Where are we watching?

Are we watching together?

I like the combination between the ancient greek torch and this new one. Some previous winter torches looked so flamboyant to make the handover look ungraceful.

Yes, not long to go now.

I noticed the flame of the first Milano Cortina torch initially looked very different and “transparent” to the regular flame from the igniting torch of the Greek high priestess.  Reminded me of that environmentally gas used in the Tokyo 2020 final cauldron lighting.

It definitely got more visible as the runners continued outside, so it probably takes a moment to properly ignite or something

Very cinematic ceremony.  At least the weather cooperated a little -- but the broadcast screwed up the music for the dancing on the hillock.  Obviously, they didn't test that.

And next time, since they are on an electronic medium, they can have all the Greek speeches they want, but please use English subtitles -- then it doesn't feel like some primitive foreign film shot before subtitles were invented!!  (But they managed to ID all the torch-bearers including the very first Greek runner from 1964!  That was cool.  They should've had him at least touch the Torch!!!)

Yes true, it’s settled into a steady regular flame which looked good.

Remember also, it was inside -- and the hall did not have a very high ceiling.  So w/ 2 other flames already going, the first torch had to be lit in 'slow burn" and then he had to get out of the hall ASAP.   I wondered if the hall had sprinklers -- and I wonder if the Olympia Fire Dept allowed those to be turned off for the duration???
