ejaycat
But as President, she would have a much larger impact. Do you mean as someone trying to convince the IOC to choose their bid city? People say Blair was the key in London's winning 2012; I'm sure that is the case. But the thing with an American President is that the President is also our head of state; I can't imagine someone like Queen Elizabeth brown nosing with the IOC just to get an Olympics. At this point, yes it is realistic. Do you really think so? I think if Hillary Clinton chose to run for President, it would be very polarizing, even within the Democratic Party. I'm really not into Hillary. If a woman were to run for President, I'd rather see California Senator Barbara Boxer run for President. I would definitely vote for her for President. But she's made it clear that she doesn't want to run for President.
baron-pierreIV
And she did so much good for the NY 2012 bid. Well #1 - There was no bucking the Euro juggernaut last year. You can't blame that on Mrs. Clinton. #2 - The New York bid did itself in with the stadium fiasco. #3 - She wasn't the main star of the New York bid. With Blair, Chirac, Queen Sofia, and Putin? there - those were heads of state. Mrs. Clinton being a mere senator, according to protocol, is not accorded the same status as people senior in ranking to her. So, that again is not her fault. But you can bet, if she makes the White House in late '08, she will exude all her charm and the power of her office to push the US bid, even if it no longer is from her representative state. P.S. Ejay, I hate Barbara Boring, nothing but a whiny liberal. She is sooooooooooooo BORING to listen to!!

I don't find her boring at all, she always has intelligent things to say. Maybe you just don't care about certain issues, like affordable health care for all, gun control and funding for medical research? There are also no scandals associated with her, not like Madame Whitewater.

For me, looks & flash before content!

arwebb
I think it's going to be either Argentina or Brazil, provided they can come up with a decent bid. A chance, perhaps, but I wouldn't have thought it would be a major chance. Rio didn't get far with its 2012 bid, and if Brazil gets the 2014 World Cup, would they want the Olympics so soon afterwards? And has any Argentinian city actually registered an interest in hosting 2016?

baron-pierreIV
What? Yes. At least Anita de Frantz, who is also the longest sitting USA rep to the IOC; and I think 2nd to Princesses Anne and Nora, as the most senior female IOC members. There used to be a few more when the USOC Board of Directors numbered around 120+. And a few years back, 2 before Ueberroth, the USOC had an Afr-Amer president. SOlympiadsW
I know that, but his question confused me. yea, I had the same reaction when I read that....nykfan isn't asking if there are any African Americans in the USOC, but rather why the hell did jim even ask that?....it seems kind of random and off topic
