Could The Us Boycot 2016 If Europe Gets It?

Recommended Posts

The one thing I don't understand is why anyone would risk IOC goodwill, any chance of hosting in the near future, not to mention the careers of their leading athletes by boycotting the Games over an issue which, particularly when compared to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan before Moscow 1980, is trivial.

There is little or no point in European cities bidding for 2016, because they have no realistic chance of winning. Simple as that.

That's the best reason for bidding. No one expects a European city to win so when all the eyes and gossip turns to a US or Japanese bid for months on end and the IOC gets bored of it then BAM! the competent little European bid that no one gave much hope to lands the Games.

Could happen.

If all the other continents fall of the face of the earth.

And to continue the discussion, it's the bid that counts not the continent.

um ok that was random, inaccurate, and just ridiculous just like this topic is....and no you are WRONG...the bid AND the contienent BOTH matter..sorry Europe, you can't change how thngs are just to get your way this time :P

I think people have missed the point here! If all other continents no longer existed, then Europe would consitute the 'World' so it would still be a world cup! :P

Seriously though, it's a silly argument and a silly thread! The US wouldn't boycott in a million years...
