It’s been particularly bad for me today too. Took me about an hour to make one post this morning between crashes, time outs, “this file cannot be loaded”, 508 error (something like “all connections on this website are busy”) etc.

Since Thursday or so, I’ve gotten 50+ emails notifying me that in the “near future,” the way we log into the forum will change?

Are there legitimate emails? And, if they are, will unsubscribing from them unsubscribing me from all GB emails? I’m all for getting the word out, but I’m getting almost 20+ a day…

We've been told to change to email based login, so I'd imagine the emails are legit (I haven't received any, maybe I'm not subscribed to GB's mailing list if there exists such a thing?)

I would guess some kind of hiccup in the mail out system if you've got it that many times though!

Hey @GBModerator, the though came up with the launch of this year’s logo comp, but just wondering, is GamesBids.com affected at all by the imminent under 16 social media ban about to be introduced by the Australian Government (on December 10)?

As long as the OZ members who log in(both new and old) here are over 16, there shouldn't be any problems even though this forum is based in Canada, no?

The new laws apply to all social media sites, whether they’re based in Australia or overseas. I don’t trust it to start up without some major glitches, plus the likes of Meta, X and Google are strongly against it and it’s easy to imagine them pulling sites down or other stunts to make their displeasure known.

From what I’ve seen, age verification is going to involve AIs assessing your face to see if you look older, and ID checks (drivers license or passport) if that fails. But I certainly don’t want to give the likes of Bezos, Musk or Zuckerberg access to my ids.

I honestly doubt GamesBids will be affected, but figured I’d ask to be sure.

Can anything be done about how bad the site runs?? Every time I go on, I have to keep pressing the link for whatever page I'm trying to access just to get it to load, or else it gets stuck. It's starting to get very annoying 😭

Someone else is having that problem! For me I have to stop it & refresh to get it to load - but only the first link I click in each visit to the site. After that everything is fine. Do you get a 403 error come up if you leave the first link page running?

Not entirely sure if it’s a 403 error, but they’ll time out often times. Like today I clicked on one of the links and while I waited for it to load, I switched to another tab, and when I came back the page simply blanked out with Safari telling me the server couldn’t be reached or something along those lines…

But yeah, it’s almost always on the first visit, though sometimes it’ll happen again mid-usage

Yeah, I get all the above too. It’s just generally clunky. Another problem that crops up for me occasionally is when I’m trying to post an image, or insert a link, or even just change type size or switch to bold or italics, the reply box tools are just dead and won’t do anything. I usually in those cases have to go away and try again later.
