And now we come for a first in olympics history which is the widespread opening.

So far this has been a really slickly executed, fairly low-risk, uncontroversial, but maybe less interesting ceremony. The absolute polar opposite of what we had two years ago, in fact.

Ngl, I prefer it tbh. Maybe I'm just too conventional.

Does the world feed show where they're cutting to? NBC isn't telling us which place they're cutting to

Took a while for those rings to join - did Thomas Jolly guest choreograph that segment?

No..if he did that would had taken 30 minutes at least.

miss my boats... bring them back....

I'm still kinda bummed of what else could've been that night if it wasn't for that damn rain.

I still think about it often... and every time I see people say "no, but really, the rain made it all look amazing!!!" to reassure themselves, I cry.

Well. While the porridge cooks, my preliminary review…

‘Loved the initial segment/s, so fun, and great Italian vibes.

Mariah? Meh. A bit robotic and lifeless to me.

The poetry, interpretive dance, rings? All a bit same-same. A bit of a letdown after the quirky opening number.

Don't forget that it's an S, not a U !

USA going third-to-last as they are hosts in 2034 (for this reason, France will go second-to-last as well)

It's a heck of a lot shorter than the "official" version!

Yeah, not complaining. Just found it interesting. Maybe we can have "nonante" before we get to the 2090s?

Oh yes, forgot about the new "promote the heck out of all known future Games" rule
