Wasserman visit raises the threat of LA 2028 Olympics Boycott

Thursday 11 December 2025

The chances of a boycott of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics have grown after LA 2028 Chairman Casey Wasserman made an unannounced visit to the site of the 2023 October 7 massacre and heaped praise on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a meeting between the two on Thursday.

Wasserman told the Prime Minister that his leadership in the last two years made him "proud to be a Jew".

Wasserman's move is certain to anger Arab & Muslim countries while the Palestine Olympic Committee is reported to be dismayed at Wasserman's visit.

I did not expect anything less from Wasserman.  Besides, I respect his feelings to being a Jewish person.  Haters don't have to attend LA28.

LA 1984 did very well without the Commies (even though China, Rumania and Yugoslavia attended).  As a matter of fact, Atlanta 1996 --with no boycotts, got a little messier in execution.

And justifiably so 🤢

Nobody will boycott over one meeting, but I guess it has burst the bubble that LA28 might provide any kind of cultural pushback against the worst of what we're seeing in the world and in America today.

What a stupid thing to do by Wasserman,

You can honour the victims of October 7 without heaping praise on the person that multiplied the suffering for both Palestinian civilians and the hostage families in the aftermath.

But yeah, there won’t be a boycot over that alone.

Get him off the Organizing Committee immediately, I do not care that he has been the leader of the project since the USOPC switched Boston for us back in 2015. Every moment that passes by with him as chairman further taints the Games, and more importantly, our city.

(yes it's the NY Post but he responded to them so)

Quote

LA Olympics boss Casey Wasserman claims he never had a “relationship” with pedophile Jeffrey Epstein – after racy emails he wrote to Ghislaine Maxwell surfaced in the Department of Justice’s latest document dump.

“I deeply regret my correspondence with Ghislaine Maxwell which took place over two decades ago, long before her horrific crimes came to light,” Wasserman said in a statement to The Post.

The married Wasserman told Maxwell, “Where are you, I miss you,” and asked, “Can we book that massage now?” in the flirty emails, which dated back to 2003.

“I never had a personal or business relationship with Jeffrey Epstein,” Wasserman, a Hollywood mogul tapped to head the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, said in his statement.

“As is well documented, I went on a humanitarian trip as part of a delegation with the Clinton Foundation in 2002 on the Epstein plane. I am terribly sorry for having any association with either of them,” he added.

The saucy messages emerged Friday as part of three million Epstein-related documents released by the DOJ.

In response to Wasserman’s sexually charged messages, Maxwell fired back with her own steamy response.

“all that rubbing — are you sure you can take it? The thought frankly is leaving me a little breathless,” she wrote, noting she was in Brazil at the time.

“There are a few spots that apparently drive a man wild — I suppose I could practise them on you and you could let me know if they work or not?”

Maxwell was convicted in 2021 and sentenced to 20 years in prison for grooming dozens of girls and women for Epstein.

Maxwell told Wassserman in a March 2003 message that she thought of him at “inappropriate moments.”

“I think of you all the time… So what do I have to do to see you in a tight leather outfit? I am in NY tonight, youre not, what am I to do? Xoxo cw” Wasserman replied.

“Casey – I will be coming back to NY [tomorrow] late afternoon. I shall be wearing a tight leather flying suit …,” she answered.

The exchanges came while Wasserman was married to his then-wife, Laura.

Wasserman, the grandson of movie mogul Lew Wasserman,  oversees a sports, music and entertainment company called Wasserman.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom named him, along with Magic Johnson and LA Dodgers chairman Mark Walter, to lead a recovery effort after the devastating LA fires last year.

Wasserman’s 2002 trip on Epstein’s plane during a humanitarian trip was revealed in a 2003 Vanity Fair report.

Along with Wasserman, Clinton and Epstein on the Boeing 727 were actors Kevin Spacey and Chris Tucker, billionaire Clinton pal Ron Burkle, Wasserman, and others, according to the outlet.

Except...

I hope the journalists ask the IOC what they think of the situation tomorrow!

At this point, the bigger challenge might be finding a replacement* who doesn't trigger an awkward google search.

*assuming he is replaced.

Such a sad state of affairs that probably nothing is going to come of this and we're going to have to live with the stink of it for awhile since those involved probably won't get charged.  But I agree that Wasserman can't continue to be the face of LA2028 in light of this.  Of course, I feel the same way about the President but we all know nothing is going to happen there and every MAGA will just continue to pretend like nothing happened

Allyson Felix and Janet Evans have been the face of LA28 on the athlete's side, I wonder how either of them would feel about taking over? Or combine the CEO/President roles and just have Hoover do it? He seems to be doing decently well...

IOC president Kirsty Coventry says ICE and Epstein files are ‘sad’ distractions from Winter Olympics

I obviously don't have the benefit of an outsider viewpoint, but clearly they're seeing this abroad.  Thankfully we're about to get underway and I'm hoping this is like most Olympics where once the games start, that is the focus and the outside distractions become background noise.  Although I'll be very curious to see if all this causes a slump in viewership in the United States.

How can anyone know 20 years ago how things would turn out 20 years later?  I mean, Twat-47 started out as a registered Democrat before.

But Epstein’s reputation and “services” seem to have long been an open secret in the gilded halls. And surely even then, anybody with a modicum of decency would have considered it icky.

Wasserman's emails have been reported on, but it's hardly major news (the Andrew formally known as Prince and Mandelson are picking up all the headlines here). I suspect similar is also true for most other places outside the US. So I can't see this impacting these Winter Games in any way whatsoever.

Whether it builds and has an effect on LA28's preparations is a very different question...that seems entirely possible.

I think there's an even greater risk for 2028 than Wasserman's emails: the possibility of Trump launching an attack against Iran during the Olympics, during the "Olympic truce." Even though we now know this truce has been a sham since Putin, there's still a certain symbolism behind it, and the IOC is still committed to it. How would they react if Trump didn't wait until the end of the Games?

And within the next two days, the IOC session should vote to grant IOC membership to Soraya Aghaei Haji Agha, badminton player from Iran. Interesting time.

But you know, in Wasserman's world which includes sports personalities mixed w/ show biz folks and those who flutter around these worlds, eetc., how does one (in CW's position) cut the chaff from the flak?  Not in his world -- especially when he was trying to build up his business.

It’s one thing just mixing naturally in that milieu, and another exchanging flirts over tight leather outfits and erotic massages

Well, that was private.  I mean, he is a human being after all -- surely, he's entitled to all his private thoughts as you & me & everyone else is entitled.  I'd say he is/was a big fan of Emma Peel & The Avengers.  😉

You can have such fantasies and flirts without hanging around with well-known predators. And if you think you need those predators for building up your business, just admit you’re totally corrupted morally and don’t pretend otherwise.

Given who these were to there's some major ick that's going to rub off on LA28 to an extent - can they and should they live with that? Given they're from 2003 though, it's an open question as to how much he knew (a question journalists should push). If they were from a decade later then he'd have to resign as LA chair, no doubt.

Thank God we've got an actual goddamn Olympics a few days away. Been avoiding some of the threads to avoid spoilers, but only a few days and we can post about something good again.
