I've only recently started to make use of the ignore function. It does make for a way more relaxing experience on this site. After all, if what they have done before didn't get them kicked, there's no reason to believe they will ever leave.

Hardly does any good, though, when others still quote the said offender & you can still see their garbage.

Okay, I’ll defend. They were a joke, of course. Humour has long been a popular mainstay of the board. And even then, they’re legitimate threads for different ceremonies in different forums of the board, and can, and possibly will, be used for those ceremonies.

They were a direct response to the latest trend of trying to “get in early” to be the live chat thread starter, for whatever reasons. Sheesh, I remember when those were created a few hours before the  event. Not week’s out from an event in order to claim the attenton of being thread starter.

On past precedent, the red flags are:

* Spamming (commercial or over-posting/thread starting, repeat posting/thread starting)

you are no different to Australiafan according to the above, regardless of the reason or whether it is a one off or constant. Unlike him, you  were intentionally taking the piss, poking fun, which is pathetic.

noting more, nothing less, admit it was childless and spamming and move on. END.

Exactly, & it sure gave me a chuckle (so thank you!), which is very much needed these days, when the board lately seems to be ruled by a pseudo-king!

I mentioned the other day, in the past I always thought that was a premi-feature. Like the polls, just think if it was, much of the BS going on right now would cease, or at least be kept to a minimum.

Thread start ups should at least be limited IMO. Like maybe two or three a week (or in this case, more like two or three a month).

Any chance the menu on the homepage (when in mobile mode) can be tidied up with the removal of links to games which have long since passed taking place, never mind the bidding process.   At the moment you have to scroll through dozens of links to get to the forums link.

Hi @GBModerator,

I think you made a lot of people happy by finally creating dedicated sub-forums for upcoming games such as LA and Brisbane. On behalf of all, thank you heaps!

just two little glitches (that I’ve noticed so far). The sub-forum you created for Gangwon 2024 is actually titled Gangwon 2020. And the section for ticketing and accommodation in the Brisbane sub-forum is titled Brisbane 2028. Both minor things, but hopefully easy to fix.

Anyone else having problems posting to the forum on tablets?

@GBModerator, has there been any tweaks on the settings lately? The last two days I haven't been able to interact with the forums on my iPad. I can read posts, but images and sigs don't load, I can't interact with the input box to post messages and can't really interact with anything else - check boxes, profile, post reactions etc.

Everything's still okay on my laptop (where I'm posting this from) but iPad had just become an inert read-only platform for GamesBids. Puzzled as to why its so - deleted heaps of cookies and rebooted and all the other usual trouble-shooting tips, but nothing. And it only seems to be affecting GamesBids - all other sites are normal with no probs on iPad. Something wrong with GamesBids Forums and iOS compatibility perhaps?

@GBModerator,

A lot of stuff the OCOGs and the IOC are releasing these days is done on socials like X/Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook.

The site already supports the ability to display X/Twitter links. Just wonder if it’s possible for it to support displaying posts from the likes of the others?

I’m glad I’m not the only one. Lately I just give up some days when simply refreshing the page can take minutes to accomplish. That’s when it doesn’t time out or say server not found. Methinks the hamster on the server treadmill has been feasting on too much rich, fatty French food this past few months.

At least it hasn't gone down for days at a time for a while...

Would that even matter at this point. The traffic here since the Olympics ended has dropped significantly. It was hard to even keep-up with everything here during Games-times. Even when it was six month to-go 'til Paris 2024, it was still quite busy around here. Now, it's back to the virtual silence once again (that's if one doesn't count all of the repetitiveness in multiple threads & power-point "lessons" that was going on beforehand).

this has been happening again the past few days ☹️

Like, I'll try to press the back arrow key to go back to the previous page and it'll mark that it's loading, until it just gives up and keeps me in the same page I was in. Then I'll try to click on the Forums logo to go back to the homepage and it too will pretend to load before it gives up.

I've literally had to open a new tab and reopen the site entirely just to be able to move from thread to thread, and it's pretty annoying. Has this been happening to anyone else lately?

Yes, this has been happening to me too lately exactly as you describe, down to opening a new tab just to be able to get back to the home page.

Looks like it's only on the Trump thread, cause when I scroll on this thread nothing happens, but when I go back to the Trump thread the tab crashes again
