Dear GB Moderator

I am currently experiencing problems with staying on the website.I can access it okay but once I start searching and posting it keeps throwing me out and breaking the internet connection (I have AOL Broadband).

I only seem to be experiencing the problem with THIS website.

Everything else seems fine.I have anti-virus and anti-spyware programmes running and have run computer fixes galore and none of them indicate any problem with any connexion or software.I can't think what else to do!

Has anybody else experienced this kind of problem with the website do you know and,if so,how did they tackle it?

I recently replaced and upgraded my processor and have re-installed AOL software several times. But the same thing keeps happening.

As a paid-up premium member,I will be grateful for any advice you can give me!!

Thanks in anticipation.

PS.I'd better keep this short before the system throws me out again!

Since the redesign of the site I've had the problem that every now and then out of the blue my browser says it can't continue to run the script on the page and then locks out. It's more an annoyance than a fatal flaw _ it's easy enough to log back on, and it doesn't happen a lot (maybe once or twice a day) but it does happen on both my work and my home PC.

Hi often does this happen?

Nobody else has reported such a problem so I'm not sure how I can help. I know there are often problems reported with AOL but I'm not sure if they are related. When did this problem start?

I'm not sure if they are related either. As I say,it started soon after I replaced my hard-drive and upgraded my processor and re-installed the AOL software a couple of weeks ago! I contacted an AOL technician the other day and when he went into this website he remarked on the number of adverts and pop-ups and implied that they might be the problem. He advised me to install an Ad-ware programme to block unwanted adverts and told me to re-set my web settings (I already employ a block on pop-ups).The technician said he would run the website on his own computer to see if it caused HIM any problems and he promised to get back to me if it did.He hasn't got back to me so far.At first,I thought his suggestions had cracked the prroblem for me but after a few hours, the same thing started happening again and even more frequently!

At the moment,I am trying out the theory of NOT blocking the "Do you like Tony Blair?" advert that automatically comes up when I log on to the website.I've just minimized it out of site, rather than closing it as I normally do.So far so good....we can only see.I'll keep you posted (if the system will let me!)

An update to the connection problems I've been experiencing. When it last happened two days ago,I finally received an online Crash Analysis report from Microsoft. It advised me to disable my Add-Ons which I proceeded to do.(You do this by clicking on the Tools Menu and then clicking on Manage Add-Ons).

I proceeded to disable them all with the exception of an Anti-Virus programme and,so far,it seems to have done the trick at least so long as I use browsers other than AOL.Why the problem should have occurred mainly with THIS website or why AOL still gives me the odd problem,I have no idea! I am monitoring how it goes for the next few days and,if I don't experience further problems,I will try to isolate the offending Add-On by re-enabling them one by one until the problem starts again. If I can isolate the culprit,I will report it here and to Microsoft.

I will report back further for the benefit of anyone else who may encounter this type of problem.

GBModerator, is it just me or I can't get some .gif images posted on my posts for whatever reasons I didn't get? When I try to post some images on my posts, I can only get the "IPB Image" phrase there. Also, is it me or why is there a "Google.com" member in the members' names section, but there is no such member for real in the general members list?

I just assumed that that was the user name that flashed up when someone stumbled across us on a google search (the same as the "ask jeeves" user name that also appears from time to time). That said, I have noticed sometimes "google.com" being listed as using personal messenger or user CP etc. That's a bit weird.

Gotta say, though, when you look at the users list, it's interesting to see some of the old threads google-com users are looking at _ some of them are like a trip down memory lane of the great arguments and debates we've had here!

Okay, this is a weird question, and not very important, but I'm curious, nevertheless.

When it comes to starting new topics, I find that I'm unable to use capital letters in anything but the first letter of a word. Not that I'd want to put a whole title name in caps (it's like shouting), but I notice others manage to start new threads with the titles fully capped, and in some cases I do want to use consecutive capitals (for things like USA, LA, SF etc) but no matter what I do, the word comes out as Usa, La or Sf in the title. I don't see anyone else having that problem. Any reason why?

You want weird? Here's another one I just saw: Archive.org. What are these "names" anyway and what are their aims here?

GBModerator, I like the improvements you made for these forums. However, when I clicked on the icons for, as examples, bold print or the emotion face, and the "forums option" one, I cannot seem to get them to activate at all. Are you and your team still working on the bugs to make them work properly right now?

Yes, we're still working

I seem to be having the same sorts of problems. I can't seem to post links or pics etc.

For the links and pics, for me, I have to type in the URL commands and the Internet addresses of any article or picture in full myself. You might want to click on the BB Code Help button on the bottom right-hand corner of where you type these kinds of posts for guidance.

in the international bid section, since we have a forum for the Commonwealth Bid section, is it possible by chance to have a section on Asian Games Bid section? Or is it not exciting enough maybe? I could give it a try though to make it interesting~ haha~ At first I wasn't really sure if ppl would be interested in the Asian Games, but based on the Doha 2006 Asian Games topic thread, there seems to be a good response for this event....

But newho~ there is currently a 2014 Asian Games bid going on that's gonna be decided soon (APRIL 2007).... So, I thought it may be interesting to have a specific forum made for Asia's largest event among gamesbids' forums.

EDIT:

Well, after sorta reseaching on the Asian Games bid for 2014, there's really not enough source to get lots of info on the Asian Games bid.... I have heard about a 2015 Asian Winter Games bid being in process too, but I have no idea who's bidding for that because there's no media report on it it seems like....

But neway, back to about the 2014 Asian Games bid.... I'm surprised to find that New Delhi has NO OFFICIAL WEBSITE (not that i know of) regarding their bid.... I could only google Incheon 2014 Bid website... so, I guess it won't be interesting for a forum if the whole forum is only about 2014 Incheon...... so, if you don't see this topic being worthy of getting its' own forum, I won't complain... ^^

Please be patient everyone. We are aware of the problems and will be implementing a fix soon.

Are you also working on those "Internal Server Errors" displayed whenever one tries to open certain topics? I noticed so far that in the "Other International Games" section, the "FIFA World Cup 2010 - South Africa" and the "The 15th Asian Games - Doha 2006" topics cannot be opened without that error (except for the last page).
