brilliant news for new zealand!

I know and we will most likely see the White ferns (women's national team) qualify for the world cup later this year and both our mens and womens national squads in Beijing next year.

3 more spots have been filled, with 2 more to go.

As mentioned, New Zealand is the sole OFC team to go to Canada 2007. As for the others, the CONMEBOL list is complete, having Argentina and Chile going to Canada 2007 as well. In fact, Brazil and Argentina has their soccer teams qualified for both Canada 2007 and Beijing 2008.

As for the 2 spots remaining, it is up to the CONCACAF confederation to fill them and the list is complete.

To give you guys a bit of a preview, before the draw on March 3rd in Toronto. Amongst the 6 cities hosting matches for the FIFA U-20 World Cup, this is where your national team will play, depending on the letter in which they are given.

I hope Canada will play in group D, since I will see some games in Montreal...

Canada is in Group A since they are the host country. I also know they are in Group A because they are playing their Opening Game on July 1st (Canada's Day) in Toronto. If you take a look at the schedule Guardian posted, Toronto is the only city outside of Edmonton to host a Group A match. So unfortunately for Montreal, you will not see Canada play during the Group Stage of the tournament.

  • 3 weeks later...

Today, the final 2 spots for Canada 2007 commences. It will be a battle between Mexico, Costa Rica, St. Kitts & Nevis and Jamaica for those spots. Once they are done, the qualifier list is completed and it will be exactly FIVE DAYS before the Toronto draw to see which team will be in which letter group.

The draw was broadcasted live here in Chile

Chile in the Group A... good group and I believe we have a lot of chances to qualify to the next round.

Matches in Toronto and Edmonton, where live most of the chilean inmigrants. The Marea Roja will invade those cities ;)

Canada isn't in the hardest of group. We can't underestimate anyone, but we still have a very good chance to qualify. And talk about an easy group for Spain!
