This will be Italy’s third Olympic Winter Games and comes 70 years after Cortina d’Ampezzo 1956 and 20 years since Torino 2006. This OC is produced by Balich Wonder Studio who have an extensive and varied list of ceremonies credits including Torino 2006 and Rio 2016. With such a spread out Games, this Opening Ceremony based at the San Siro Olympic Stadium in Milano, could be a pointer on things to come at future ceremonies in involving athletes at distant locations. Ceremony Start Time CET - Central European Time 8pm, Friday, 6 February 2026 In bocca al lupo! Already long started Quote

It wasn’t listed in any of of the visible Milano Cortina 2026 threads, I triple checked all threads, all categories. Is there a Gamesbids archive that’s not visible to members - if so, how do members access it? Quote

sebastien1214 Posted February 1 Report Posted February 1 I'm really looking forward to my pineapple pizza, which I'll eat during the ceremony. I hope the ceremony has a bit more flavor than my pizza, though. 1 Quote

No, this was created here in this forum section, but hidden away way back when, ready for unveiling when ready. There are a couple of premium members-only forum sections, but they’re largely inactive Quote

Bear Posted February 2 Report Posted February 2 Place your bets: Will Coventry be announced as "President of the International Olympic Committee Kirsty Coventry, (Double) Olympic Champion, Swimming"? How long will her speech be? "Give peace a chance" 2.0? Quote

Faster Posted February 2 Report Posted February 2 (edited) The biggest question. How loud will the cheers be for Venezuela and Denmark be (and to a lesser extend Colombia, Nigeria and Canada) and how loud will be boos be for the Americans? Some of the flag bearers are clear middle fingers to current American policy. So yay! Italia! Disappointed in Denmark. 2 Greenlandic athletes and neither was chosen as flag bearer. FYI Posted February 2 Report Posted February 2 Haven't been too excited for these winter (or any other upcoming) Games, thus far. Just seems so counter-intuitive these days. Olympic ideals, truce, etc. seem so hollow the way things are going lately. I really feel now that Paris 2024 may have been the last big Olympic hoorah, especially after the unfortunate duds (which were no fault of their own) that were Tokyo 2020ne & Beijing 2022. I'll still be tuning in to Milan 2026, but I can't get motivated this time. Maybe once these winter Games get going, it might be a different story, but seems doubtful. Certainly how good (or bad) these OC are might be crucial this time to set the mood. Quote

Hence why I'll be watching the OC from CBC, not NBC. I want unfiltered crowd reactions lol. Also, hey everypeople! Good to be back!b Some quick thoughts: - While it would've been nice to have a bigger cauldron like Torino 2006, I like this new cauldron design approach based on da Vinci sketches. Hopefully the flame will be slightly bigger and not teeny tiny like Beijing 2022 (not a cauldron...cheap cheap cheap) - Last torchbearer should be Alberto Tomba? Would be very fitting. Also fitting as one of the final torchbearers: Alessandro Del Piero. - By now, Frenchy Alps 2030 should be out. What gives? - The signage design for these games look pretty nice! Quote

SkiFreak Posted February 5 Report Posted February 5 *crawling back after my in-between games hibernation* Should be an interesting ceremony. Wonder if it will be like Torino. At least this time around we won't hear "Thomas Bach, Olympic Champion, Fencing!"🏅 Quote
