oakydoky Posted November 28, 2009 Report Posted November 28, 2009 So how's it related to CWG ?? For goodness sake. He was merely mentioning how the prime minister was attending an important event in the United States. How was your revelation that you are the 21st tomato man related to the CWG?
baron-pierreIV Posted November 28, 2009 Report Posted November 28, 2009 So how's it related to CWG ?? Do I have to spell it out? While the CWG structure is on the verge of collapse in his backyard and might have implications in the next year or so, your Prime Minister is being feted and showing the colors in a world capital as if all is well with things back home. Duh!!
stir.ts Posted November 28, 2009 Report Posted November 28, 2009 I'm in Washington right now and that diner was a really big deal here, first state dinner and all........ Duh!! Who the hell said that the CWG structure is "on the verge of collapse" - the ground reality is here - we were definitely behind schedule but things have changed now - I can bet you a Billion Dollars that all the venues will be 100% before the games! - The work is in full swing now 24x7 - The constructions are proceeding all night through! And besides when you visit Delhi during the CWG - you will be welcomed by the world's 6th largest AIRPORT TERMINAL which will cater all the planes which land on Delhi through aerobridges (only 3 airports in the world can do that), besides you will be taken from the airport straight to the JLN Stadium through a dedicated metro service "Airport Express" - all this and "MUCH MUCH" more......... And this airport is slated to open its door by march next year - at present it the one of the world's biggest construction sites - with over 22,000 workers working day and night along with hundreds from abroad! DELHI 2010 will be the grandest CWG so far.........and the opening n closing ceremonies will be a spectacle you had never witnessed before! INDIA OPENS ITS DOORS TO THE WORLD..................ALL ARE WELCOME ABOARD TO WITNESS A SPECTACULAR GAMES! NAMASTE!
baron-pierreIV Posted November 28, 2009 Report Posted November 28, 2009 Chill. Yeah, you'll eventually get everything ready but NOT before giving the CWG a lot of heartburn and angst--not the best way to aim for the ultimate , future goal, the Olympic Games...which wisely your sports gurus have now pronounced is officially off the table at least for 2020.

Arush Mittal Posted December 7, 2009 Report Posted December 7, 2009 source: http://www.cwgdelhi2010.org/newscont...x?newsid=N:235 MDC National Stadium to be ready by Dec 15 NEW DELHI: The showpiece pitch at the historic Maj. Dhyan Chand National Stadium, renovated venue for next year’s Commonwealth Games hockey competition, will be ready on December 15, nearly a month ahead of the test event – a four-nation tournament to be played from January 13 to 17, 2010. Organising Committee Commomwealth Games 2010 Delhi Chairman Mr. Suresh Kalmadi, MP, who visited the National Stadium on Friday said he was pleased with the way the stadium is turning out. “I must echo what the International Hockey Federation President Mr. Leandro Negre said. This will be the best hockey stadium in the world,” he said. The stadium will have all modern sports facilities. Mr. Kalmadi highlighted the fact that the 20,000-seater stadium would also have floodlights that will generate 2500 lux to cater to the needs of the high definition broadcast during the Commonwealth Games. “Not only will the spectators in the stadium will have better facilities but also those watching the telecast will enjoy the experience,” he said. “I am also delighted by the fact that the façade of the National Stadium, centerpiece of the 1951 Asian Games and the hockey venue for the 1982 Asian Games, has been retained,” he said. “The second pitch will be ready well in time for the World Cup to be staged here from February 28 to March 13.” The National Stadium is owned by the Sports Authority of India and the redesign work has been carried out by CPWD as per the venue brief provided by the Organising Committee. The total cost of project is Rs 201.11 crore. Mr Kalmadi pointed out that besides the two competition pitches and a warm-up pitch at the National Stadium, Delhi would have two more pitches at the Shivaji Stadium and at the Yamuna Sports Complex. “There is no doubt in my mind that the Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi will leave a lasting legacy not only for hockey but for Olympic sport,” he said.
Arush Mittal Posted December 8, 2009 Report Posted December 8, 2009 Source: http://ibnlive.in.com/news/2010-games-gill...06664-5-23.html New Delhi: Sports Minister MS Gill on Monday visited the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium Complex and voiced confidence that it would be ready in time for the 2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games. The venue will host the gymnastic, wrestling and cycling events. The delay in constructing the Games venues led to Gill facing a volley of questions in Parliament last week. The minister said there was still time left for the venues to be readied for the Games scheduled in October next year. "I know we were behind schedule but we need to make sure that we do not compromise on quality and safety," he said. "Most of the work will be finished by December and the rest will be done by January or February. The Games are in October, so we still have a lot of time," Gill told reporters after inspecting the stadium. * Games 2010 work would complete in time, says Gill The work at the cycling velodrome began late and it raised speculation whether it can be finished on time. "There was a debate over the cycling velodrome but we started it only in January 2009 as there were some issues to be sorted out. I think the Sports Authority of India and all the engineers are doing a fine job," he added.
Arush Mittal Posted December 8, 2009 Report Posted December 8, 2009 CWG to generate more than cost of conducting the Games Source: http://www.ptinews.com/news/413298_C...ting-the-Games The 2010 Commonwealth Games will generate Rs 1708 crore, which is Rs 88 crore more than the government has budgeted for the conduct of the multi-discipline event. Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports Pratik Prakashbapu Patil said in the Lok Sabha today that the government has enhanced the budget for the October 3-14 Games from Rs 767 crore to Rs 1620 crore. "The Organising Committee has estimated that it would generate revenue of around Rs 1708 crore from itnernational/domestic broadcasting, sponsorship, ticketing, licensed merchandise, donations etc," the Minister told in his reply to a written question. Explaining the decision to raise the allocation, Patil said, the additional funds are likely to be spent by the Organising Committee on accreditation, city operations, sponsorships and TV rights, security, accommodation, catering, opening and closing ceremonies, protocol and Queens Baton Relay.
