rav3n 1
One of the things that surprises me is that there is almost nothing of Sydney 2000 opening (only i could find the Tin Symphony) at youtube, or Lillehammer & Albertville...well, the list would be long I don't know, but i think that we could form a Youtube group dedicated to these videos as well for the rest of important sport highlights of the games. Maybe we could make more people to post that lost vids to enjoy them. I'll try to create a Youtube group on the next days, dedicated to the olympics. When it's finished, if someone is interested to join or to support this, just tell me
rav3n 1
Well, now is ready. To join the group, just create a Youtube account and enter the group, then click the ''Join this group'' link. http://www.youtube.com/group/olympicfans

ChicagoFan90 0
Some new behind the scenes ceremony coverage of Atlanta 1996 by a Spanish TV Show. (Shows the ceremony warehouse and the puppets used in Summertime!) And some VERY confused Atlanta 96 workers trying to help this weird guy speak English and find the Olympic Cauldron. rav3n 1
Here it is, and it's not a TV Show, is TV Azteca coverage (a mexican channel) of the Centennial Olympics in Atlanta. The video shows some extra moments of the previously posted NBC vids of the opening, since there is not commercial cuts (so we can apreciate some things like the Strike up the Band performance at the exit of the US Army Herald Trumpets). Also, less comments. For those who doesn't know spanish, at the first video they're speaking about Izzy, and the polemic that provoked the first time and changes suffered (and they say it's a FROG ) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=stixdOyr4D4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tp1GF2cOWJs http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4SLjZ0wOLE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2B-LgOc29Y http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qletXATCRUw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GnlBZS62GhA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MhB5gLpTQcc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_WHlJ1xCjGE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MRz6ZN1d5ts http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ad8hFR-kXlk

BTHarner 138
I hope the contributor with the TV Azteca coverage puts the rest of the ceremony up on the site. It's fascinating to watch the coverage from a different perspective. I've watched my copy of the NBC coverage numerous times and it always bugged me that they missed 90 or so countries. I haven't found them via those Japanese tags -- but (as usual) via the search string "Olympic Ceremony". Luckily, the headlines of the videos are in English so that I found them. Durban Sandshark 155
Great to see the opening ceremonies from other perspectives outside of just NBC for us. It's also good to see nations and other bonus moments that were omitted due to commercial breaks. In the case of Atlanta I haven't much of it since over a decade. I tried recording it but to no avail. What's more my family and I had a thunderstorm that temporarily knocked off the power. I wonder is anybody from Canada will upload the CBC coverage? Some random thoughts (not really intended as a nitpick): I noticed when comparing NBC's footage with that of other nations, and this is true in the Atlanta 96 scenes, in the parade of nations we see the athletes mostly coming down the much-maligned ramp down the Olympic Stadium in the international shots but not as they descend much to the track and walk around it (like NBC did with their cameras). Nor on the international feed (I presume) were notable athletes from other nations ID as they marched with their teammates like NBC does. That said OCs and CCs should be commercial free in the future, even when tape delayed. But I know NBC has tried not to omit nations in it since. The Mexican commentators on TV Azteca (note the logo in the upper right corner) were largely silent in the artistic portions and didn't show the closeups of the Atlanta kids' faces dressed in white that made up the 100 and the dove in the beginning of the artistic portion (Summoning of the Heroes). Atlanta has the be last Summer Olympics televised that IDs the flag bearers in the Parade of Nations under the official Olympic graphics. Didn't see that happen in subsequent ones with Sydney and Athens. Like to see them return to do it for Beijing instead of mentioning just the country as assurance. NBC continues to do it with its own graphics. NBC didn't even bother to show the spectators waving to the cameras in its telecast, let alone doing the wave, leading up to the countdown in Atlanta. When the countdown started in Barcelona for the Opening Ceremony, the cameras were showing the countdown scenes from up underneath the scoreboard and panning to it. NBC shot their angles from atop the stadium's upper decks. In fact, its telecast started with the countdown with no intro or introductory words from Bob Costas. Until Atlanta, NBC never did an introductory preface (Costas/James Earl Jones) for the beginning of its Olympic coverage. Can't recall being done for Seoul (did a preview show, but that's different). As much as many can complain about NBC omitting nations in the OC in their coverage, and they surely did in the past, RTVE isn't blameless here. It had a quick intermission causing it to omit nations. I'll use Spain as an example for the following: as soon as Spain marched into Montjuic Stadium as hosts NBC got to closeup shots of Arantxa Sanchez Vicario, Jordi Villacampa, the Jofresa brothers, Carlos Front (whom RTVE didn't show at all, the youngest olympian in Barcelona at 12 carried by his teammates) much sooner than RTVE did. Maybe with an aforementioned collector's edition DVD set of the games to be released in time for Beijing (which I'll get into on a separate post in the near future), we could have the multiple camera angles option in both the Opening and Closing Ceremonies on their respective next-gen discs. NY20?? 98
Does anyone know where or how I can download a complete video of the Clypsedra parade in Athens’s Opening Ceremony? Olympian2004 511
Does anyone know where or how I can download a complete video of the Clypsedra parade in Athens’s Opening Ceremony? I'm doing a project on Ancient Greece for school, and would really like to include that in my final presentation. Thanks. Well, there is a video of that on YouTube (and I'm pretty certain that this has been linked here before): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4tcNk4sOTys...ted&search= And you can download YouTube videos with freeware like VideoDownloader (if you use Firefox) or Youtube Grabber. NY20?? 98
Well, I downloaded YouTube Grabber, but Windows Media Player wouldn't allow me to play it for some reason. Thanks anyways.
Olympian2004 511
Well, I downloaded YouTube Grabber, but Windows Media Player wouldn't allow me to play it for some reason. Thanks anyways. No, you need a FLV player for playing those YouTube flash videos. The best media player is the VLC player which is available as freeware here. It can play every video file format. But sometimes, for some reasons, there are some problems in the display of FLVs in the VLC player. Maybe you should also download the Riva FLV Player to play it safe. If you want to convert those FLV files to other video formats, you can use websites like Hey!Watch or software available on the web -- but the latter you have to look up on your own because I'm too lazy to do that. Olympian2004 511
Oops, sorry -- I thought that Hey!Watch is free to use. At least it was in the past, I believe... But I think if you google for "Encode FLV", "Convert YouTube videos" or something like that, you'll find an alternative.
rav3n 1
Well dudes, here is a video from some norwegian tv channel, remembering the Lillehammer winter olympics in 1994 (at the beggining, you can see the announcement in 1988 by Juan Antonio Samaranch of their victory at the bidding process). Recopilatory of the best momments of these games And now, a collection of vids from Athens 2004 Closing Ceremony: Famous greek singers Dimitra Galani & Haris Alexiou sings ''Manoula mou'' & ''Mia Volta Sto Fenggari'' (notice the face of Maria Callas at the big banners carried by some performers.) Yannis Parios singing ''Kale Sy Panagia Mou'' Pentozali & Pyrrhichios Dances. The first comes from Crete and the second from Pontos. Both dances in mythology were danced by the Five Idean Dactyls aka Couretes at Zeus Birth Anthems of Greece & China, before the Antwerp Flag Handover Lowering of the Olympic Flag (Olympic Anthem) A very similar version of the one played at the opening, but this time beggining with the classic medley before the lyrics. The beggining of the party, just after the extinction of the cauldron. Eleftheria Arvanitaki and Dionyssis Savvopoulos singing (does somebody got the names of the songs?)
