From football365:

Failure To Prepare Is Preparation For Failure

Heady times for Spurs as they prepare for their first European adventure since God-only-knows-when, and the ever-diligent Martin Jol is leaving no stone unturned ahead of the big clash with Slavia Prague.

"We have been preparing for weeks," he informed The Evening Standard. "We have done all our work, we have been to Prague to see Slavia play. We have studied them because we know it is a very important match for us."

Yet the worthiness of this all-encompassing research has been cast in some doubt.

According to Jol, "We can't underestimate them. In the last three years in the UEFA Cup they have reached a semi-final, a quarter-final and the last 16."

In actual fact, Slavia have not progressed beyond the fourth round of the UEFA Cup more than once in the past 15 years. Sparta Prague, on the other hand, have fared rather better...

I'm not feeling quite so confident about Thursday's fixture anymore! :o

1-0 away from home. A good win for us tonight. Hopefully we'll put on a bit more of a show at WHL but it's good to know we can grind out reesults like we did tonight.

Spurs win a cup tie? Write it on the calendar.

:D

I'm very glad Palermo beat the hammers and their riotous/drunk hooligans who devasteted the city' streets just before the match.

I thought the hooligans were nearly extinguished..

Be grateful for small mercies. You won, didn't you?

True enough, but Slavia Prague are a team who are not even on a par with the lowliest of Premiership teams in terms of quality and, despite their lack of any real threat, we struggled to break them down. I'm grateful that we won but it was nowhere near as convincing as I'd hoped it would be.

We need to play better than that in the Premiership otherwise we're in trouble, and to play better we need our best players back.

Me too ! I am happy that cheap club lost !

I'm not, the more English clubs (and Scottish and Irish clubs) in Europe the better imho. I have to say, it's a shame Derry went out to PSG after their incredible result (0-0) against them in the first leg. They should be proud that they proved more than a match for one of France's biggest clubs.

If you take off your xenophobic glasses for more than a fraction of a second, it might just register in your brain that two sets of fans were involved and not just one.
