Hi the boss ! Can we not create a section dedicated to Pan-american games ? especially for Rio 2007 to replace their Rio 2012 section (Rio/havana) ? I know a lot of brazilians who were really sad, maybe it can be a compensation, and it's close to olympic games spirit ! thanks, bye !

Nice jesture but few people outside of Latin America have any interest in the Pan AM Games. :(

I am one of them, to not be particulary interested by this, but the fact is that when you go on the Other International Games section of the forum, it's so mixed that you are not able to see how evolve situations, for exemple how evolve rio infrastructures and accomodations (and life) and so on. How evolve things to keep in mind that maybe with this evolution, it could make another bid for 2016 or later :)

as the moderator is gonna be organising the topics (i think), in the international games section, he could organise it as a group and the topics are divided by continent, so the section is more organised!  :ooh:

Why all the Popups. I have never been on a site with so many including advertising for porn???

Do you mean "dating" ads.... Or do you literally mean porn?

Because I do not get such pop ups... But I do get dating services pop ups when I enter gaemsbids...

Mr. GBModerator, i'm not going to post this in the Events & Meetings forum just yet but i propose a GamesBids.com Forums FIFA Soccer (football) World Cup (mens) Contest. it would be a bid for a whole country, with 10 stadiums with at least 40,000 seats each at a standard FIFA state. there will be no geopolitics, just technical merit.

this contest would not be as long as the Olympic Bid Contest and will not be so complicated, and would happen after it. people can be in a max. groups of 3, and if their bid is the winning bid, each member of that bid will be awarded with a 2-year free premium forum membership.

i would like to see how the Olympic Bid Contest goes first before going ahead with this idea, but this contest is smaller in work size than the Olympic Bid Contest.

What do you think?

after this, a 2018 Winter Olympic Bid Contest.

Mr. Moderator, do you have to delete every single topic that's not directly related to 2010 in the Vancouver forum?

i created a "Vancouver Off-Topic Discussion" topic for other Vancouver news only, and that was deleted....and just yesterday, the RAV topic was deleted. RAV is directly related to 2010 since the rapid transit line is suppose to be built in time for 2010.

i'm fed up.

If you look at the forum rules - we do not allow the posting of full copyrighted articles - you may only post short previews and links.  Actually, it's not our rule - it's the law.

Especially in your case where you tend to use articles from Canada.com and other Southam publications - we have already been warned by them for this activity.  we cannot allow it to continue.

Actually, you've been lucky.  We should be banning members for this activity.  Please refrain from doing so in the future.

Also remember, off-topic posts belong in the off-topic forum.  Creating a "Vancouver Off-Topic Discussion" doesn't cut it.

Hi, i have created the topic: "Qual cidade brasileira deve disputar bid 2016?" in Rio de Janeiro and Havana ´s forum to debate with other Brazilians about wich cities could be the best bid. But now it turned into a civil war between two cities: rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo. Im afraid that turn into low level argue, could you delete this topic please??

Thank you!

Hey, GBMod.

I've been posting in these forums a while now, and viewing them for even longer, and I really enjoy it. Keep up the good work!

Two questions:

1. Any idea when the next BidIndex update will be?

2. It seems Leafs Fan annoys and insults nearly everyone on this forum.. from turks to gays etc etc. I'm not even gay and I was insulted by his comments in the 'What's your sexuality topic' (well done for locking it, by the way). He has received multiple warnings: isn't it time that he knows next time he is abusive he gets banned from the fora? It would make the whole place more pleasant for everyone. Thanks!

Hi moderator,

Could you help, I think someone is using the forum as a place to voice there polictical viewpoints rather than have a discussion on olympic matters.

I have found this persons comment extremly hurtfull and unprovoced.

Is there anything you can do to help?

You need to tell me where this post is...

Hello, moderator!

I am wondering if you know how to put an image from like a "paint" program or "word" onto the net without opening a webpage. Mr. X suggested imageshack.us, but I couldn't figure our how to get that to work. I made an image on Microsoft Paint, but it is a bitmap (bmp) and imageshack.us wont accept it. Please help, if possible.

Thanks, I Love Minneapolis

imageshack only accepts .jpg and .gif files. you need to turn that bitmap file into either a .jpg or .gif files by getting paintshop or other programs that can convert this into that.

GBModerator, can you make the forum topic capacity of the Events & Meetings forum bigger because the capacity right now is outrageously small.

  • 2 weeks later...

hello moderator, i was just going to comment on the latest article on gamesbids.com - "London's future transit plans could help its 2012 bid". While it was informative and well-written as always  :D  :;): , there was one paragraph that I think was wrong. It read:

London, one of the five cities short listed for the Games, was warned by the International Olympic Committee it would lose its bid unless rapid improvements were made to “often obsolete” public transport.

Now there are 2 things wrong with this. The report never said London "would lose its bid unless rapid improvements were made". That isn't true.

Probably worse, though, is the misleading quotation "'often obsolete' public transport". The commuter rail system was called 'often obselete', but the Undergroung was praised as one of the most extensive and integrated in the world. London also has very good buses and trams, which were not called 'often obsolete'. That was only the commuter rail system.

I thought it was important I bring that up, because i know Gb.com is a very influential site, and anything misleading could affect attitudes etc.

Thamks for your time :)

This article quotes the Observer, not the report itself.  I'm sure if you check that source you'll see this information written.

I didn't want to make a big thing about it, especially because the news about London transport recently has been so good, but I don't think it's clear the Observer is being quoted. It looks as though the paragraph is written by GB.com:

London, one of the five cities short listed for the Games, was warned by the International Olympic Committee it would lose its bid unless rapid improvements were made to “often obsolete” public transport

Do you see what I mean? Maybe quotation marks would help? Anyway, just because the Observer (which I read anyway) misquotes the IOC, doesn't mean GB.com can't rise above it.

There is no limit to it.  Every topic ever posted in it is still there.

are u sure, because a lot of old contest topics are no where to be found, and there has always been only 1 page for that forum.

Dear Moderator:

I have a question regarding "netiquette"on the board. Several weeks ago, I got an email from someone referencing a post I made on the gamesbids forum. I don't know how he got my email address (He wanted me to sell him my 112th IOC session badge).

I am anonymous on this board for a reason and I am not in the business of selling my IOC memorablilia (that way if it had my name on it, I would no longer be anonymous.)

I did not appreciate being solicited like this and wonder what controls can be done to prevent this in the future. Many thanks.
