Due to his passing on April 11, LA28 will not be a 3-peat for producer Don Mischer who produced both the ceremonies for the last 2 "American" Olympics; Atlanta 1996 and Salt Lake 2002.  

Because of this. the choice of Ceremonies production company for LA28 is a wide-open contest.  (I have a few guesses as to who will do it but I will keep my cards close to my vest for now.)  RIP, Don Mischer.

I wasn't a huge fan of Atlanta's opening with the exception of Mohammad Ali lighting the cauldron.

I agree with you on this.

Atlanta is one of my favourite openings, but one of my least favourite cauldron lightings.
