a second and a third gold medal for Belgium: Unbelievable.

Belgium is doing great in Gothenburg, 3 medals, 3 golds and 3rd place in the medal table! 2 golds and a National Record in High Jump in just 10 minutes! ;)

The Bulgarian Veneva was wonderful too. Sweden "lost" one of their almost certain golds.

Wow -- Russia is currently leading the medal table with a total of 23 medals with Spain ranking 2nd with only 6 medals!

That means that Russia has already won as many medals as in Munich four years ago (although there are still 20 finals to come) and that the gap between them and the second-ranked team is extremely wide.

Meanwhile, the Spanish newspaper "El País" reports that doping experts have cast serious doubts on those extremely outstanding results of the Russian team. Additionally, according to the German TV network ARD, some German athletes have complained about female competitors from Eastern Europe with unusually low voices and even stubbles in their faces.

It's becoming more and more stupid to believe in clean sports, I guess.

Do you have that from the EAA homepage? Because none of the German media seems to have noticed yet that Bolm has been assigned the silver medal.

On the official G'06 page Germany indeed appears in 2nd position, sharing the result with Ireland (12.72):

1 1702 Kallur, Susanna SWE 12.59

2 1387 O'Rourke, Derval IRL 12.72 NR

2 1290 Bolm, Kirsten GER 12.72

4 1129 Alozie, Glory ESP 12.86

But on RTE.ie it says:

O'Rourke, whose summer season has been interrupted by injury problems, finished behind Sweden's Susanna Kallur (12.59), with Kirsten Bolm third.

And yet O'Rourke - winner of the world indoor 60m title earlier this year - had to sweat it out for five minutes before she was given the decision ahead of the German, who shared the same time.

I don't know if Germany and Ireland will finally share the silver medal; if that's the case, congratulations to Germany, better silver than bronze!

After the protests of the German team, the jury of appeal has decided to call a dead heat between O'Rourke and Bolm and thus has awarded a second silver medal to Kirsten Bolm.

Drama as Derval shares silver

And that was my 1,000th post in this forum! Ta-ta-taaa! *flourish* ;)

Naive, perhaps. But, until they actually fail a test, they're clean. I don't like the assumption of guilt until proven otherwise.

Gold medal for Germany with 65.82 m

The difference between the two first and the Spanish is huge.

Jesús España wins the third gold medal for Spain in 5000 m, and Juan Carlos Higuero the bronze in the very same race (just 0.05 seconds ahead of the Turkish Akkas)! :)

The third Spanish finalist, Pablo Villalobos, ended in 7th position.
