Olympian2004 511
Thanks for all those files and links! I have another one -- it's the official fanfare of the Munich 1972 Games. http://www.olympia72.de/olympia-fanfare.mp3 It originates from a great website about those Games, by the way. But sadly, that website is in German only. Here are some more links from that Munich 1972 website: The beginning of Kurt Edelhagen's arrangement for the parade of nations: http://www.olympia72.de/ouvertuere.mp3 The end of the arrangement: http://www.olympia72.de/finale.mp3 Finally, the "Munich Fanfare March" performed by Günter Noris and the Bundeswehr (Federal Army) Big Band at the closing ceremony: http://www.olympia72.de/march.mp3

christos 0
Does anybody have the music played in Athens, during medal ceremony?
PYRROS2004 0
It's the same person that composed the 'Fanfares' when Gianna entered the stadium. He's a greek living in Australia, but I don't remember his name at the moment. Although Dimitris Papaioannou wanted to release a CD with the music of the ceremonies, there is a legal problem with the copyright that he signed with IOC when he took over the ceremonies. So probably we must IOC if they plan to release a CD with the music.
christos 0
After two years, is it possible? Thanks anyway PYRROS2004
christos 0
What was the music in Athens Ceremony, at the tribute to Olympic cities and when Nikos Kaklamanakis lights the cauldron?
Olympian2004 511
What was the music in Athens Ceremony, at the tribute to Olympic cities and when Nikos Kaklamanakis lights the cauldron? The two pieces were called "Torch Journey Around the World" and "Pyros 1" by John Psathas, the guy from New Zealand (not Australia) who also composed the fanfares for the opening ceremony and the medal ceremony music. You can look up all infos about the pieces played at Athens' opening ceremony here: http://home.iprimus.com.au/beethoven2001/thegames/ (click at the banner "Athens Special") And just one request: In case you have some more questions about Olympic musical pieces, could you please open a new topic for those? Because this topic here is about posting links to musical pieces. Thus it's quite annoying for me (and others) to look forward to the (supposedly) new links whenever someone has made a new post in this topic and then it turns out to be just another question, and not a link. Thank you!

I remember someone posted the version of The Church ''Under the Milky Way'' played at the opening ceremony and ''Dont dream it's over'' on the closing, but i can't found the tracks anymore. If someone have the OST please upload it to www.filefactory.com. Thanks
LinkParkFn 6
I already have the cds for the Sydney Opening and Melbourne Opening and Closing, but this is pretty nice, though every time I tried to open Tin Symphony there was an error message, so if anyone has that I hope they'd consider uploading it. Thanks though. Here's a few tracks: Sarah Blasko-Don't Dream It's Over http://www.filefactory.com/file/566413/ The Church-Under the Milky Way http://www.filefactory.com/file/c4820d/ Grinspoon-Hard Act to Follow http://www.filefactory.com/file/f140bc/ Claudio Bagliani- Va (Go) http://www.filefactory.com/file/f140bc/ Inno Italiano-Torino 2006 http://www.filefactory.com/file/df951c/
Olympian2004 511
What was the music in Athens Ceremony, at the tribute to Olympic cities and when Nikos Kaklamanakis lights the cauldron? I have to correct my former statement that those two pieces by John Psathas are called "Torch Journey Around The World" and "Pyros 1". It seems as if those two were only the names for the segments, but not for the corresponding music. In fact, the music for the torch journey segment was an arrangement of Claude Debussy's "King Lear" fanfare (and thus not a composition by John Psathas himself). And the music during the lighting of the cauldron was Psathas' arrangement of Dimitri Shostakovich's "Pirogov". You can look those infos up here: YouTube clip of the 'Torch Journey Around The World' segment in Athens and YouTube clip of the cauldron lighting in Athens.
christos 0
Thanks! these days I made many pieces of opening and closing ceremony as mp3 as we will not have any official cd with the music....
Rei 9
I don't know if that was mentioned before but did anybody ever notice how the Torino2006 anthem "Va" sounds pretty similar to the former URSS hymn? Take a hear and judge! Torino2006 anthem preceded by the olympic anthem Former URSS hymn The resemblance was unveiled by the italian satiric tv program "Le Iene" which realised this interview with Claudio Balgioni, Torino2006 anthem's composer Youtube-Baglioni a Le Iene Could that have been a presage of a future russian winter host? Didn't realize that because Torino's anthem didn't glue to my mind. But there is a portion of "Va" that is scarily similar to the former USSR (now Russian anthem)
