Brekkie Boy Posted August 21, 2004 Report Posted August 21, 2004 After Birmingham failed in 1992 and Manchester in both 1996 and 2000, the plan after the 1993 result was for London to bid for 2004. However, the plan never got off the ground. Manchester went on to bid for the 2002 Commonwealth Games, and England for the 2006 World Cup, with a bid for the 2008 Olympics suggested - although in fact it wasn't till 2012 London would bid for the games. Just think, these games could have been in London. Considering the awful weather Britain has had for the last month or so, it's a good job they backed out. That's what I call forward planning!
