Loving it so far. Making the ceremony in such an historic venue like this really makes itself feek. The homage to Opera was stunning.

You can tell this is a different team which did the opening. Also i praised  Balich for avoiding led projections in the opening yet here we are 🤣

I guess Balich saved the projections for this closing ceremony LOL. I did not mind them not using projections for the opening ceremony

Absolutely wonderful opening act. Just that part has already surpassed Paris’ entire closing ceremony (sorry Paris, I still suffer PTSD from that)

That closing was horrid. Jolly knows absolutely nothing about pacing.

even in France, we've all forgotten about this ceremony.

It will set a precedent now because it seems the 2030 opening ceremony will be at Lyon.

I thought Lyon was anti the whole thing? If they're now ok with it, surely hold the whole thing there ffs

(Also we really don't come to Italy to hear a mellow anthem lol)

Going back to the opera gives me Italia 90 vibes (where they performed Va Pensiero in the Teatro a la Scala and projected it at the screens of San Siro)

I agree. Relocate everything from Nice.

even the LA handover was utter crap (so much so that the IOC decided to tighten the rules)

That said, there are municipal elections next month, and the incumbent mayor is predicted to lose, so...

The anthem was slow in the opening, also slow in the closing. The most brilliantly energetic anthem flattened twice.

I agree. Normally, Fratelli d'Italia makes me want to restore the Roman Empire, but now I just want to sleep.

So, are the flag bearers the only athletes who will be attending:

I don't think so. There are a lot of open seats
