million euros for the city. As for Quebec City, that's a mystery, too. Suit U Sir !!!
Barcelona's opening and closing ceremonies were very nice, especially when they did something different regarding how the olympic flame was lit- with the arrow/archery method. It was copied by Atlanta in 1996. What will Athens come up with I wonder.......

Suit U Sir !!!
Atlanta copied Barcelona? Could you give me some examples to refresh my mind about this? I mean that Atlanta copied the way in which the olympic torch/ flame was lit. Barcelona was the first city to use the archery method. 4 years later atlanta lit their olympic torch in the same way.
